What's So Fun About This?
Re: What's So Fun About This?
Torbath
Torbath joins the two wizard's discussion, "I always hear the so-called Master built everything on a delicate balance of positive and negative energies, but we keep encountering creatures and beings of negative energy like undead, and you mentioned a creature from the lower planes. Perhaps it is just wishful thinking but with us having collectively gathered two of the four mega-gems, just perhaps we finally going to see where that balance is. Just in case we do not get that balance we should be on the safe side, and establish a perimeter and instead of just focusing inward we should be actively looking out. Someone with good vision please call out for each of the four cardinal directions."
Comet please watch for anything coming from above.

"I believe there are eight gems to collect. One per obelisk. We found the fire and smoke gems. So, of the primary elements, that leaves water, air, and earth. Of the para-elements, that leaves magma, ooze, and ice. What we don't know yet is their purpose aside from the activated powers."
"The cifal ...colonial insect-formed artificial life, as the Eldar called it ... may have been a result of these positive energies. The Eldar said that the insects were created to feed them, though they had gone out of control. Hence the abundance of insects on the island and the formation of the cifal. The number of insects did seem much reduced when we came back ..."
"The Eldar also said these energies are slowly diminishing over time, perhaps to dangerous levels, and this is why the island appeared when it did?"

Wes
Wes turns his attention to the red rock they're all standing on. "Princess, I think when you arrived on the island, you told us about how your ship circled the whole coastline. And off to the northwestern side of the island was some kind of mudslide or old lava flow?"
"Since we seem to be at a higher elevation, is it possible that we're near the top of some kind of volcano?" Wes calls over to Grimm. "What do you make of this red rock? Does it look volcanic to you?"
Maag
Maag splashes some water into his eyes, then rubs them hard for several seconds. He strains his eyes, peering as hard as he can, searching for a distant landmark. Suddenly, an idea pops into his head.
"Wot if, we cannot see nuffin' in der distance because der is no distance?"
"Fink of it like dis: imagine dat we are ants, crawlin' around on der floor. Den someone takes a big crystal bowl an' turns it over, an' puts it over us upside down. Everyfink around us would look der same but we would not be able to see through der crystal bowl."
Maag points at Andron and the rest of the Silver Circle group. You said day magic took you to a different place an' time. Maybe dat is wot 'as 'appened in dis case".
Edited to add Maag

Cresty
The fighter hears the crab figure, then shakes his head as if he understands what the strange being is trying to say. He decides to help. Moving to the opposite direction of the crustacean to the group's south side and facing towards the south, he takes a deep breath and yells "SSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUTHHH!!!
Re: What's So Fun About This?
Young and gangly human ranger Theo, a great height and width of nose, prominent of out-sticking ears, brushes ragged unshorn gingery hair from away from his forehead and eyes. He rubs the hairs covering his receding chin. Which, hardly beknownst to him, have grown from patchy stubble to a light patchy beard. He can't make out what hell is going on, with all of these new party members? ??? The young ranger pulls his glowing bastard sword over his shoulder and unwraps it from the winded strip of his cloak concealing its light.
He runs his thumb crossways its edge. "Still rough and razor-sharp," he thinks. "It's ready."
He moves south of the group, so as to be a scout and point, should it come up. And listens and tries to figure out what the frogman wart is going on.

"Yes... Andron, is it?... I have also deduced this," says Chauncey. "It seems, at the very least, that these gems are a link to some sort of vast, otherworldly power. One we shall either master, or be mastered by. I prefer the former. To that end, it seems clear that our task is to collect them all. Perhaps, together, in these greater numbers, we may find it easier to do so."Quonundrum wrote: ↑Sat Nov 19, 2022 8:05 pm Andronichishche/Aliendron"I believe there are eight gems to collect. The Princess
She addresses Wes. "Right. There was a barren wasteland, charred, it seemed. I should be able to see in just a moment and then we'll hopefully find some point of reference."
"How about it Grimm? What do you make of this rock?" She waits for the information to come to him.
The Princess looks to the sky to position the sun. "Can you ranger earthy types assist? What time do you think it is? How long since the flash, do you think?"

Amun looks left, then right, then left again as she tries to follow the conversation.
"...time is different...negative energies...para-elements...hey, that would be the map we found in the cave, right?"
When no one takes notice of her she shakes her head and promptly walks away twenty meters.
"WEST!"

The homely and rather shy young ranger looks at the sun and at the shadows of the rocks on the ground. He tries to compare the current positions to those of right after the flash. And also to just before it.

Wake shows a slight amount of hesitation and then answers, "Understanding that I have not been to any of them only heard tales about various members of this group. It is my understanding that Chauncey has the fire mega-gem from the Fire Obelisk and we just heard that Andron has the Smoke mega-gem from the Smoke Obelisk. It is believed that there is a mega-gem at each of the 8 sites. I believe to access the fire and smoke obelisks the proper activation spheres had to be placed in the proper place in the Temple (the southern most location). Similarly to access what the map calls the Water obelisk and what I have Conjectured is the Ice obelisk that needs to be done at the western most point the Fun House."

Maag
Maag pulls a red orb from his pack. "An' I 'ave got dis. It was in Der Knife's backpack inside der demon". He shudders as he recalls the stench of the monster's guts.

"There were no color markings on the activation altar in the temple, so I expect the spheres can be used at any site. An examination of their colors may indicate which element they're attuned to." Andron examines the spheres to gauge specific shades, like the sea green sphere.
"The location of this Fun House should also be in the middle of that wasteland. Based on the message, I assume we were teleported somewhere nearby."
"Could this be a plateau?"

Re: What's So Fun About This?
The Rock
After more conversation, your eyes finally adjust to the bright sunlight overhead, allowing everyone to see normally again. You do indeed find yourselves atop a huge, red, square, stone plateau, surrounded on all four sides by the very top of the jungle canopy, the lush green treetops spreading out in a sea of vibrant green colors you could almost walk upon. Lerrick looks for a rock to sit on, but the surface of the stone plateau is completely flat, with no protrusions or scattered rubble to be found. Theo the homely ranger wracks his brain trying to come up with any connection, deducing only that it is somewhere around midday at the moment.
Anyone investigating the surface finds the rock to be indigenous and non-volcanic. While the more learned of the group pontificate upon this most recent discovery, wondering if anything triggered the mass teleportation reaction, Daisy wonders how this game they have stumbled into will eventually turn out for everyone.
Activation Spheres are revealed and discussed, several adventurers showing off the ones they’ve found so far. Looking around in every direction, there doesn’t appear to be any threats in the general vicinity, but there are also no clear indications as to where they should go from here. Torbath sends Comet up for a quick look around and the dragonfly alerts it’s master to an anomaly in the stone at the very center of the plateau.
