We are definitely taking them, but while considering their utility I had some doubts.

Imagine they are expertly crafted and provide +1 to AC. How would we determine this? Would observation be enough?
In case they are magical, how would one determine their properties? I imagine with Detect Magic and then is it Analyse (which I do not have btw :P)?

So wearing them and then using them in a situation that would trigger their properties is one way. For example, if they did grant a +1 AC, then the next time the wearer gets attacked, I would note in the attack roll the improved AC, and let you know about that property, just as I did with Hrek's sword.

Another option is to use the Analyse spell, if/when you learn it (a downtime activity that costs money and a few weeks, it follows the same basic rules as using weapon feats).

There are also sages and other scholars in Thorncity who study the history of the Free Peoples and the Kinslayer War, so seeking out the appropriate specialist may give you some insight. I'll typically give hints in item descriptions that might suggest the kind of specialist to seek out. For example, you know that the bracers' runes are written in the same alphabet as your sword, and Geraint mentioned that Hrek bragged about the sword being of dwarven make.

Are bracers wearable by a lupine? (i.e.. they don't count as armour)

Yes. Basically, if they're the kind of thing that an elf (or magic-user in classic DnD) can wear, then a Lupine can wear it. That's how I'm interpreting it anyway.

8-)

I didn't have Corvin take the bracers because he didn't notice them, although as a player I certainly noticed. :)

Honestly, I'd prefer if we by default assue that something that one character notices, the other characters do too, and Mordred very explicitly noticed them. It can be assumed that you all are working together in good faith and pointing things out to each other without the players having to explicitly specify that. Now, if there's a situation where communication is more limited (i.e. you guys are sneaking, or being watched, or whatever), then maybe we won't assume that. But looting a room? Meh.

None of us are computers, I don't need you to painstakingly lay out every little thing your characters do. I know some DM's insist on that, and I can see the value in being that precise, but that's not the style of game I run.

OK no worries, can we retro-fit that Corvin took them as well?

I'm not saying that means they are his, although he certainly wouldn't say no to getting his AC down. :D

Agreed!

And I am also of course ok with Corvin to take them for a spin ;)

All -
As you all know, I have a lot going on in Real Life assisting my eldest son with his divorce. As such I need to drop some games and unfortunately this is the fastest paced game I am in and the one I am having the hardest time keeping up with. Best of luck to all you. I really enjoyed the game and the storyline.

No problem! We'll keep Kasper around as a henchman. He'll probably take half XP for now, but if ever you want to rejoin, he'll be here waiting for you, and we can double his XP to bring it up to the level of the other players at that time.

Are there only elves in this world's history who used that language, or are there also stories of Fae and maybe other more dark mystical creatures who are known for using that language?

Quick heads up. My job hunt is heating up, and I'm starting to get bites. This is of course, excellent news (I like eating), but it does mean my posting may be a bit more infrequent than it has been as I prep for job interviews and the like. I am confident I can stick to my minimum of 2-3 posts per week, but I may not be able to post much more frequently than that for the next week or so.

Heads up you two, I just realized that Lupines don't get the Hear Noises thief ability. While that makes sense considering Lupine is just a reskinning of the Monk, it *doesn't* make sense that canine people wouldn't have the Hear Noises ability, considering the tremendous hearing capabilities of canines. So, I've added a new House Rule where Lupines get the Hear Noises ability. They start at +5, and it goes up as fast as it does for a Thief.
