Aslaan will stay in the rear of the line. As the group begins to move forward.

with everybody looking at him and expecting him to take point Stitches stands wide eyed and suddenly drops to the ground squinting and rolling holding his leg

AAAHWW my ankle, aaaw, my ankle, i twisted my ankle!
opens one eye to see if anybody is buying it (assuming not) he stands with a pissed look on his face and dusts himself off
performance: [1d20+5] = 17+5 = 22 deception: [1d20+5] = 5+5 = 10
ok, ok
he points at ioriston
but you better make a song of how brave i am, i know you bards are good at that

gets his bow ready and puts on a serious face

i'll sneak in and let you know whats going on, give me some space

Stitches will stealth in just up to where he can find the first sign of opposition with out taking unnecessary risks (unless there's a girl, alcohol or something to smoke involved) and come back to warn the group

stealth: [1d20+7] = 4+7 = 11

Cragmaw Hideout > Investigation

Bow in hand, Stitches creeps into the darkness of the cave, stopping for a few seconds to allow his eyes to adjust to the shadows. The stream trickles along muffling a lot of sound from within; while not more than a couple feet in depth, the water is very cold.
Just inside the cave mouth, a few uneven stone steps lead up to a small, dank chamber on the east side of the passage. Easing up the steps, Stitches finds that the cave narrows to a steep fissure at the far end, and is filled with the stench of animals. Savage snarls and the sounds of rattling chains greet his ears where three wolves are chained up just inside the opening. Each wolf's chain leads to an iron rod driven into the base of a stalagmite.

Back down the steps, Stitches looks on ahead and once his eyes adjust to the darkness, he can see that the main passage from the cave mouth climbs steeply upward, the stream plunging and splashing down its west side. In the shadows, a side passage leads west across the other side of the cavern.
And in the shadows of the ceiling to the north, Stitches can just make out the dim shape of a rickety bridge of wood and rope crossing over the passage ahead of him. Another passage looks to intersect this one...about 20 feet above the floor.

Unless he decides to go farther, Stitches returns outside to tell the rest of you what he saw.

Ioriston agrees. The dogs are making too much noise.

"Shall I put them to sleep or are we dispatching them?"

Stitches also tells the group he saw a goblin walking that bridge...probably a guard or something; he didn't look long, but he did see it up there.
(Forgot to add that in last time. )

re: the "dogs" (wolves) > they have begun to quiet down now that they can no longer see Stitches. Just FYI.

I think that we have to take out those wolves quickly, putting them to sleep is probably the best option. Then we can advance on and hopefully be able to surprise them.

Aslaan will be ready with his bow when we move in and will look for a place to us as cover to pick off some of the goblins.

stitches looks at the group with a surprised look
then turns to ioristor
i'm sure you can put us to sleep with you pep talks but i dont think the wolves will listen

even if you could speak wolf and put them to sleep with your talking, we'll need to finish them off, if we leave them and continue on, once we engage one of them could free them and close off the only exit we know

he shrugs his shoulders and puts on an innocent look

Ioriston goes about the task of putting the wolves to sleep.

"Once they're asleep, maybe you can cut them with your sharp wit, Half-a-Sluggard. Seems like an even fight... as long as they're asleep"

Ioriston concentrates on the task at hand:

Sleep Spell Affects: [5d8] = 17 HP

"Now pick off the rest, Thief! Or you can always train one... I'm sure wolves would make an appropriately sized steed for you."

So...you enter the cave and approach the wolves and then Ioriston casts Sleep upon them...correct?

Correct.

Savage snarls and the sounds of rattling chains greet your ears where three wolves are chained up just inside the opening. Each wolf's chain leads to an iron rod driven into the base of a stalagmite.

When the wolves see you, they begin to snarl and growl...and then Ioriston invokes his magic and puts one of the wolves to sleep, makes a second one groggy, but doesn't effect the third. The two wolves which are awake, lunge toward you, yanking at their chains.
(Ioriston > mark off your last spell slot)

Actions?
Also, during your short rest, I never received any confirmation of using Hit Dice for healing, so I'm assuming no one did that, right?

Current Stats:
Aslaan > down 3 hp
Kelton > down 4 hp
Stitches > down 3 hp

"Alas, they have become a liability."

I will keep my distance and point at the half-groggy wolf... Ray of Frost!!!

Ranged Spell Attack: [1d20+2] = 9+2 = 11 Damage: [1d8] = 6

If you are attacking (or doing something else), I need an initiative roll for each character. Already have one for Stitches...

Cragmaw Hideout > Wolves 1

Initiative Order > Aslaan (16), Ioriston (14), Stitches (11), Wolves (10)

Aslaan takes aim at the chained wolves and fires, drilling one in the chest! Amazingly, his arrow does not drop the beast.
Ioriston, knowing the wolves have become a liability, keeps his distance and invokes minor magic, firing a frosty bluish ray at one of the wolves...but he misses!
Stitches, bow in hand, aims and fires and strikes another wolf, injuring it severely...but not killing it.

The two wolves lunge again...and the bar holding them snaps loose...and they are free!

Snarling and slavering with anticipation, the wolves attack the nearest foe...one attacking Kelton and the other attacking Aslaan.
Nearest foe 1: [1d6-1] = 5-1 = 4
Nearest foe 2: [1d6-1] = 2-1 = 1

I assigned every character a # (in alphabetical order) and rolled the dice to determine who the wolves attacked. Thus, the following:
Aslaan #1, Baer #2, Ioriston #3, Kelton #4, Stitches #5.

The first wolf free leaps at Kelton, catching the warrior by surprise, latches onto the man's throat and rips out a large chunk of flesh! Kelton cries out, blood spurting from his torn throat, as he falls to the ground.
Wolf attack: [1d20+9] = 20+9 = 29, [2d4+2] = 5+2 = 7
Critical hit dmg: [2d4+2] = 7+2 = 9

The second wolf lunges at Aslaan, biting him in the neck as well, teeth tearing a deep wound. Aslaan grabs his throat and collapses, lapsing into unconsciousness.
Wolf attack: [1d20+9] = 7+9 = 16, [2d4+2] = 7+2 = 9

Actions!
I need Aslaan and Kelton to make a death saving throw!

Current stats:
Aslaan > down 12 hp
Kelton > down 20 hp
Stitches > down 3 hp

Wolves > 1 asleep; 2 severely wounded but still kicking ass!

Ioriston will try a second shot of Ray of Frost on the severely injured wolf.

Ranged Spell Attack: [1d20+2] = 17+2 = 19 Damage: [1d8] = 6
