Once there, at the bottom of the cleft (about 30 feet down) is what appears to be a small mine shaft entrance. Looking it over Beryl thinks it may have been built as a ventilation shaft as it is only large enough to walk single file in, with the ceiling being about 6 feet high and the width about 4 feet. Less where supports have been placed. It appears that the cleft was intentionally cut out, then disguised with some planted conifers and earth but most of the earth and a couple of the trees have washed out in the past at some point and the mouth of the shaft will need to be cleaned out some to gain access.

Beryl oversees and contributes with the clearing of the tunnel. Lharzin stands watch as she recovers from her first attempt at questioning the stone here. The work is slower going then expected and there are a couple of mess ups that cause some minor collapses but after 4 hours the tunnel is clear and night is setting in and everyone except Lharzin are tired and hungry.

The tunnel is about 4 feet wide and 6 feet wide. Mostly stone but in a few sections you can see are earth. In the earth sections there are stone columns with arch support. They are approximately 6 inches by 6 inches so at that spot 3 foot wide by 5.5 feet tall. Spaced at the ends and every 6 to 10 feet depending on the size of the section. Sleeping would be fine, but it would obviously be single file.

Beryl after getting in and looking around you are pretty sure the original intent was a ventilation shaft of some sort, except that there doesn't seem to be any airflow. Which makes you think it might be an escape route/back door.

Lharzin looks around at the condition of the others to see if rest from exhaustion is merited.

She considers her pack.
