Re: BS
I don't care if it is pvp, but it's not something I especially desire.
Neil Gaiman: "I started imagining a world in which we replaced the phrase 'politically correct' wherever we could with 'treating other people with respect', and it made me smile."..."I know what you’re thinking now. You’re thinking 'Oh my god, that’s treating other people with respect gone mad!'"

Ok, then. No PVP. For now. We can revisit this issue later.
The group of you will fight as a team, as will others in the tavern.

Re: BS
I'm ready to kick this off. Let's wait a bit longer for some characters to be finalized.
But in the meantime, please go check out The Saucy Tart. viewtopic.php?f=866&t=9434
I plan on introducing the tavern later today with a bit of chatter before the fight.

You clearly rolled a 51-65 on the Harlot table.Monsieur Rose wrote:Welcome to The Saucy Tart. (With an appropriate shout-out to Appendix C.)

Cool....no PVP, thanks Rose! I'm in and coming up with a character as we speak.....I'm thinking a former Captain of Guards (in a small village) that spent too much time in places like The Saucy Tart, and is now decidedly more a mercenary.....
How about.......Evan Schris, human male Fighter; 6'1"; 196 lbs:

Re: BS
Ok. I've started us off. Good luck!
About the footer. The numbers are base percentages to succeed in Pummelling or Grappling. Overbearing uses the same chance to hit as grappling.
Ah'Tak | Half-Orc | Cleric: 1 | HP: 10 | Move: 9
Pummel: (def/attack) 70/23 Grapple:70/16
Evan| Human | Fighter | HP: 11 | Move: 9
P:60/17 G:60/11
For example: Ah'Tak has a base chance of someone to pummel him of 70%. He has a bonus to pummel someone else of 23%.
Evan has a base chance to be grappled of 60%, and a bonus of 11% to grapple someone else.
Say they have words and fight. Ah'Tak, uh...attacks, and rolls a 50 on a d100. His bonus of 23% is subtracted and beats Evan's defense of 60. Evan is punched. A second d100 is rolled and results follow.
Evan, being now in the fight, punches back. He rolls a 90. His bonus of 17 is not quite enough to beat Ah'Tak's defense of 70. Evan misses.
I'm not going to present the numbers for the results, I'll just keep those hidden for now.
These numbers don't take into account size or status effects. They do include armor and gauntlets. If you find other things to beat people with, these numbers will change. Slightly.
During each action, I need players to make 2 d100 rolls.

Re: BS
With "Today's the day" and "you know what to expect," does that mean that everyone in the bar is planning on a brawl?
I was wondering how the fighting would get started. Maybe a Malcom Reynolds always finding himself looking for a quiet drink in an alliance-friendly bar on Unification Day kind of thing. But this works too!
BTW, I fiddled with Lug's armor since I first posted him. Do his current numbers reflect leather armor (which is what I ended up settling on)?

Further, is there an organization or established set of "rules" that all fighters are aware of?Zhym wrote:With "Today's the day" and "you know what to expect," does that mean that everyone in the bar is planning on a brawl?

Re: BS
I edited my example. I added instead of subtracting. The Base defense number is what you must roll under.
Good catch! I'll update that momentarily.Zhym wrote:BTW, I fiddled with Lug's armor since I first posted him. Do his current numbers reflect leather armor (which is what I ended up settling on)?
Both good questions. I'll address that in game. The rumors are that the new tavern arranges a melee once a week, it's up to you whether your character came because of this or was dragged here by your friends. And ROE will be laid out before the fight.dmw71 wrote:Further, is there an organization or established set of "rules" that all fighters are aware of?Zhym wrote:With "Today's the day" and "you know what to expect," does that mean that everyone in the bar is planning on a brawl?

Are you sure about that?Monsieur Rose wrote:And ROE will be laid out before the fight.
Re: BS
Seeing all those non-brawly types in the bar, I wonder if we're the only ones who didn't think to bring some spellcaster support with us. Offensive spells are out, but there's a lot you can do with support spells.
I guess we'll find out!
