"Fanxyl, I know exactly how it's like to be lost in darkness without gear. Not a nice feeling for any elf - half or whole. You may borrow my shield here - until we find one. There's bound to be a battered kobold buckle lying about somewhere"
lends 'small shield' to Fanxyl and reduces current AC 3 / 4 / 4 to AC 4 / 5 / 5

Re: Chpt. 2 Kobold Prisoners & Prisoners of Kobolds
Trendt looks at Fanxyl "I can't speak fer everyone else but by my standards you're more than welcome ta join us elf." Trendt then scratches his beard a moment in thought "Seal them dog faced rats in hmm well we still have barrels of oil enough to torch some spiders and maybe to some harm to more kobolds. But we might want to sneak in ta check that there aint no more folk like Fanxyl here caged in the room fore we go blowin kobolds up."

Gwydion, Elf Ranger
"I would be glad to have another of my kin, especially a ranger on board for quest! This will increase our odds considerably."
Gwydion finishes his repast, prepares his gear, collects his arrows, and is ready to resume tracking down the kobolds.
"I think the Monk is right - let's not leave a known enemy at our backs."
Coppish, Elf F/T
Coppish finishes munching on his rations - mostly jerky and some nuts. "You are probably right. Let me check for traps before we enter. These creatures are devilishly clever." He retrieves his arrows as well. He is anxious to get going - he feels nervous eating in this lair. Like he's being watched.
He will check the door once everyone is ready to move on.

Sammy the Barbarian
The warrior eats his fill as well. "Agreed. I thought we had cleared our back side earlier. I was wrong. But, the other side is secure now, except for the caves. We should wait on the trap door 'til later as well."

Llewellyn DeNonce, Lawyer
"I favor exploration of the trap door precisely because the kobolds appear to have been unaware of it. The historical artifacts our clients have hired us to recover seem more likely to lie in such a direction. But I acknowledge that it may be advisable to clear this level of the caves of threat before descending further."

Freddie The Fop
With Jenn plaguing him it is time for Freddie to get acquainted with Llewellyn DeNonce.
Freddie whispers, how much to be my back door man? I bet she wears 2000 GP as we speak. I can't go on like this.

Llewellyn, Lawyer Assassin
"That's quite a big job you're offering," Llewellyn quietly tells Freddie. "Let me briefly observe the subject to determine whether unusual measures would be needed to terminate someone of such . . . proportions. Then I can estimate a reasonable fee."

Re: Chpt. 2 Kobold Prisoners & Prisoners of Kobolds
Dakara the cleric overhears the evil scheming going on between Freddie the Fop and Llewellyn the assassin lawyer. She sits beside them while she munches on her own rations, having just parted with some for Jenn, then whispers quietly to the both of them. "I don't suppose you'd consider waiting until I have enough experience to animate her corpse to be of some use to us other than eating up all of our food?" It is a strange thing, this cleric speaking of animating the dead... for this is usually not looked on as a good deed.
Loud jingling is heard as Jenn the belly dancer makes her way to the three in quiet conversation, almost tripping over her own feet while towering over Freddie. It's a close one, but she catches herself and plops down beside him with very little grace, making a very loud jingle as she hits the floor. One arm goes around Freddie's neck and she is smiling coyly. "I'm so glad to see everyone doing so well. I feared the worst, but the tavern owner had a feeling about you guys. He knew you could pull this off where so many have failed. I won't let anything happen to you, my beautiful Freddie. I promise. We were meant to be together."

Freddie The Fop
Freddie knows Trendt's little curtsy was a contrived bit of etiquette because Dwarves have no such thing. No it was a "rub-in", a finger in the eye, so to speak. He grits his foppish teeth.
Freddie becomes sullen, even angry.

He walks off to find Gwennethel, the all too earthy elf who is apparently trying to organize this smelly mess.
I'll not be waiting, he says aloud to Darka.

Llewellyn DeNonce, Assassin at Law
His confidential conversation with a prospective client interrupted by the topic of that discussion, Llewellyn turns his attention to assessing the difficulty of the proposed contract and any complications that might be involved.
"This is quite a dangerous place," he says in a dry, lawyerly voice. "Wouldn't someone back in town be very upset if you were hurt by the vicious creatures in these caves? Your family and friends would miss you so much, yes?"
He hopes that this will start Jenn talking about her life and family. He wants to know if her family or friends are well-connected or powerful. Is she a barely tolerated outcast in town, or the beloved daughter of the town witch? These bits of information are crucial when deciding whether to take on a case—and how much of a fee to charge.

