Re: Chapter 2c - The First Foray (Little Women)
Eduard looks on ruefully as Korok continues to feed the wolf.
"Keep that up and you'll have a friend for life, Korok. I don't know if they'll let her into the city though."

Re: Chapter 2c - The First Foray (Little Women)
Ilfrien will call in a friendly way to the wolf every now and then, trying to get the wolf to approach more closely and potentially start domesticating it, or at least building some trust.
BTW, did Ilfrien heal at all last night? If not, she probably needs to request more healing from someone whose god isn't as much of a jerk as Garmoth is.

Re: Chapter 2c - The First Foray (Little Women)
Yana will have refreshed her spells, so she can cast CLW if needed. She'll also toss what's left of her rations to the wolf as they go, though she doesn't seem to take much enjoyment in it--or in much of anything, at the moment.

Eduard smiles.
"Who says its a male? If you can tame the creature, you should name it Arlandria. I think she'd like that. Good scout, tough in a fight. Yeah, she'd like that."
He looks away.

Re: Chapter 2c - The First Foray (Little Women)
20 Rituals, evening
The party continues up the old path, making good time to the edge of The Perimeter, which they reach just before sunset. It was a beautiful day, the mist lifted and the sun created a cheery atmosphere if not for the corpse on the pony.
Despite all attempts to coax the wolf closer, it still maintains its distance, which is probably just as well since the canine seems to make Applehead uneasy. Once they reach the clearing of The Perimeter, the wolf stops, clearly uneasy at the loss of cover the woods provides, and when the party continues onwards it disappears into the forest.
Clouds roll in as the party cuts through farmland to reach Alleborg. As darkness falls they see points of light dotting the landscape from home hearths or torches being carried by patrollers. Exhausted after a long day, they reach the gate. After inventory and taxes are taken, the party takes stock of their treasure, including Arlandria's belongings.
"The body will need to go to a place of proper interment, and the pony will need to spend the evening in the stables" informs the assessor. "I assume this slit throat is not your doing?"
The party naturally heads to Six Steps from the Gutter, where it is jam-packed. The townsfolk and a smattering of guards. Guffy hands Eduard a message and glares at Hyde and Korok. "A message from your friends."
Upon opening it, the party learns that Yenny, Jaspar and Chet expect to be away for another 12 days or so, as they are training (or in Chet's case, atoning and training). Yenny has left their shares of the proceeds from their adventure at the Temple of Veles. There is no word from Sev.
The party still has Arlandria's corpse and her belongings to deal with. They will know that her home, the Southwest Shires, lie 6 miles or so to the southwest.
They can keep the halfling's corpse at the Temple for the night while they decide what to do. I'll update later with loot, including her possessions. There is the Winter Solstice festival tomorrow, but it is a minor holiday that basically consists of a huge bonfire where an effigy of the traitor king is burned. Also look for your private XP threads for updates on those figures.
Keep in mind that you can train for the next level before reaching the XP for that level; the benefits of that level will take hold once the XP threshold is reached.

Re: Chapter 2c - The First Foray (Little Women)
Loot
All five party members
When you reach the temple, each of the five of you find waiting for you 4 gp and 8 sp from the orc battle and sale of their weapons (use this figure instead of what was provided in the Chapter 2 thread. Someone was nice enough to change out the strange orc coins. Arlandria's share is surrendered to the temple as she's not there to claim it.
Also to deal with are Arlandria's possessions. She has:
1 Studded leather armor
1 Short bow
1 Quiver (24 arrow capacity) with 19 arrows
2 Days standard rations to Ilfrien
6 Pitons
2 Torches to Ilfrien
1 Backpack
1 Flint and steel to Ilfrien
1 Short sword
1 Bedroll
1 Skillet
50' silk rope
1 Grappling hook To Hyde
1 Small sack To Hyde
1 Small sack
1 Set of thieves' tools To Hyde
1 Waterskin
1 Woolen blanket
1 Large belt pouch containing 26 gp, 19 sp, 12 cp
Hyde and Korok
The bags of loot for Eduard and Hyde are considerably larger, reflecting their adventure under the lake. See private forums for your take.
Korok, Yana, Ilfrien
651 sp
892 cp
I will assume that you sell Arlandria's possessions and split the treasure evenly. If you want to work out other treasure arrangements or take some of her items before sale, work it out here. In the absence of action within 24 hours I'll do the math and send out how much to update your character sheet with.
Edit - minor change in the treasure

Eduard nods a thanks to Guffy and pockets the message without reading it. He will look at it later. Duh. Didn't read gud.
He turns to the others. "We need to decide about Arlandria's body. Do we return it to her family, or cremate it and return her belongings later? If we are returning the body, we will have to leave again in the morning."

Re: Chapter 2c - The First Foray (Little Women)
I'm fine with splitting up Arlandria's stuff and then distributing the money.
Korok, Yana, Ilfrien
651 sp
892 cp
Split the silver and copper evenly? 217sp and 297cp split between the three of us?
Korok heads off to look for training, feeling that he will need to be up to par for when they gather a group and assault the orcs.
Earlier you said that Korok would know where to go for training?

Re: Chapter 2c - The First Foray (Little Women)
Ilfrien is fine with an even split between the party members of the coins, but would like to take the torches, rations and flint and steel from Arlandria before the items are sold and the profit split.
She also recovers her cloak from the corpse before laying it down on the temple floor, wrapping back up and complaining that she's been chilly ever since the little woman died.
"Garmoth says, 'the fruit of thy labor is dust--so be gentle while sleeping, that you not disturb your next self.' I've always thought this was counsel to avoid getting mixed up in other people's business, so I'm find with leaving the body here."
She pauses a long while, pondering. "Too bad that wolf didn't come along. It would be great if we could have gone back out with a new halfling PLUS a wolf. Wolves are tough. Confusing, if we named it Arlandria, though." She shakes her head as though clearing away some cobwebs. "I've got no business here in town except to feel better and maybe buy a house. So I'm fine to go with you all as soon as I can walk straight."

Yes, she has a CLW for the 20th, so she can cast that on someone. Several in the party are injured.Enoch wrote:Yana will have refreshed her spells, so she can cast CLW if needed. Training will return one to full hit points too.
Re: Chapter 2c - The First Foray (Little Women)
Yana sighs and looks toward the outer door of Six Steps. "I wish to spend some time with Mother Spana, but I would like to see Arlandia returned to her family first. I can drop in for sunrise service in the morning, and then head to her family's with whomever wants to join."

Re: Chapter 2c - The First Foray (Little Women)
I would join you, Hyde agrees, tho I may need to wait away from her village. The grappling hook may be a good thing to take with us, hah? And these... Things here. What are they, tools? Picks? They... Interest me. And, if it be okay, maybe one of her small pouches? It's only right, I think, that our good pal's possession hold the fruit of our battles. He lowers his head and steps away, approaching the bar with one small pouch, placing something inside. He tries to wipe away his sadness with a weak smile as he sees Guffy's Glower of Power.
As is his learned custom, Hyde places a single SP on the bar and slides it toward the barkeep, following it with Arlandria's pouch, then steps back. I took a liking to tea, yeahh. The other is what I promised you. It knows who it died for. I had some help with another, but this one was all mine. He steps back and stands there, smiling, as if awaiting approval.

Eduard will take his share of her coins if they are being split, but when nobody is paying attention to him he will surreptitiously donate them to the church.

If you don't want others to know you donated it to a church, you should post that in your private forum.Zorroroaster wrote:Eduard will take his share of her coins if they are being split, but when nobody is paying attention to him he will surreptitiously donate them to the church.
