could I swap this roll out?
I would like to swap it for this result:Pulpatoon wrote:Despite your lack of natural talent, you learned a bit of magic. What did you learn?GreyWolfVT wrote:Abel [1d6] = 6

Hexing (Wisdom)
The caster fixes the target with his will and utters a curse. The caster must specify an action such as “strike with a sword,” “climb a tree,” or “talk to a noble,” and the victim then receives a -1 to his next roll involving this type of action.
The caster may utter a stronger curse, giving his victim a -2 to his roll instead, but must take a -3 penalty to do so. The caster may take a -6 penalty to have this cantrip affect the victim until the next sun-up or sundown.

Cantrip: Druid’s Touch
Druid’s Touch (Wisdom)
Someone with the Druid’s Touch can get any cutting to root, any plant to blossom. No matter how small his garden, he will have an abundant harvest. Normal use of this cantrip causes a single plant to sprout and grow at a prodigious pace (sometimes even springing from the ground before your eyes), or an entire garden to grow at double its normal rate.
This cantrip can even heal a wounded or blighted plant and make it whole again, though doing so gives a -3 penalty to the roll. When the wind is right, a mage with this cantrip can get the trees to tell him their secrets; a -6 penalty allows the mage to speak with a tree, though they often converse in ways alien to man.

Aww you're too kind. I'm really loving how all of our stuff's coming together. I almost feel like I could go for a walk in Herebury and know what's what. At the beginning I was sceptical whether the whole character co-creation thing could work here, but once I decided to see character generation as a game in and of itself, I relaxed and enjoyed the rest.KingOfCowards wrote:I always look forward to reading mb's posts.

GW, I'm pretty sure Pulp wouldn't mind you outfitting yourself with some basics. This isn't D&D after all.GreyWolfVT wrote:Alright well damn starting money blows for a Rogue-Mage .... I only had enough to buy a staff.... left with 2 silvers.... can't even get a sack to carry the pig feed in.

Re: OOC & MW + GW Chat Hut
well I did get clothing, feed for the talking pig and a knife to start but I think the staff might be a bit nicer in a combat situation. Not sure what the armor restrictions are for the combined class though.

It looks like you can wear anything lighter than plate.GreyWolfVT wrote:well I did get clothing, feed for the talking pig and a knife to start but I think the staff might be a bit nicer in a combat situation. Not sure what the armor restrictions are for the combined class though.
1. Record your name, class, and level.
2. Record your ability scores. In the space beside each, record your ability score bonus.
3. Jot down your skills, class abilities, and starting equipment, as well as any other pieces of gear you may want to buy. The Assistant Beast Keeper begins with the following equipment: knife, peasants’ clothing, everything you need to care for your animal companion, and 4d6 silvers.
4. Pick an alignment. Your character may be Lawful, Chaotic, or Neutral. If you can’t decide, simply choose to be Neutral; most people are.
5. Your Base Attack Bonus comes from your class. As a level 1 Rogue-Mage, you have a BAB of +0.
6. Your Initiative is equal to your level, plus your Dexterity bonus, plus 1 for being a Rogue-Mage.
7. Your Armor Class is 10, plus your Dexterity bonus, plus the bonus of any armor you have.
8. Your Fortune Points are 5.
9. Your hit points are 8 plus your Constitution bonus.
10. Fill in your saving throws, below.
11. Record the ‘to hit’ and ‘damage’ statistics for any weapons you think you might use. Your to hit bonus for a melee weapon is your BAB plus your Strength bonus, while you use your Dexterity bonus instead for any missile weapons. Your Strength bonus also adds to the damage of any melee weapon.
Class Abilities
Hit Dice: d8
Initiative Bonus: +1
Armor: The Assistant Beast Keeper may wear any armor lighter than plate.
Fortune’s Favor: The Assistant Beast Keeper has 5 Fortune Points instead of the usual 3.
Highly Skilled: The Assistant Beast Keeper receives two additional skills at first level(provided already during chargen). You gain an additional skill every odd numbered level thereafter (3rd, 5th, 7th, etc).
Spell Casting: The Assistant Beast Keeper may only cast cantrips.
Sense Magic: Being naturally sensitive to the world of magic, Mages may determine if a person, place, or thing is magical. Doing so requires concentration and a few minutes, so mages cannot tell if something is magical simply by being in its presence, and people tend to notice if a mage is staring at them intently and ignoring his food during a meal. The GM may rule that, when in the presence of particularly intense sorcery, the mage notices such immediately.
Level 1
XP: 0
BAB: +0
Saves:
Poison 13
Breath Weapon 16
Polymorph 12
Spell 15
Magic Item 15

Re: OOC & MW + GW Chat Hut
right but that is for assistant beast-keeper what about the rogue-mage part? That is where I am confused.

Re: OOC & MW + GW Chat Hut
Yeah, that's a bit confusing, but the assistant beast keeper is a rogue-mage. The names like assistant beastkeeper, Dwarven runecaster, Halfling outrider, etc. are just more story related names for classes, but the classes are still more or less the same, so:
Assistant beastkeeper = rogue-mage
Dwarven runecaster = warrior-mage
Halfling outrider = warrior-rogue
And so on. So what King wrote above is all of it.
Assistant beastkeeper = rogue-mage
Dwarven runecaster = warrior-mage
Halfling outrider = warrior-rogue
And so on. So what King wrote above is all of it.

Re: OOC & MW + GW Chat Hut
Right well I still only have the 2 silvers so I can buy other copper priced stuff just not Armor. Hmm so how does the AC work is it addition or subtraction like old school D&D?

Re: OOC & MW + GW Chat Hut
GW, AC is additive, based on your class, Dex bonus and then armour mod. Your class starts with AC 10. If you tell me your DEX & what armour you might be wearing I can tell you the total.

Re: OOC & MW + GW Chat Hut
There's a post on armor in the Rules thread. Armor is additive, with leathers being worth a +2 bonus to AC.GreyWolfVT wrote:Right well I still only have the 2 silvers so I can buy other copper priced stuff just not Armor. As far as equipment: anything that you could have conceivably picked up in the course of your daily duties, I have no problem with you saying you just have. So, finding an old feed sack to keep your stuff in is fine. But it's probably careworn burlap, and wouldn't be the best thing to haul a bunch of treasure around in.
Let me know if you have any other questions about equipment. The equipment section of the rules is pretty slim, so a lot of it will come down to my ever-so-capricious whim.
