"Martha, must have dozed off there... what be the sigil on yon tabard? May I?" Rolfo will see if he can identify the sigil. (Roll, if needed: Ability Check: [1d20] = 15)

Heltel and Burt will move on with the other characters, down below, ready for trouble. When Burt sees the pool of black algae, he spits loudly. "Best be sure it don't glob up and attack like that pool up above... Wait a minute..." Seeing the skull with the glowing eyes, he makes ready with his spear but stays well back.

Heltel, meanwhile, attempts to communicate with the skull, thinking it may hold some warning or message: "Speak and do no threaten or we will not suffer you to exist much longer!"

OOC: Sorry everybody, been hard to keep up lately...

Goratrix perused the new findings from teh chest's hidden compartment. Seeing the steel vial with colored liquid he exclaims: "I trust nothing that we find on this accursed place be it beast, man or accoutrement. T'is bad we don't have a prisoner we could test that concoction on..."

Uriel, after covering the skull with the cloth and leaving the room, looks back and observes what the others are doing in that ghastly room.

Ragnar slowly reaches out and slides the cloth off the skull. He stares into the glowing eyes for a few moments.

(If he doesn't feel any bad vibes from the skull he will reach out with both hands and grasp the skull)

Eldarial frowns in confusion when Uriel covers the pool, and she walks closer and is about to ask him why he did that, when Ragnar uncovers the pool and the skull.

She gasps and looks at the skull...

OOC: Does she need to roll a saving throw?

Aengus and Darvin do their best to resist the urge to look into the pool but the urge is too alluring. When they arrive at the pool another skull with glowing eyes pops up in front of each of them. They now feel the urge to pick the skull up.

Crow, seeing others fleeing the room stops and puts his arms out to stop the others.
DM: Yes they are fleeing up towards you.

"Martha, must have dozed off there... what be the sigil on yon tabard? May I?" Rolfo inspects the cloak and has seen this symbol before in old wives tales and nightmarish stories from his youth. This symbol is the symbol of chaos.

Heltel and Burt move on with the others, down below, ready for trouble. When Burt sees the pool of black algae, he spits loudly. "Best be sure it don't glob up and attack like that pool up above... Wait a minute..." Seeing the skull with the glowing eyes, he makes ready with his spear but stays well back.

Heltel, meanwhile, attempts to communicate with the skull, thinking it may hold some warning or message: "Speak and do not threaten or we will not suffer you to exist much longer!" but he finds it doesn't react it just sits atop the pool it's glowing eyes are empty and lifeless.

Goratrix perused the new findings from the chest's hidden compartment.

He reaches out and grasps the skull with no ill effects. The skull is cold and wet and continues to glow from it's eye sockets

Eldarial frowns in confusion when Uriel covers the pool, and she walks closer and is about to ask him why he did that, when Ragnar uncovers the pool and the skull.

She gasps and looks at the skull...

DM: No saves are required.

Crow throws his torch at the pool of gunk and runs and tackles Darvin to keep him from picking up one of the ghastly skulls!

Bronn runs and tackles his brother Aengus to keep him from picking up one of the ghastly skulls!

Aengus and Darvin continue to try to resist the lure of the skulls in the pool of gunk.

"What's this, Martha, the old sign of chaos? Aye, chaos is what we be findin in this here deathrot nightmare crypt... Be on yer guard, now..." Rolfo's warning may have been to himself, to Martha, or to anyone in earshot.

Heltel notices the commotion going on with the skulls and imagines he might know what is going on. "The skulls!" he yells. "Destroy them!" He searches around for a loose object such as a rock or brick to throw at the second skull, not wanting to hurt his companion holding the first.

Heltel Attack Roll, throwing: [1d20] = 5; Improvised weapon damage: [1d4] = 2 or [1d6] = 3 (Didn't have time to look up the damage for sure, but looks like it doesn't matter anyway!)

Burt, seeing Heltel, reacts similarly and attempts to crack the second skull clumsily with his spear.

Burt Attack/Damage Rolls, Spear: [1d20-1] = 4-1 = 3; [1d8-1] = 8-1 = 7 (OMG... )

Crow throws his torch at the pool of gunk. The torch hisses and sputters as it meets the water and the flames die out. Crow then runs and tackles Darvin slamming hard into the wet stone floor. Darvin still feels the same urge to grasp the skull.

Bronn runs and tackles his brother Aengus and they both slam hard into the stone floor.

Aengus and Darvin still feel the urge to grasp the skull though nothing feels forced or unstoppable.

DM: Think of it like a craving for a cigarette, a coke, or a beer. It's not easy to resist but you could if you avoided it. Are Crow and Bronn holding them down?

