Moonstone chuckles, snatching the pot from the counter and raising it over her head in mock concern. “How about I just pour you are refill and turn the kettle, so we can brew a new pot?”

{Lilly}

Lilly puts on her best pout and puppy dog eyes, though she doesn't hold them very long before breaking into a grin. She pushes her cup towards Moonstone. "Oh alright. I suppose I can compromise."

Grinning, Moonstone fills Lilly’s cup and tops off her own to use the last of the tea. She fills and turns on the kettle, rinses the teapot, and empties and refills the infuser.

“Food?” Galgaliel says, professionalism completely forgotten. “Like actual, for real, Earth food that you digest and everything? I’ll be right there!” he says. Then, after a quiet moment, the Ofanim-wannabe adds a bit more sedately, “Is that really strange, Special Agent Johnson? Processing food and everything that goes with it, I mean.”

"Just the first few times." Marduk responds. He decides not to talk about defecating as he thinks it be better for Galgaliel to learn about that on his own.

“Oh, okay… Cya in about five minutes then,” Galgaliel says, and Marduk can almost see the Reliever bouncing up and down behind the wheel.

Marduk hangs up and turns to Ms. Reid, "Special Agent Greer will be here in 5 minutes. He is looking forward to trying your food. None for me, thank you. I'm not hungry."

He then steps over to one of the windows and looks over his notepad at his notes.

Moonstone smiles. “I think we can wait that long,” she says. “And if you get hungry later, don’t hesitate to ask. I can throw something together quickly or grab something from downstairs.”

{Lilly}

Lilly's face twists into a look of horror at the realization she is going to have to wait five whole minutes before eating the food laid out in front of her. Taunting her. Mocking her. She takes a deep breath, summons all of her patience as a Cherub, folds her hands and waits. Sort of. There's a lot of bouncing involved. And thumb drumming. And glancing at the clock. And the door. And the sandwiches. Oh yes. Lots of looking at the sandwiches. And the mangoes. Even the chips, though she's had so many chips in her life that those don't hold her attention quite as fiercely as the sandwiches and mangoes.

Catching Lilly’s wistful glances and impatient fidgeting, Moonstone says, “If you’re that hungry, we still have cookies left.” She walks over to the counter to get them. “Just don’t spoil your appetite for lunch. Tuna and mangoes are a lot more satisfying than cookies. And they’ll keep you full longer.” She offers the plate to Lilly.

"Oh I'm not hungry," says Lilly, (though she does take a cookie). "Angels, Jezreel possibly excepted, don't get hungry. We eat for pleasure, or to blend in better. It's just, I haven't eaten a real, homemade meal since..."

Lilly does some counting on her fingers. "The seventies I think, back when Aunt Abigail was still healthy enough to cook. Since then it's been almost nothing but bar food, store bought cookies and ice cream."

Lilly licks her lips as she eyes those sandwiches and mangoes. "So yeah."

[Marduk]

Marduk listens to the exchange. Food is a distraction. The time it takes to eat is time better spent hunting and killing demons. Of course then there's the whole messy process of expelling the remains. How God could love humans when he makes them have to do that. Now enjoying ale, mead, or whiskey after a successful battle, that makes more sense. Its part of celebrating victory over evil.

Moonstone’s lips pull down in concern; her eyes well with sympathy. “You poor thing,” she says, “Well, I can take care of you while you’re here. But, don’t you know how to cook? Didn’t your Aunt Abigail ever teach you?” She shakes her head.

As Marduk ponders the end results of digestion, a rapid knock sounds against the door.

Moonstone turns towards the door as if to open it.

Jezreel shakes her head. “Wait, Moonstone.” she says before glancing at Marduk for his input.

Lilly grins. "Oh she tried. Lord bless her soul, she tried. I can do basic stuff. Like spaghetti. And PB&J's. But nothing that's really worth the effort when you don't need to eat."

Lilly's smile fades, and she angles her chair so that she can get herself between Jezreel and Willow and the door as fast as possible if she needs to.

Marduk looks out any available window where he can see what's at the door, or he moves to look through the door's peephole if it has one.

The beach house sports lots of windows, so Marduk simply needs to move a curtain a small way to notice that Galgaliel stands at the door, bouncing up and down on his toes as he wait for someone to answer the door.

“Got here as fast as I could, sir,” Galgaliel rattles off like a tv announcer reading disclaimers. Then, for Jezreel’s benefit as well as Marduks, he adds, “Well, without going more than ten miles an hour over the speed limit, like you said.” He hesitates and takes a breath. “I knocked on the door because it’s a private residence. That’s right, right?” The Reliever asks gnawing at his lower lip. “Because it’s a house, not a business. Except it is a business downstairs, so was I still right to knock, Special Agent Johnson? Humans have so many rules! How do you remember them all, sir?”

Lilly giggles. "Time Galgaliel. Give yourself a few decades down here, and you'll get it. Now hurry up and wash your hands and get to the table. I've been staring at these sandwiches for ages. Well, it's felt like ages anyway. If I got to wait any longer, I'm gonna...erm, I dunno. Fling cookie crumbs at you."
