We could do a 4 person stretcher, one per corner if need be.

First he can't go in the caves, now he's a heavy load to cart back to town. One of these days, being a "man of girth" is going to work in Lug's favor.
Re: Expedition - Rhodri/GoldFinger - 5 April, 1 VC
It just happened, and it was called "ripping the white goblin a new one."
Re: Expedition - Rhodri/GoldFinger - 5 April, 1 VC
But that wasn't related to his size at all. He could have done the same thing at five-foot nothin' and 125 lbs. It's not like he got a damage bonus for being large.

He's not fat, he's big boned!

Re: Expedition - Rhodri/GoldFinger - 5 April, 1 VC
I'm narrativizing the rolls! Clearly he wrecked the monster because he was huge.
edit: said another way, he wouldn't have rolled a crit if he wasn't so big and powerful.

Re: Expedition - Rhodri/GoldFinger - 5 April, 1 VC
His 20 wouldnt have been a 20 if he weren't oversized?
In LL, as in D&D, there's no mechanical relationship between power and size. I made Lug big because it would be fun to make Lug big, not because it gave him any advantage in combat. It's been a problem a couple of times now; I'm just hoping the party will come across a high shelf they need something down from.

Re: Expedition - Rhodri/GoldFinger - 5 April, 1 VC
We could camp in the goblin lair and just use Lug to block the entrance... See? Useful!

Now you're talking!
Re: Expedition - Rhodri/GoldFinger - 5 April, 1 VC
Yes, I'm saying he wouldn't have rolled a 20 if he wasn't so big!
And also yes, it's been established that he plugs the entrance nicely--not sure if he'll heal all that well serving as a barricade, but it will be very useful to the party while they wait for Rhodri to wake up

Well, that's certainly an interesting view of how dice work.
Re: Expedition - Rhodri/GoldFinger - 5 April, 1 VC
Narrativizing! The dice tell us how the story goes, but nobody in the game world has access to dice rolls, so the story in-world is: Lug was big, he hits hard, he messed the goblin up. Straightforward benefit.

I think its possible Orrin may wake before nightfall, fingers crossed. It was his shield arm that caught the brunt of that blow, so he may still have use of his axe.

April 14, 1 VC - 6:10pm
The party rearranges its camp, making Lug and Orrin as comfortable as possible under the overhanging roots of the giant tree, and waits out the rest of the afternoon in the tree's shade, surrounded by the corpses of their fallen enemies.
Kennit, intrigued by the blade in his hand, of which he has great difficulty letting go, seeks out its scabbard and finds it strapped still to the white goblin's body. It is made of old yet sturdy leather, dyed black like the blade of the sword itself, etched with silver and red whorls and abstract patterns that seem to crawl under his eyes. Near the opening at the top there is a small sterling silver skull attached to the scabbard, and as he sheathes the sword the skull finds its home nestled into a small recess in the sword's heavy hilt that he had not even noticed before. Clearly these items are designed specifically to be used together. The halfling belts on the sword and feels its uneasy weight on his hip, and after a few moments feels compelled to draw the sword once again and make more practice swings with it.
He feels unsettled, restless just waiting here in the clearing for something to happen. The wielder of a sword with power like this one possesses should be out in the world making things happen. Making all the things happen. Surrounded by his injured allies, he finds he can do nothing but wait, a scowl etched on to his face.
Before nightfall, Orrin wakes, his arm throbbing horribly but apparently with no major breaks, perhaps just a fracture in his forearm that should heal with time.

"Ahh...the dwarf wakens. Don't worry my friend, you're not in a goblin cell. That old white bast'rd is slain. Though he almost took our giant down with him." He motions to the sleeping Lug. "I wish I had more food to offer you, but there is only wolf if you don't like your trail rations."
You've reminded me that we should have searched those goblins over. Kennit and the group probably would do so before Orrin awakens, but if not, we can still do it now.

Re: Expedition - Rhodri/GoldFinger - 5 April, 1 VC
Kennit, Numen and Naila search the goblin band for goodies, and find between them 27 gold pieces in assorted coins, the sword (already pilfered), and a leather pouch full of coarse black hair (also on the belt of the white goblin). The hair has the slightly sweet odor of organic mass left to rot, but is still recognizable as beard hair. Everything else is worthless, or damaged beyond usefulness.

Re: Expedition - Rhodri/GoldFinger - 5 April, 1 VC
Orrin tries to sit up, and groans loudly. "Gods be damned, that hurts. He flexes the muscles on his arm gingerly, wincing with pain when he moves it around.
"Did we win?" He looks around and takes stock of things. He sees Lug and Rhodri and releases a heavy breath.
"What now? I can walk for sure, but it looks like the big guy's gonna be laid out for a while. I'm good for rations, thanks. What I really want is a tankard of ale. Something strong, like Ghrym serves on the weekend. Where do we stand? Gonna wait until they wake up and then skedaddle?"
....my....precioussssss....

I wonder if killing this goblin leader will be enough to get the Archduck's 1,000 gp reward. Maybe we should bring his head back with us.
