The men with the Baron are conducting themselves quite professionally. The interior looks more secure than you would have thought from the outside. The Baron looks legit noble, but much more rustic, and more rough and ready, than the more established nobles Valerin has dealt with during his life. It is doubtful this man's nobility extends back more than a couple of generations.bruce.desertrat wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 10:29 pmBy habit of casing places, Valerin takes in the interior, (stairs, levels, thickness of doors, etc) he's seen better, he's certainly seen worse. Not all wealthy, powerful people give away the extent their wealth and power by their choice of dwelling.Eris wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 9:41 pm
The Baron, his son, a pair of bodyguards and the rest of you head inside the mansion. The interior is not especially impressive compared to some of the places y'all have seen in the past.
"I haven't seen any of you before." the Baron says, "Did you come in on the latest convoy?"
Does he look legit noble or just the guy with the biggest gang here? IE are his men conducting themselves more or less professionally?
"I came just recently to Antioch, M'lord. We arrived on the convoy only today. This place is certainly more...exciting than Ribble." he says dryly.
The Baron nods, "Yes, Hurst is certainly more, um, exciting than the coastal cities here. They have been safe from attacks for a couple of generations. We, up here in Hurst, haven't, although mostly it is bandit gangs and such rather than serious opposition from the monstrous races. You'll find them more to the north, now."