Heltel notices the commotion going on with the skulls and imagines he might know what is going on. "The skulls!" he yells. "Destroy them!" He searches around and finds a rock that he chucks at the pool. It skips perfectly along the water and clanks against the wall but comes nowhere near the skulls he was aiming for.

Burt, seeing Heltel, reacts similarly and attempts to crack the second skull clumsily with his spear. His spear smacks the water like a boat oar splashing decrepit slimy water over everyone who is around the pool.

Crow and Bronn hold Darvin and Aengus down, while keeping from looking toward the pool themselves.

Crow shouts, "Smash those skulls!"

Eldarial staggers back in disgust and looks down at herself before saying, "Nice! Real nice!" in a very sarcastic tone. She forgets about the pool and the skull and begins to try and wipe the slimy water off her clothes.

Burt makes another wild swing at the skulls, wielding his spear with no skill and, likewise, no beginner's luck.

Burt Attack/Damage Rolls, Spear: [1d20-1] = 5-1 = 4; [1d8-1] = 4-1 = 3

Heltel decides not to keep throwing rocks and instead tries to smash one of the skulls with his mace.

Heltel Attack Roll, Mace: [1d20+1] = 17+1 = 18; Damage: [1d6+1] = 3+1 = 4

"Hmmm, chaos..." mutters Rolfo, then tries the cloak on for size and effect, ignoring his own warning from a moment before. "I know, Martha, I know..." he says and follows the others deeper in to find out what all the commotion is.

DM: My apologies I forgot to post some additional description about this room that I only gave to Ragnar on a spoiler tag. So in case you missed it here it is.

"The walls are decorated with elaborate tile mosaics depicting foul ceremonies to horrific and baleful fiends. The walls are slick with condensation and black algae. The condensation runs in rivulets and collects in a long, brackish pool set in the center of the hall"

Eldarial staggers back in disgust and looks down at herself before saying, "Nice! Real nice!" in a very sarcastic tone. She forgets about the pool and the skull and begins to wipe the slimy water off her clothes. It appears to her to be nothing but old slimy stagnant water.

Burt makes another wild swing at the skulls, wielding his spear with no skill and again splashes stagnant water everywhere without making contact with a skull.

Burt Attack/Damage Rolls, Spear: [1d20-1] = 5-1 = 4; [1d8-1] = 4-1 = 3

Heltel decides not to keep throwing rocks and instead smashes one of the skulls with his mace. The skull cracks and pieces fall off of it as the maces slams into it. The light in the eyes dissipates and a small wisp of it's essence flies towards the southern exit of the room. As it flies it lightly illuminates the hall and then disappears around the corner.

Heltel Attack Roll, Mace: [1d20+1] = 17+1 = 18; Damage: [1d6+1] = 3+1 = 4

"Hmmm, chaos..." mutters Rolfo, he tries the robe on and while dusty, moldy, & rotten, the ratty gray robe fits and covers him completely when the hood is flipped up. "I know, Martha, I know..."

DM: Did Rolfo want to continue past this room? I thought he was in the pool room with everyone else. He will have to be to try on the robe.

Other Actions?

I thought there was also a robe in the room with the chests... if there wasn't something with a sigil in that room then I guess it's a robe and that he's totally ignoring the skulls, ha ha...

Eldarial wipes as much of the water off of her as she can and then she returns to the alcoves, systematically going to each one. Using her spear, the pulls the robe out of each alcove and examines in, just to make sure they haven't missed anything.
She then is ready to move on and if she sees Rolfo (and companions) doing so, she follows.

DM: There was a silk tabard with the same symbol. The robes are in the room with the pool of skulls, did you want to don the tabard?

ooc: Aengus grabbed the stuff he found in the chest and is being held down by Bronn due to the compulsion of the skulls.

Seeing a skull successfully smashed, Crow yells to Bronn, "Let's smash them skulls, we can tackle 'em again if we need to!"

With that Crow attacks one of the remaining skulls with his flail:
Crow attack with flail: to hit [1d20] = 15, damage [1d6] = 4

Bronn attacks the skull Crow is not attacking with his spear:
Bronn attack with spear: to hit [1d20] = 19, damage [1d8-1] = 6-1 = 5

Eh, let's just forget the tabard/robe/sigil thing for now. Clearly I missed a few things...

Rolfo, now caught up with his fellows, looks into the crowded room to see what all the commotion is.

Burt, persistent even if unskillful, again tries his spear, this time poking at the remaining skull.

Burt Attack/Damage Rolls, Spear: [1d20-1] = 14-1 = 13; [1d8-1] = 5-1 = 4

Heltel also keeps on the attack.

Heltel Attack Roll, Mace: [1d20+1] = 7+1 = 8; Damage: [1d6+1] = 4+1 = 5
