Ogre frowns: You're right. I'm just feeling like a trapped rat right now.

Well played. Elwita is losing patience quickly, too, I would just hate to lead the group into a total party kill (or close to it) which is a legitimate concern given what we're facing.

"Would we be able to see through it? Or, if it didn't work, would we be fighting them in fog where we couldn't see, either?"
No, we would be unable to see thru the fog as well, but if we keep to the walls we won't get lost. And if we keep quiet we should be able to hear the dread beasts' approach, at which time our Cleric friend may be able to frighten them away. Phanstern thinks quietly for a few seconds. With any luck at all, if they do come at us, it will not be in a cluster, as before, but one or two at a time, trying to follow the sounds of our movement in the fog.

Freda shakes her head. "Too many 'ifs' for my blood. Besides... Those things are pack hunters. If they get a wiff of us in there, they'll come at us with everything they have. And, don't forget, if he can't see them, then he probably can't turn them."

She adds, "It's a good plan for the right enemy, Phan. I just don't think this is the right enemy."

Elwita starts grumbling to herself; something about not having a choice.

"We've wasted too much time here. How about this?" Elwita starts. She looks at each member of the group one at a time.

"Most of you look pretty fast. My recollection is that we only need to make it fifteen feet or so to that other door. We could do a couple of things:" she breaks, attempting to organize her thoughts.

"We could attempt to lure them away. I don't know how smart these things are, but maybe we could toss something into the far corner (ooc: southeast) and, taking advantage of the pack mentality Freda mentioned, with the quickest members in front, we could make a dash for it. I'm clearly the slowest of us. I would enter the room last and make a fighting retreat, holding them off as long as possilbe until I'm able to follow everyone else through the door."

Her head perks up. "Maybe, if we can lure them all into the far corner, the person in front -- which of you do you recon is the fastest? -- could empty the contents of a flask of oil, leaving a trail which could be lit, creating a wall of fire to hold them at bay, or at least deter them a bit."

She sighs.

"No matter what we decide, we need to do something. Quickly."

"Thoughts?"

"I think we have to eliminate them. We don't want them behind us or in our way if we're beating a hasty retreat from something else."

"So, first thing, we create a fighting formation with Elwita and Ogre in the front and me and Eljay in the second rank. That way, El and I can attack from the second rank with our spears. Eljay can also attempt to turn some of them."

"But we also want to try and deal some damage to as many of them as possible before we engage them. So after our formation is set, we give two vials of oil to Elwita and then Eljay or I carry a lit torch. Ogre opens the door, Elwita tosses out a few vials of oil (Dread has two) onto the area 10' or so into the room. Then I'll hand the torch to Elwita. Wait until they come at us. Light it up. Then we execute a slow fighting retreat into the hallway, just enough to let only two of them attack us at a time."

Freda shrugs. "It's a little risky, because of their ability to paralyze, but... It's the best plan I can think of. Maybe we can let Ogre use that new magical shield in place of his regular one and it will make him just a little bit harder to hit... "

Phanstern nods. I fear my spells are ill-suited to deal with the undead. I had hoped to save the fog for an escape anyway.

"Agreed, the best plan is to eliminate the threat, however we decide to do it, but, only good armor in combat range is a good idea. Phanstern, you do a flask of oil or two, everybody needs to do some damage." She turns and looks at her new shield before continuing, "If it will help, Ogre, you can use this." She holds it out to the big guy.

Ogre takes the shield and nods resolutely. Then he rifles through his belongings and produces a vial of oil, handing it to Elwita or whoever else might want to throw one. His face assumes a grim aspect: Lets do this then.

Elwita accepts the flask of oil with a reassuring nod. "Ogre, friend, you look to be of less than ideal health, and we're going to need you -- need everyone -- in order to survive this one. Blodgett, are you willing to give Ogre the remaining blue potion we have? Ogre, feel free to use it now or save it to use as you see fit."

"So, here's the plan...

I will go in first. I am thinking I will run as far my legs can carry me to the far side of the room, flask of oil in hand, ready to douse all that I see with oil. Freda. Eljayess. One of you have a torch ready and light them up as soon as possible. I expect to attract the lot of them, so hopefully the rest of you can attack them from the rear. Blodgett, you especially.
"

"The moment is almost upon us. Soon, friend."

"Everyone, get ready." she says matter of factly.

Eljayess also rifles through her pack, producing two vials of holy water. "Here is some holy water, it will do damage, someone take them and use them".

Perhaps I can help somewhat. Phanstern produces a vial. I'm told it's Extra-Healing. It's true, Ogre, we need you at your best right now. I almost forgot about this...Like the mirror.

Phanstern will accept the Holy Water.

Ogre smiles briefly at Elwita feeling a sudden comradeship in arms with these people who had once been strangers. He accepts the potion from Phantasern and drinks half of it. He returns the rest to the mage : Thank you friend He then resumes his post waiting for the signal.

Elwita mulls the option of trying to sneak past the foes within with use of a 'Silence' spell, but, convinced even it isn't a foolproof plan, decides against it. "This is going to hurt." she thinks, but with a potentially full strength Ogre, I like our chances better.

"Let's be smart about this." she starts. "Again, I will go in first and run to the far side of the room, two flasks of oil in hand. When they come after me, and I expect them all to come after me, I will douse as many of them as I can oil. Freda. Eljayess. Both of you. Have a torch ready and light them up as soon as possible. Hopefully, with their attention all drawn to me, the rest of you will all gain an element of surprise, or at least a rear attack.

Pray to your Gods, if you must, and may good fortune fall on our side... but let's do this!
"

Elwita checks the straps binding her hammer to her side, verifying that it's secure. She grasps a flask of oil in each hand, making sure they're already open and ready to be poured and, allowing a few seconds for everyone to make their final preparations, she bursts into the room at her full speed... expecting... waiting... prepared.

Freda nods, and adds, "Ok, but let's get the torches lit here before you make the run."

She pulls one of her six torches out, retrieves her tinder box, and lights the torch. She'll use that torch to light Eljay's.

Phanstern nervously pops the cork on his last oil flask, ready to hurl it into what everyone fears will be a mass of vermin trying to rip Elwita to shreds. He will save the Holy water until all the flames die down.

1/2 Extra-Healing potion marked off.

Healing potion roll is 32 + 6 for a total of 38. Ogre will open the door as soon as everyone is ready to go.
