Re: Character Creation
Don't mind if I do. Figuring out the interplay between skill points and foci can be confusing.
-With your background, you get your Free Skill (Lead-0) and either the quick skills or 3 rolls spread across growth and learning. It looks like you took your quick skills and 2 rolls spread across growth and learning
-If you decide to take the quick skills, remember to remove that +2 mental bonus you added
-You also get your hobby skill after you figure that all out
-As a Partial Warrior/Partial Expert Adventurer you should have 3 total foci, right now you just have 1 - Shoot is a Skill not a focus. This is a little confusing because it comes from Gunslinger but ends up in the Skills area above.
-1 focus can be whatever you want
-1 focus is a non-combat focus related to your background (Noble)
-1 focus that is a combat focus related to your background (Noble) - what kind of combat skills does a noble have anyway?
-You can double up on a focus if you want and get the level 2 benefit

Re: Character Creation
Looks good! You even forgot Sneak-0 from your Learning RollGorethirster wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 10:12 pm That gives me one choice of any skill, Connect 0, and Sneak 0.
Classwise I'll be going with a partial expert, partial warrior adventurer. That gives me my standard level 1 focus, one skill related focus tied to my background, and one combat focus related to my background. For my expert focus, I'll be taking Connected, to represent my character's knack for getting to know useful people. That also grants me Connect 0, which becomes Connect 1 since I already have Connect 0. As my general focus, I'll be taking Authority, as my character has a knack for not only getting to know people, but getting them to do him favors. That also gives me Lead 0. Finally, for my combat focus, I'll take Alert, because my character is a weasel who survived as much by getting out of dodge ahead of a fight as by fighting well. That also gives me Notice 0. For the Any Skill from my growth roll I'll take Shoot 0, since at some point since I left the homeworld I've learned the fine art of shooting a gun. Finally, for the skill selection everyone gets, I'll be taking Stab 0, since you don't grow up on a barbarian world and not know how to use a knife (or a battleaxe).
Skills
Connect 1
Lead 0
Notice 0
Shoot 0
Stab 0
Survive 0

Sounds good, we don't have a straight up warrior (I think)

Re: Character Creation
I think that's the only non-Adventurer also.
Re: Character Creation
Is that a problem, is the group a little lop-sided?

Re: Character Creation
Though it's pretty obvious, my concept is an ex-military mechanic who can mod the shit out of weapons and armour and then put them to good use. This also extends to starships if/when we get one, but she'll leave the piloting to someone more qualified. Planning to take Specialist: Fix at 2nd level and then waste far too much money on pimping the party's gear to obscene levels. If you want something dead or something upgraded, she's your girl. May also have an encyclopedic knowledge of every starship and arms manufacturer in the sector.

Re: Character Creation
Hi, guys!
I posted my character in the sheet topic, please give it a once over. Used the quick character creation tables to speed things up. My hp is the average of a 1d6 roll (3) plus two, but I can roll for it, if needed. Also, my equipment is the gunslinger package.

Re: Character Creation
Finally had some time to start Chargen. First stat roll had three under 9, so I re-rolled. For skills I rolled a 5 in Growth and a 1 and 5 on Learning. I applied those results to two different backgrounds that gave me Pilot. I'm thinking of Trade as the free choice skill.
Does the group have any preferences for which background?
Str: 14 (+1)
Dex: 17 (+1)
Con: 13
Int: 13
Wis: 12
Cha: 14 (+1)
Background: Pilot
Pilot 0, Connect, Connect, Pilot
giving Connect 1 and Pilot 1
Class Adventurer: Partial Expert/Psion
Focus: Sniper. Shoot 0
Biopscion: Psychic Succour 0
Edit:
( Was going to take Starfarer or Specialist to be a better Pilot, but the dice already maxed me out on that, so it was either Sniper or Alert.... )
Alternate:
Background -Vagabond:
Survival 0, Exert 0, Any Combat (Shoot) 0, Pilot 0

Re: Character Creation
Question: Are we making level 1 characters, or matching the existing party at Level 2?
Question: Also wondering about taking average or allowing re-rolls on hit points (rolling a 1 is tough).

That's a good question, I assume 1 level is not that big a difference.

Re: Character Creation
I'm working on my character concept:
Askor hails from a world that nuked itself out of TL3 into a mostly uninhabited atomic wasteland, with barely functioning agrarian communities, prayed upon by bandit gangs. TL3 weapons are not unheard of, but ammo is so scarce as to make them mostly ornamental. It's Fallout with less people.
As for Askor, he was orphaned at a young age and after wandering the wastes for a while, ended up at an archivist compound, where he learned to read. He left the world a few years ago with a group of disappointed scavengers, who came to his world looking for pretech, but found only ruins and radiation. From them, he learned how to handle a laser pistol and a compad, and how to get illicit jobs.

Hey Lance - Looks good. Just two adjustments -Lance wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 11:52 am Hi, guys!

-Go ahead and roll for HP...but see the second note below first because you'll just roll HP for Lvl 2
-Go ahead and level your character to Lvl 2. I've decided to just start the new guys there for consistency. Don't forget that increasing higher skill levels costs more: to increase a lvl 0 skill costs 2 pts, to add a new skill costs 1
-Also is the monoblade in your pack a sword or a knife?
-I owe you a homeworld and description.

I'll be giving you a homeworld...and will make it pretty close to this but may add some details based on what has been rolled up already. I'll PM it to you.Lance wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 1:03 pm I'm working on my character concept:

Re: Character Creation
I care less about your background and class than the others might but noticed you might be missing one non-psychic skill of your choice to reflect your hero's outside interests (step 9 in character generation). Disregard if it is in there somewhere. I owe you a homeworld but will wait until you get this nailed down.

Re: Character Creation
-Level 2 characters this time.
-We'll re-roll HP every level...so unfortunately you are stuck with it for now but at level 3 you're HP will jump!
-I owe you feedback on your PM's...We'll go with your initial idea but I may adjust it a little for the fiction.
