Viktor heads down the rope behind Osric, being careful not to do so too rapidly.

Re: Down in a Hole
everyone descending make a strength check with -6 to the roll. Most f the way down is a slope to it gives you the ability to brace yourself.

Cilian shakes his head as the others start climbing down.

Re: Down in a Hole
Cilian studies Osric with a measured eye, trying to determine if the hefty cleric can pass through a 4x4 opening, because it doesn't sound like they can make it bigger if it is set in stone.

Scy "Alright Cil you can just stay up here and figure a way to keep going in this tunnel with the big sink hole to try and get over then." a bite of sarcasm in his words.

Re: Down in a Hole
No offense, but you're not the one with a 6 STR and 6 hit points. One fall from 50' and the party is minus one caster.

Re: Down in a Hole
Not like we have been presented with any other ways in. Unless one of us is carrying a long board I don't think we have many options at all.

Re: Down in a Hole
It's a challenge. Have to think it out (which hasn't at all been done, by the way). Brute force will only get us so far and, in my experience, that method usually ends in a TPK.GreyWolfVT wrote:Not like we have been presented with any other ways in. Every time we go up or down the rope, Cilian has a chance of falling and very easily dying, so yes, I'm perfectly willing to explore every option that doesn't involve climbing up and down ropes. Looks like we lucked out this time...
STR check [1d20-6] = 6-6 = 0
Cilian follows everyone else down the rope...

Re: Down in a Hole
FYI the strength check is required for the person bearing the weight. So for example when Cil is climbing up/down a rope he is supporting his body weight.....

Oh, I understand. And I know we could tie Cilian off and have him lowered down. But I hate having a character babied like that. And, still, it wouldn't take but a high roll (natural 20 would do it every time) for something really bad to happen; honestly, it could happen to any of us. It should be a real concern for the party.

Re: Down in a Hole
Viktor will offer to climb down below Cilian and also go behind him when they climb back out, so that way if he slips, he can try and catch his longtime, childhood friend!
Ability Check: Strength (need 16 or lower) [1d20] = 17
(-6 modifier makes it an adjusted 11)
OOC: I was under the impression that we were going to affix the rope via some daggers that we had driven into the tunnel floor or perhaps try and wedge something in the tunnel sideways, so that everyone could climb down and the rope would be there for us to climb back out. Was I mistaken here, Wolf?
