Darrian finishes tying up the ratman and leads him to the hole with Kazan.

While the conversation goes on, he recovers his darts and searches the ratman he downed.

Magdal listens to the mousemen her jaw still rather agape at talking...rodents... She knew cities grew them big but she'd never seen anything like this. When they speak of the Baron's law she hesitates and watches to she what the others do. She didn't want to get tossed in the gaol on her first day in town. What would mother say?

She stands quietly waiting to see what Eodrien, Darrien and Des plan to do.

~ Magdal, not yet the lawbreaker but the day ain't over...

Rouie shrugs his shoulders, "No idea why the Rats attacked now. They must have thought they could gain something from it, but I don't know what."

"The attack on our territory doesn't seem to be more than a fret or a diversion, and only a small troop was sent up to attack this bar." Rouie muses, "I think, maybe, it was mostly aimed at the above city on the other side of the city."

Rouie nods, "Yes, that area is right above their territory. Still, I don't think they are strong enough to take the above city away from you Humans. It seems a stupid move to me."

"I will need to descend with my troop to drive the Rats off, now, though. We'll take the poisoner with us and you can remain here or come with us, as I doubt the Baron's Law means a lot during this emergency." Rouie addresses the party of adventurers, "However, you might be of more use is you remained here and secured the Human's territory above ground. Stack those barrels atop the remains of the secret door in the floor here and no one will be coming up here to bother you until you move them."

"I would love to go with you Rouie and learn about your culture and everything else, but we should stay above. We cant really pretend not to know about the Barons Law. So, maybe later, my names Darian and this is Kazan."

Magdal knew nothing about rebuilding doors so she offers no input into Eodrien's suggestion. She will be happy to help with the barrels, once those with more knowledge of such things, repair the door. She watches the mousemen retreat below, glad she isn't going to be breaking any laws. She wonders how things are faring above but for now is content to help seal the entrance as best she can.

Once you leave the basement and go back upstairs you find Kate's father and two sisters safe in the bar, "So, what happened down there?"

Magdal thinks, just my luck, all I want is a nice hot bath, and I'm stuck in the middle of a rodent war. She remarks to Eodrien, "You handled yourself really well down there. I think without your skills our story might have ended very differently."

Darian examines the bodies of the Ratmen. Their weapons are old and show rust here and there. They are servicable, but show signs that they weren't cared for very well. He goes through pockets and finds a few copper coins, 8 to be exact, and a folded piece of paper with scrawl of Goblin script on it.

He finds nothing else of any interest.

He is curious if it looks like a human or perhaps elf or alike could have written it instead.

He then pulls all the dead bodies near the lift and sets up the pulley to haul them up later.

He comes upstairs and throws the coins on the bar. "One for everyone I suppose, courtesy of the Ratmen. Once you finish that, we need to haul up the deaders for disposal, wherever that is."

He calls over Kate and shows her the note quietly, making sure dads not around. "You know the handwriting?"

"Well we didn't earn much but a coin is a coin," Magdal says pocketing a copper piece. She peers over Darian's shoulder reading the note, "Hmm, somebody seems to like redheads," she sighs brushing a red lock of hair from her face.

Kate shrugs, "Ma has been dead these last ten years. That's a long time to hold a grudge, even for Red Caps."
