Chapter 05: The depths of despair

Korin "Mighta been lingerin goblin farts." the dwarf jokes.

Ox- Follows his friends into room a couple feet behind.

Norbold Ernessaeia [Sylvanian Elf Cleric: Scale Mail AC 6 : 4 / 4 HP]:

Says,

" Hmm, ok then, there may just be a volcanic vent or hot spring nearby then. "

[Dram]

Ox- Maybe Korin released some hot air. Ox laughs All that stale ale.

[Nordbo]

The merry band moves jokingly down the narrow passage, one after another, with Jacob up front checking for traps. He is not able to detect any traps here - and so the group comes to a room that opens up at various angles.

A damp trickle is visible on the immediate right wall, seeping from the ceiling.

Further up right a similarly narrow passage continues.

To the left, in an opening or niche, stands a statue of some kind, on a pillar-like foundation.

As Jacob bends down to pick up his torch, he notices what seems to be broken egg shells lying on the floor, and even more can be spotted on the floor towards the statue part of the room.

Korin "This place gets stranger n stranger don't it?"

"Can anyone ID the egg shells as bird or reptilian?

Let's have a closer look at that statue! "

[Dram]

Ox- Yes things are getting stranger and stranger. Do goblins lay egg?

Korin replies to Ox "Not that I know of."

[Nordbo]

Standing at the foot of the statue the group can see that its base is covered with dried layers of egg remnants, and lots of eggshells are either stuck to this mess or lie strewn around the base. The shells seem to be of regular chicken egg size. It seems like they have been smashed in some kind of ritual offering to the statue or the deity; the figure depicts an ugly goblinoid being, slightly larger than real life goblin size, with one hand raised high. There is an inscription on the base: "Th'ach Grr'umsh"

Korin "Throw an egg at it."

Norbold understands Goblin, what does, "Th'ach Grr'umsh", mean?

Norbold says to Korin,

"Now where are we going to find eggs? Maybe we could use your skull Korin ! "

Korin the dwarf retorts "Didn't you lay some eggs last time we slept Norbold?"

[Nordbo]

Everyone except Korin can read that the inscription says "Son of Grr'umsh"

Korin "Bah just smash the thing already."

Says,

" Jacob & Korin, search it for traps & secret compartments, then we try & move it away from the wall to check for a secret door. "

[Nordbo]

Just to clarify: There are two narrow corridors leading to this room. If you stand facing the statue, the one you came through is to your rear left; and to your rear right, there is another passage.

Jacob sighs outwardly, walking over to the statue, "Sure, send us to search the egg covered statue of a goblin... I better not get ill from whatever this stuff is..."

He then proceeds to search the statue and the surrounding base and walls for any traps or secret compartments.

Korin walks up to the statue and tries to kick it over.

[Dram]

Ox- Will search for secret door in this room. Did not the goblins run in here?
