No need to complicate things too much, so I will leave the details of how you met up to you.
But we can say Hreigă was still back at the Inn, mulling over the group which departed into the wilds, and decided to go after them, taking Slinker along for the ride? Sounds good?
Trekking to the woods, you can just link up with the others while they are taking a break from falling into pits

Been seeing this discussed in a couple of PbP I am in, so wanted to drop the question here also - should we nominate a 'Caller', like in the good old days?
It probably is not justifiable nowadays around the table, but it might be useful in keeping PbP games moving?

I think this one is form Moldvay BX D&D - 1981 (for old geezers)

To avoid confusion, the players should select one player to speak for the entire group or party. That player is named the caller. When unusual situations occur, each player may want to say what his or her characters is doing. The caller should make sure that he or she is accurately representing all the player characters' wishes. The caller is a mediator between the players and the DM, and should not judge what the player characters should do.

In PbP terms I would say it just means the person who 'collates' what the group has been discussing, and makes an 'executive' decision on how to move forward/what to do next, so as to keep the game from stalling.

I think it pre-dates Moldvay but am not 100% sure. The definition is accurate though. I am already a caller in another game so vote for someone else.

Bodkin

Not a spell caster. Would Bodkin be able to throw a javelin and draw his mace before they are in melee?

We'll assume he was holding a javelin at the ready. So yes.
Otherwise it would be a no.
He would be able to draw and throw the javelin, but that would be it.

I'll let you know when the movement/missile phase comes up.
