It was pretty clear that Quirin was a goner, don't worry.

Sorry sull, I assumed Quirin was long gone but I probably should have asked first.
If Buryl can do so, he will push the rest of the not burned ghouls into the dying flames.

Absolutely. For as strong as they were, they are surprisingly light to lift, as though their conversion to undeath took away something of substance. The bodies burn easily.
Re: Expedition - Quirin/Dwarves III - 5 April, 1 VC
Abi sets the fire up out away from the door and the burning ghouls and says, "Someone should check Crivit's remains for those boots we found before we burn them with him." After setting up the fire, Abi goes to Quirin's remains to check for the staff they found with the boots and cloak.

Buryl didn't spot any boots on the feet. Crivit's robes were in tatters and his armor all but gone, just a couple of leather straps and bindings still clinging to his gray flesh.

Abi gets a fire set up away from the entrance to the tomb on the moorland, past where the horse was tethered to the party's gear. The party burns the ghoul bodies and brings the injured out to lay them on bedrolls for comfort. The fire flickers and has difficulty under the pelting rain, and Abi recognizes with some concern that Galen is unlikely to recover well under the open sky if the weather stays as forbidding as it is. Real shelter needs to be found before dark.

Once the wine is boiling, Krysta goes to the wounded and cleans their wounds with a clean (or the cleanest she can find) cloth, pouring in wine to hopefully kill any type of infection. If need be, she asks Buryl and Abi to hold them down while she cleans their wounds.
And then she asks the same of herself, gritting her teeth against the pain as she cleans the wound on her leg. Exhausted, she gulps some water...and then cries silently by the fire.
"Oh, Pelor...why have you forsaken me?"

The group tends to its wounds while the unconscious slumber on, free for now from the horrors with which the party is surrounded. Buryl keeps an alert ear, standing occasionally to peer through the falling rain toward the dying flames marking the entrance to the burned-out tomb, nervous about the arrival of more enemies.
Around two in the afternoon, the party is shaken from its rest by a low, anguished cry that seems to reverberate beneath their feet. They stand at alert for some new threat, but after an hour there is no sign and they settle back into their prior routine, a bit more on the edge than before. Finally, in mid-afternoon Bertram regains his wits, groaning feebly.

Bertram wakes pitiously weakened. He takes a few moments to survey the situation, before struggling to his feet. After wandering the camp silently, he finally asks what became of Quirin's body.
"A wise decision to burn him. The undead priest almost did me in.", its hard to imagine Quirin coming back as a ghoul, all Bertram can think of is their first meeting in the tavern, his first day and his first friend in Vaul.
He pokes through the ashes with his sword, remembering that Quirin once carried a magic ring from their first expedition. He probably had a few other treasures that would survive the fire as well.
"Krysta, you wouldn't happen to have a spell to heal Galen. With the combined efforts of two clerics, we could recover from our injuries all the quicker."

The only useful items recovered are the ruby ring, 18 cold coins, an onyx worth 25gp, an electrum piece, and two silvery coins with a dwarf's-head one one side and crossed hammers on the other. Quirin's long sword is usable but the scabbard is damaged too badly to be salvaged.

Ice cold coins, baby. The kind of cold you get when you take money off the corpse you just decapitated.Keehnelf wrote:April 13, 1 VC - 3:4"pm

Thanks for the care, Abi. Galen has the magic staff; do we want to brave the crypt again in hopes of finding the boots?

Abi says, "After losing 2 good men I vote we return to Vaul and resupply and, hopefully find more people before we brave that tomb again. There might be more ghouls, or worse, in there that we didn't find! Thats a big place in there and I have no spells that are good against undead. I would be useless."

Re: Expedition - Quirin/Dwarves III - 5 April, 1 VC
The conversation moves towards recovery of Crivit's gear. It's definitely worth a discussion.
"Aye, we lost two good men and we're in no shape to brave the dangers again in our condition. If we had a chance to rest up, perhaps. We have enough food to camp for a few days."
I'd say we rest up for a few days and get back to fighting condition. From there we can decide our next course, whether it be Vaul or the black tower. It does seem a bit of a waste to go all the way home and come all the way back, but a few more characters might make all the difference.