Adel is appalled at the discussion taking place before him. As Freddie walks away, Adel follows him, getting between Fred and Jenn. He whispers, almost hisses, to the foppish dandy. "Perhaps in the future you'll be more judicious on who you charm, you vain little elf! She shouldn't die simply because you wanted a trinket of hers."
Adel hears voices, but can't make out what they are. He turns to a more interesting subject - ogling the hot clerics!

How many people think they overheard this conversation? Were Llewellyn and Freddie yelling instead of whispering?

Biblo the scribe finishes drawing a map with his quill, based on the kobold's words. He shows it to the group.

Gwennethel, Elf Druid
Gwennethel sees Freddie coming toward her in a big huff. She wonders what his problem is now. She thinks to herself, He is a fellow wood elf, but honestly, he's never quite content and sometimes his intentions seem less than honorable. Too often grumpy.
To Fanxyl she says, Yes Fanxyl, Jenn would be much better off in town. But just how do you convince her of that? She can only see Freddie and isn't about to listen to reason."
Zhym, ignorance is bliss. Gwennethel didn't hear it. She's going to let Freddie hang himself and tell her, or maybe get the info later from Adel.

Re: Chpt. 2 Kobold Prisoners & Prisoners of Kobolds
I can grab this before anyone else overhears. Dakara overhearing won't matter. She'll never tell and she's not the most honorable person. Adel was moving by, so overheard Dakara's last clip, but since the three were whispering, no one else hears this. Jenn certainly didn't hear it. She was only in the area as a matter of principle. Dakara truly is worried about the food consumption.Zhym wrote:How many people think they overheard this conversation? Were Llewellyn and Freddie yelling instead of whispering?

Re: Chpt. 2 Kobold Prisoners & Prisoners of Kobolds
Corun is sitting out in the hall with Fanxyl and Gwennethel. He shoves some of his rations in Fanxyl's direction. "We'll help you get back your gear. Better eat some lunch before you move on. I don't imagine those kobolds fed you well and we wouldn't want you weakened by starvation. According to what Biblo got out of that kobold, they're good at starving their prisoners. I'm just wondering if the goblins in here are weak enough for us to overcome easily, or if they might even help us in an attempt to get revenge on the kobolds. Still, I wouldn't trust them after the deed is done."
Jenn watches Freddie leave the room a little miffed and becomes worried that she did or said something wrong. Dakara can see the belly dancer fretting over it and can't help herself upon laying her own eyes on the fop. Woo! He sure is sexy when he gets angry. Mm! Mm! What a man!" More quietly, she tries to make Jenn feel a little better about the situation. "I wouldn't worry. You know how men can be at times. Just let him cool down."
Jenn feels a bit comforted by these words and decides to get more chatty with Llewellyn and Trendt as she is asked about her personal life and her family. She becomes more animated and happy at this point. "Oh, yes! I have family all over the place! They know I'm here, though they didn't exactly want me to come. That will turn out to be a grueling argument, but I told them what I was doing. They know I'm looking out for you guys. I've told them how I've fallen in love with Freddie and that I know it's the gods' will that he and I marry one day. I have to protect him, so I couldn't possibly be anywhere else. They also have the utmost respect for this party and are just sure you'll overcome this obstacle. They were glad to finally get some tough numbers together to send here."
"I'm only staying here in Farmtown with my brother for a while. He's one of the main farmers here. Our father is the head town marshal in Snake River City and he's the brother of the woman that married Duke Kalvar, so I'm the Duke's niece. One of my aunts is an amazon queen over in the Lithican Rainforest and I have a great aunt who has connections to the main royal family. You wouldn't believe all the connections I have to the royal families. I have close connections to the marshals and mayors in just about every city or town. My brother separated himself from our father so he could make his own way instead of having to have the curse over his head of 'being born into wealth'. So there are family issues, but I don't begrudge the royalty their titles or the other family members their right to live simple lives. While I visit my brother, I like dancing at the Red Heifer Tavern. I make good tips there, though I hardly need them. I just do it for fun. I understand that Duke Kalvar and my father were the ones that hired you people to find some of the relics here that went lost long ago. Farmtown doesn't know too much about those, but nobody really knew what was going on here and why the village had stopped producing. The only thing I knew was that creatures were raiding the village and I managed to get a message to the city to send some help. I wasn't real specific with what was happening, so I don't think they know all of the details. I was going to wait until I could find out more to send those details to my father, but since you guys showed up, I just took one look at you and share the same faith my family has in you. I know you'll be able to free the village of their plight and get business going again."

Flanxyl=RangerThanks for the food,The kobolds are not very good cooks. I would not eat what they offered anyways. Probably be rats or even goblin meat. I do believe that the goblins would assist us. The goblins must of broken out a few times there was quite a bit of fighting between them.
