Town maps aren't necessary. Especially Zelkor's Ferry. It's small and easily navigable. In fact, I'll toss up a map of Zelkor's Ferry on the Maps thread this evening.

* back entrance called the Mouth of Doom, five miles south and a bit west of Zelkor’s Ferry

---- a few miles past that large hill just to the south of the Ferry.
* reports that gnolls have an outpost there
* past the gnoll hill is a bigger hill. The Mouth opens into that hill. Hunk of stone carved to look like some demonic mouth. Some stairs inside the mouth leading into the dark."
* first a chamber filled with doors. Some false, with terrible traps.
---- Hideous scything blades. Pits with poisoned spikes angled just right to skewer yer nether regions. Possibly a pressure plate or something to step on to activate pit trap o' spikes
* real doors lead to treasures
* there are also bandits
* one room is full of pools filled with magic, but also home to terrible beasts of the deep
* There’s an altar dedicated to all the gods living or dead who let chance rule their lives
---- Press your hand into each alcove, donate some coins and perhaps you'll get a boon
---- Or perhaps your soul will be sucked into the altar, to writhe in torment for all eternity
* the last party set out six weeks or so ago and haven’t been heard of since

Yeah, I'm sure the developers would tut-tut-tut at me and tell me I'm being too generous with the rumors there (whether they're true or not), but I'm not really a fan of the little one-liner rumors that adventures come with and expect the DM to be parsimonious about. People talk! And they know stuff about the place where they live! Especially people who live in tiny little outposts where they don't see new faces very often.

Totally agree! I usually mash all the rumors together and give them all out when I DM!

And apologies, I was editing my post as you were writing yours. But I'm glad you saw my question about distinguishing trapped doors!

Unless folks wish to reply to Hektor's question, I will be moving the game along to one of the rooms upstairs for you folks to continue talking your plans tomorrow (Friday) afternoon/evening (Central Time). I guess we can all just assume that the others just get up and head upstairs, while Hektor stares at them in confusion, before shrugging and following along.

All good - when my kids were small and I went to put them to bed, it happened many, MANY times that I just fell asleep on the floor in their bedroom hahaha.
