Korin "Keen eye me gnome friend." the dwarf goes to the indicated area and retrieves his axe.

Ox- Lets not wander off the trail this time. Let us get to our destination. He moves forward down the road.

Norbold Ernessaeia (Sylvanian Elf Cleric): Scale Mail AC 6 : Hit Points 6 / 6:

Norbold, still feeling a bit weak, from the snake bite, pretty much stays back from the snake area, on his horse and awaits as the axe is retrieved and they move onward.

Says to Ox, "Yes, this spot is giving me the willies, just thinking about snakes popping up, so let us move on."

Korin "Aye lets be gone from this place lads. Onwards to tha mound."

The friends move deeper into the valley, leaving the destroyed snakes behind them. As they trot along, there is no other sign of life except maybe some more wild horses rustling up dust miles behind them.
The landscape changes from dry to greener - and the trickle gradually becomes a bit more of a stream. Sure, one might be able to catch newts here, but it it is still far from being the 'real' river that young Timmy Oathead babbled so much about at the pub a few days ago*.

Phoenix gets off his pony and wanders over to look at the stream. He will look for signs of life within the flowing water. If his waterskin needs refilling he will do so, and will let the Shetland pony drink from it as well. Not knowing the rumours or why the companions seek this river he will wait for the others to come up with a plan.

Korin "Well, still got a long road ahead o us best water the horses an keep on moving towards roughly the area the lad spoke of gotta find them lizardmen an get the fella back they took."

Norbold moves his horse to the stream and Nervously giggles, saying, "Now all we need for some excitement is one of them weird water things to pop out of the stream."

The group stops to water the horses, plan progress etc. without any mishap. There is a pleasant afternoon breeze in the air, coming from the west.

Phoenix looks at the taller members of the company. "So we are searching for missing people kidnapped by lizardmen? Do you know where to go to find these lizard people?"

Korin "Supposedly a kid saw em in a place he was callin Minn's Mound. We know that area by a different name so thats where we be headin' afore, till them snakes tried ta eat us."

Ox- Step cautiously friends them lizards are like snakes they like the water.

The band of merry adventurers compare information and discuss what may possibly lie ahead, while taking in the scenery around them - all except Norbold who (perhaps understandably) continues to eye the stream cautiously.

Phoenix encourages his pony onwards. "Come then, lead on companions!"

Korin continues on to the location roughly where the child was calling it Minn's Mound.

Norbold, continues onward with the others, occasionally saying prayers to himself, while cautiously glancing towards the stream from time to time.

The brave adventurers continue to head up the valley, in upstream direction.

On which river bank are you all travelling ? The south (=the left one) or the north one (on the right hand side) ?

I say the North side of the river.
