Chp. 4: The Gods Will
Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
Azoth curses himself for second guessing. "I have no healing magic, brave Kitchi. We must rest again, damn us to the Nine Hells. Then I can heal the party again, and divine the true nature of this imprisoned creature. It could be a shapeshifting demon for all we know, assuming a fair guise to trick us."
"Savage Tabai can you read any of the writings in this room? If this is a prison of the ancients, there might be useful warnings left by the wardens."
"Ironwilled Siavel, where does your precious dagger suggest would be a safe place to rest?"

Tabai after checking for illusions and magic will apply first aid to anyone needing it including himself.

Calto the druid:
Calto carefully considers the situation, hoping to uncover some means of freeing the feathered serpent.
"What about trying some of the items we found in the beetle nest? We have the whistle, the glass eye, the stone key, and the trapezohedron stone...Perhaps they will provide assistance."

Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
A truce seems reached between Siavel and Azoth. Can the elf be trusted?
"It speaks not, except to say the way out is through the north door," Siavel answers Azoth. "And that we should not free the serpent."
Tabai the jungle barbarian applies his native healing skills to the injured (all gain 1 HP), cleaning wounds and applying some local plant extract mixed with the nutritive puss of the yellow caterpillar.
Tabai then concentrates in front of the door, his instinctual sense for juju raising the hairs on his neck. There is magic there; he felt it painfully, and it remains in some form. He considers reading what runes are left on the door (4d6 Int. check.) Writings, if any, inside the room can't be seen from the angle of the little grated window in the door.
Siavel nods at Calto's words. "Those enchanted objects may indeed help us, but I would not test them now."

Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
Tabai takes a good long hard look at the runes on the door, though apparently his barbarian brain is taxed for the day. "Definately magic on that door." Int Check (10) [4d6] = 13

Calto the druid:
"Let us rest to recoup our magicks before pressing on. I would have confirmation that the coatl is indeed lawful in nature before we release it from captivity," Calto suggests to the others.

The adventurers pause and consider rest and the best place to do so.

Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
The adventurers settle in the hallway for rest, taking their normal watch. There is the occasional weird sound echoing from beyond, but nothing approaches. Uneasy sleep eventually provides respite until a quiet muffle brings Tabai the jungle barbarian awake.

All is black and quiet. The torch is out? The barbarian concentrates, his keen senses reach out. Yes, heavy breathing from nearby. One of the others? Who should be on watch?
Then a calm voice, whispering in the blackness.

"A bad dream. It is okay. Go back to sleep."

The elf.

Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
Tabai being as one one person can even understand him the barbarian replies to the only person that can translate "Who said that? Kitchi?"

Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
Tabai realizes with some confusion that it is Siavel who spoke, in the tongue of the jungle native.
"Sleep, the watch will change soon," a whisper in the dark.

Tabai more concerned that suddenly the elf can speak his language the barbarian lights a torch and tries to wake Kitchi, Calto & Azoth.

Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
Tabai reaches for a torch and flint stones to light it. As he strikes the sparks Tabai hears gutteral mutterings from Siavel.
The torch lights, revealing Siavel kneeling before a dead Azoth whose chest is cut open. In the elf's left hand is Azoth's heart, in his right hand the corrupting exotic dagger. At Siavel's side on the floor is the black scepter, taken from the statue that came to life. The terrible artifact which possessed Azoth early on. The scepter that had been wrapped up and held by Siavel all this time.
Siavel's mouth is gore and blood stained. "Y la muerta del..." the elf utters, dropping Azoth's heart and raising the scepter toward Tabai.
Actions!

Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
Splendid...
Tabai attempts to attack the evil elf as Azoth should have done a while back...alas it is too late now.
Spear Attack Thac0 (16) [1d20] = 5 to hit [1d6] = 6s/m dmg [1d8] = 4 l dmg
well if I'm going to die I may as well do it now since the roller is apparently all for it.

Calto the druid:
While Siavel focuses his attention on Tabia, Calto slides into the shadows and assumes the shape of the mage's former familiar, Surge.
"Surge" scurries out of the darkness, sits up on his haunches and eyes the bewitched mage with curiosity.
The druid hopes that the sight of the giant weasel will help the mage recall some aspect of his former self.
If not...

Re: Chp. 4: The Gods Will
The End - Round Two
In the light of the flickering torch Tabai sees an evil grin cross Siavel's face. The jungle barbarian thrusts his spear at the elf, who bats it away with the jet scepter.
Calto the druid transforms into a giant weasel, hoping the memory of Siavel's pet Surge will enable the elf to free himself of the possession. It seems to have no effect.
Siavel points the scepter at Tabai and the others. Black flame fans out from it, burning Tabai, Calto and Kitchi with cold fire (10 HP, save vs. Spell for half). The adventurers recall the scepter's powers when they faced Azoth with it.
Actions for Round 3!

Save v Magic (14) [1d20] = 9
Some choice words to the roller....#@*&!
Tabai the jungle barbarian tries to back away and bites the monkey foot on his necklace trying to consume it.
then again i forgot according to my sheet i only had 10 HP....9 per the DM log...so disregard Tabai's actions.
