OOC Discussion
Re: OOC Discussion
Not dead here, but it's been a crazy several weeks preparing for ANOTHER beach trip. This one is to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary with a vow renewal.
When I get back, I will take the time to work up the Oni stats and get things moving.

Re: OOC Discussion
No worries, take your time. The start of semester is always rough here too.
Re: OOC Discussion
Now that we're on the verge of wrapping up the first scenario, do you folks have any thoughts on what direction you'd like to go?
I'd be happy to continue the monster/ghost hunting, either with the PCs being sort of independent wanderers or acting under the direction of an authority.
But you may have other ideas of where to go and what to do.

Re: OOC Discussion
Whatever you already have planned is best obviously, otherwise I'm happy to continue with the theme of hunting supernaturals.
Re: OOC Discussion
Sounds good to me!
Re: OOC Discussion
This was posted a month ago today. How are things looking?
Will it be easiest to archive this game for now, until you're ready?
Re: OOC Discussion
OK, time to move forward again...
Optionally, if you want, we could do East meets West and have you go through a time portal and wind up in Blackmarsh...
I have picked out a Samurai themed scenario though that does have a mystical bent.

Re: OOC Discussion
I'm happy to stick with what we have and do the samurai scenario.
Re: OOC Discussion
I'm not much for genre-switching - I'm excited to continue on.
Re: OOC Discussion
I added Theology as a skill at Cleric Level, Research at Magic User Level, and Layman's Magic at Passive Magic Level. This saves Bankei 6 skill points he had previously spent on Butso-do. That's enough for 2 2nd level skills or 1 3rd level skill. Of course if you bump up skills you have at 1st level, you get 1 or 2 more skill points, enough for 2 more 1st level skills, or you could just save the points.
Re: OOC Discussion
I think the akill he is lacking is related to the training and requirements of Asceticism. I could see it going one of two ways -
- Survival. More like a traditional skill, it covers abilities that eek a modicum of comfort from austere circumstances. Foraging edible plants (which could also be Herbalism), fire in the wilderness, makeshift shelters, etc.
- Fortitude. The ability to overcome the harshness of physical circumstances like being without any modicum of comfort in austere circumstances. Perhaps training that modifies rolls to overcome and act despite hunger, thirst, pain, cold, sleeping without shelter, etc.
...probably only one of them is needed, but I don't know which types of rolls you actually will call for in the game.
He is both an ascetic Monk who intentionally hardens and trains himself for such things, and also was a Eta, so grew up without most things as well.
Of the existing 1st level skills, I would raise Heraldry. As a high Eta, his gravetending included tombs/memorials of the city's wealthy and he has extensive knowledge of Mons and crests.
Or, if skill types are fungible, perhaps better martial arts/Judo or Bojutsu (defense first).

Re: OOC Discussion
OK, it sounds like we should add a skill for Asceticism. I may just call it such, let me think. Certainly there's overlap with Survival (what I'm going with for Blackmarsh Adventures) but there are other elements of it. I don't mind a certain amount of skill customization.
I also need to look through the Bushido skill list as that's what we have been using as a basis.

Re: OOC Discussion
Just checking on the status of this game as the last post was made on Mon Feb 06, 2023 5:29 pm which is over a month ago.
Is this game still going?

Re: OOC Discussion
That's a good question... We've had a lot of slowdown in the samurai/ninja games our little pack of three are in/running (with a few bonus players among the three games).dmw71 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 2:41 pm Just checking on the status of this game as the last post was made on Mon Feb 06, 2023 5:29 pm which is over a month ago.

Folks, how do you feel, do we all have enough energy to run and play in three different samurai/ninja games?
I was waiting for at least one more player response before we proceed in the new adventure.
Re: OOC Discussion
I'm still in. The Bushido game should restart (after the regrettable TPK) this weekend.
