"Dela, wait here, I'm going with Mirek." Dree will gather any remaining canteens or other items to transport the water,
"I hope you have no objection to me accompanying you."
“None at all. Two sets of eyes will make sure we don’t run into trouble. Thanks.”
With that settled, Mirek will head out, scouting.

"I guess I get to play Shepherd to these Lost Sheep then. Right ho, see you guys later."
The barbarian tacks his horse to the rear of the scattered figures so he can herd any stragglers in the direction their companions walk.
can you just clear up my confusion. Are these stragglers walking for half a days travel to the watering hole in the distance or heading towards the supposedly friendly tribal camp that Ustasi traded with before?

These are the survivors of that trading camp, and they are walking toward the water - more likely a creek - and toward an ally's camp.

Okay, so Dela's camp was attacked by members of one tribe who they had traded with before and now as refugees are trying to get to another different camp which has water nearby.
Amistad may suspect this second camp may have suffered the same fate but keeps his suspicion to himself.

Staying some distance away from Mirek so that they can cover more ground, Dree scouts what lays ahead.

Aden waits until the two leave and after a few minutes leaves the group, following his two compatriots. His idea is that an attack, if it is to come will be on his friends and from behind, so he intends to trail along after them and and try to catch any ambushers by surprise. He is being stealthy as he rides. [Stealth: 17+4=21]

You all ride in a loose group, close enough to keep sight of each other as you move westward. Amistead sees the tops of several trees over the next ridge, in a line from left to right - a fairly sure sign of water in this parched land. Aden, from his trailing position, watches the barbarian riding ahead of him, with the ranger to his right and the thief to his left. Their mounts pick their way across the broken ground, throwing up only a little dust, as the horses are moving at a fast walk.
May I have a Perception roll from everyone, please?

Amistad
Following his observation of the area, he has noted that ranger Dree is unaware of an orcish guard just a few yards away in a clump of bushes, hidden from her sight but not his.
Using any prearranged signals to halt, the barbarian will shout the call and ride over to Dree, not going closer to the orc until he acknowledges our presence (hopefully not with an arrow).

I’m assuming Mirek and companion are too far ahead to hear anything. Is that incorrect?

I would assume if we all rode out together we would maintain contact distance.

This is correct.
The Orcs said they couldn’t make it to the water, hence Merik going ahead. Did no one stay with the Orcs? Or have circumstances changed and we can all travel as a group? If so, that’s a change and I need some clarification on what is happening.

In my post, #202 above, I scripted Amistad staying as the Mirek & Dree rode off then Aden followed behind to watch over them. But then this was posted. You all ride in a loose group, close enough to keep sight of each other as you move westward
.
Let's go with the group together

Okay.
Mirek slowed when he heard the call, looking for a threat now that the warning had been given.

Dree, oblivious to the orc, hears Armistad's shout and stops peering in the barbarian's direction. She wonders if he has seen something that she has missed.
