OOC
Re: OOC
Yeah, they have no magical items but essentially the best standard equipment for their use--haven't had a chance to fill all of that out yet. As far as miscellaneous gear--the party will get their pick of it all and as much food as they like, with two pack horses to boot, once the magic items are all set.

Re: OOC
Perhaps some kind of roll to determine who gets to choose first?
If not, I guess Gideon will take the Plate mail +1

Re: OOC
Looking at that list again, there are really 12 items (weapons, armor, spells) with the broadest utility. The other 5 items are more situationally useful, so could be carried by anyone (or a henchman) to be used as the group needed.
That would mean we could either take 2 items each that fit our characters best (ie. No poky things for me, so I don't want swords or javelins) or we take 1 each and 1 for a henchman. The remaining 5 (figurine, token, potions) can be carried by whoever, unless there are objections or strong desires.
Does that sound reasonable?

Re: OOC
In character we'd know what type of swords we were looking at, and there would be an obvious best answer based upon that information. Out of character we have to muddle through somehow.Keehnelf wrote:I'd prefer if you hashed this out in character!
Re: OOC
Zorroroaster,
Two items each sounds good to me. I would take the studded armor and a sword, but the armor is such a great item in my mind that I don't think I should take a sword, too, unless everyone else who needs one has already taken one.
Items for Henchmen is a good idea. Here's the thing - the henchmen might try to use the items independently, and that's fine with me, but chances are they won't since the DM always has his hands full during a combat. But it takes no effort to tell your henchmen to use an item, so that's a nice advantage. You can use your whole round for your own thing (ie attacking) while the henchmen supports you with only a word needed on your part.
I like it.

Re: OOC
Looks like no one has grabbed the sword +1 so far, but I'll wait and see if someone else wants it before finalizing my decision on this. Maybe people don't need it since we already had a chance to grant +1 to a weapon during character creation.
If both swords do get claimed, I might go with the Cloak of Resistance - because that seems like a good fit for my character, too.

Ah, okay, revision. Looks like the secondary items I mentioned are taken, and I think they will be used wisely. I will therefore claim the Charisma Cloak. Very nice.

Re: OOC
See, when choosing our starting gear, I did that thing you did when you were a kid and your grandparents took you for lunch.
They said you could order anything you liked, so assuming I was being watched and judged, I always chose something good, but never the most expensive or best item on the menu.
I should have taken the plate armor... like all the rest of you greedy bastards! Hahaha!

Re: OOC
Is plate armor on the OSRIC list? If so...
Naw...I think Dell will hang onto the Banded Mail +1.
