IV. The Witch Tower
Re: IV. The Witch Tower
Kassel, not wishing to be left behind on his own, ambles along with the others into the room.
Greys Campaign.
Re: IV. The Witch Tower
Sylvan confidently enters the room after Ciar triggers the enchanted mouth, and is followed by the rest of the group. After the door is closed as the last party member enters, Sylvan says aloud:
""Confession Cleanses the Soul— Pain Clarifies the Mind"
Nothing happens.
The group stands in the small, ten-foot-square room with a closed door on the east and west walls, and the now unmoving mouth enchantment on the wall to the north.

Kassel will try and locate any other exits, secret or otherwise, within the chamber. He will also check the door just entered to see if it opens.
Greys Campaign.
Re: IV. The Witch Tower
Fulp asks,
I didnt hear anything, but I wonder if that other door is unlocked now? Ciar, you didnt check it earlier did you?

Ciar shakes his head, "I just got here myself."
He makes his way to the other door and begins studying it intently.

Re: IV. The Witch Tower
When nothing seems to happen after Sylvan speaks a pass phrase, the begins to inspect the room. Ciar and Fulp move to the previously untested door on the eastern wall while Sylvan checks on the door on the western wall, through which the party entered. Kassal begins to search for unknown exits, which leaves Festus and Sparrow to check on the unmoving mouth.
However...
As soon as the various members reach their intended destinations, the entire floor between the doors opens into a 10' deep pit.
I will need a 1d20 roll from each player (please post the results in your private forum).

Re: IV. The Witch Tower
I hope this isn't a damage roll.

Re: IV. The Witch Tower
As the floor completely drops out from beneath them, some members of the party are better able to brace themselves for the unexpected fall.
After quickly assessing their own health situations, it becomes evident to the rest that Ciar and Festus are not moving as a result of their rough landings.
I have updated the 'Cast of Characters' thread with the updated conditions.

Kassel will pick himself up off the floor and limp across to where the dwarf or halfling is, whichever is closer, and try and stem any wounds that are bleeding.

Re: IV. The Witch Tower
Fulp begins to make a sarcastic remark to the halfling for causing this trouble, until he realizes that Ciar has apparently paid for his impulsive curiosity, possibly with his life.
Fulp will bind any visible wounds, while smacking him upside the head with his lucky dogtag.

Re: IV. The Witch Tower
Sylvan will check on Festus, trying to determine if he's still breathing and stabilizing him if so.
Re: IV. The Witch Tower
Kassal quickly moves to Festus' side, where he is met by Sylvan. A trickle of blood pours from the side of the dwarf's bear, staining his treasured beard, but the pair determine that the dwarf still shows sign of life. Sparrow shakes off the fall and attempts to stretch out his aching body before wandering over to the eastern side of the room where Fulp kneels over the unmoving form of the halfling. Fulp works to bind any visible wounds, smacking Ciar upside the head with his lucky dogtag, apparently extracting his revenge for the halfing taking his lantern a short while earlier.
After being tended to, Ciar begins to stir and appears to be partially recovered, leaving only the dwarf still down.

Re: IV. The Witch Tower
Sylvan examines the walls to see if there's any obvious way up.
"Sorry, fellas. Guess I should have done this one on my own."

Re: IV. The Witch Tower
Ciar rubs the large knot on the back of his head and asks,"Where'd the mule come from? And where'd it go after kicking me?"
He stands up and checks his gear after determining he doesn't have any broken bones. Finally, he thanks Fulp for attending him and begins looking for a way out.
"Don't think that was the right answer, Sylvan."

Kassel will prod and poke at the walls, to see if there maybe a concealed exit from the trap.
He looks up, trying to judge the distance. "Perhaps if someone stood in someone else they could reach the lip of the pit?"

Re: IV. The Witch Tower
Fulp answers Ciar as he moves over to check on the remaining wounds that have apparently stricken Festus.
Ciar, it wasnt a mule, you see. it is advice my poppy taught me when he was home on leave from the army. He said the medics might as well smack, stab, or shoot the soldier they were saving, since they couldn't do any worse. Like this, I reckon...
He smacks the drawf similarly as Ciar earlier.
Anyway, I couldn't shoot an arrow, so I figured I would test the smacking thing on you before I attempted to heal a real soldier. If that didnt work. I had a blade I would've tried next.

Re: IV. The Witch Tower
Just as he did with Ciar moments earlier, Fulp moves over to Festus and smacks the dwarf with the charm worn around his neck... which appears to work, as Festus begins to stir and quickly regains consciousness. "What the..." the dwarf mumbles, rolling his neck and moving his head in a circle to try and work out the impact of his fall.
Sylvan and Kassal move to the walls to begin examining them for a way up when, with the same lack of notice it demonstrated when it fell, the floor begins to make a grinding noise as it slowly starts to rise, as if resetting itself. It's ascent is much slower than its descent, but the group is returned to their original position and once again find themselves in the simple ten-foot-square room with exits on the east and west walls. The exit to the west, through which the group entered, is still unlocked. The door to the east features a lock, similar to the one found on the west wall which Ciar opened with a key.

Re: IV. The Witch Tower
Fulp looks around.
This room may fall down again any second, and it wasnt fun the first time. I cant see how we can survive down here the way we're going.
Should we turn back and set up a watch? Let us all recover a bit before continuing?

Re: IV. The Witch Tower
Did anyone notice if it was the whole floor that dropped or if there was a ledge around the outer lip of the room.
As the floor slowly rises the gnome will shuffle to the entrance doorway side of the chamber and open the door and step back into the corridor once the room has reset.
