Ruined Tower of Mad Mortimer
Re: Ruined Tower of Mad Mortimer
Epi
The ranger is quiet staring to the North. She shakes her head and turns around, "Blue what?" Looking back at the "altar" or whatever it may be, "I've seen that symbol before..." Epi snaps her fingers and smiles, "We've all seen that symbol before--Brother Tomas's holy symbol." She then frowns, "Alas I don't see how that helps us currently..."

Odilo like a professor who's just had a student point something out the mage acts like a teacher covering for missing something obvious "Ah well that might explain why only the father can see the blue light as well. Being that no one else if of his religion or prays to his god that is."

Grillock- Searches the altar again for any possible mechanism to activate the altar. Do I need to go get Brother Thoma's holy symbol? I t may open this altar.

Re: Ruined Tower of Mad Mortimer
The sun is high in the sky now as the day begins to grow even warmer.
The giant most-orc keeps guard by walking the perimeter of the ruins. He finds no evidence of an entrance into an underground complex.
Epi experiences a sudden epiphany and reminds the group of Brother Tomas and his giant spiral holy symbol. Unfortunately, she has no idea how knowing that helps in this case.
Although the good Brother's holy symbol is rather large, it is much smaller than the one imprinted on the top of the alter. Also, the imprinted symbol does not show the three barrel shaped charms that adorn the bottom of the one worn by the priest.

Grillock searches the alter again but finds no mechanisms of activation. He searches closer to the floor where the light emanates from. It appears that the stone block is recessed slightly into the stonework of the floor, possibly explaining why it can't be moved by force.

Orando, magus
"Say some prayers of Brother Tomas' religion, perhaps that will open it," says Orando doubtfully.
He checks on the digging progress of his loyal porter.
"Brother Tomas wanted to tell us something before we went here," says Orando. "I wonder if it was explanation why his holy symbol is next to the words 'He will kill us all?'"
"Epi, can you track the ogres from their campfire back to where they came from? Perhaps it will reveal an entrance, or other insight."

"I can give it a try, but I suspect they did not know anything about this place other than a convenient place to camp." The ranger looks around to see if she can find any footprints that might reveal anything about this place."Epi, can you track the ogres from their campfire back to where they came from? Perhaps it was accidentally missed on my part, or in a PM.Inferno wrote:Sorry if I missed your reply to Epi's request, OM... Did Epi find anything when she searched the ogres?
How nice it would be if these threads were searchable.
The ogres were completely broke and had nothing of value whatsoever on them. Their camp was also void of valuables and it looked as though they were simply there to use the fire to cook on.
As Epi studies the ogres path, it becomes quite clear that the ogres were here more than once. However, the path they took was the same every time and they beasts never once walked anywhere other than directly to the shelter and back. The trail leads back the way you all came in, leading back to where the tracks were initially found.
Orando's porters hole is gaining in size slowly and still reveals nothing but stoney dirt.
Odilo suggests going back to town, feebly trying to leave on his own after he gets no response.

Grillock- Follows Odilo. I will go with you Odilo. He may know the into this place.

The design on the alter only shows the spiral, NOT the three barrel shaped charms that you saw on the priests holy symbol.

Odilo and Grillock head back to the town to search for Brother Tomas. "Very well Grillock let us go seek out the good Brother Tomas."

Krual Caine, half-human monster:
If Dowling's attempt fails, the giant beast will try to find a long length of iron in the wreckage of the tower to use as a crowbar to get some leverage to lift the altar.
If the altar won't slide because it's set in, perhaps one end can be lifted up with leverage if an iron bar is found, or else with the giant monster's bare hands.
"RRRRAAAAUGHH!" the thing roared in exertion and anger.

Grillock- Looks at Krual. You sure you want to do that. It may be magically trapped. Or you just wasting your time. Odilo are you able to dispel magic on the altar?

Re: Ruined Tower of Mad Mortimer
Tracing the blue light with the stone does nothing. There is no iron in the ruins that will work as a crowbar.
The monster tries to lift one end of the slab with his bare hands. It doesn't move at all, but the exertion is impressive all the same.
Odilo is adamant about going back to talk to Brother Tomas so he and Grillock begin to depart back towards town. Grillock warns Caine about the possibility of magical traps but it does little to deter the monster. He then shouts to the exhausted mage to see if he can cast dispel magic on the slab, forgetting that he will be completely useless until after he gets some rest.
The pile of dirt from the digging porter continues to grow but he still hasn't found anything of note.
