OOG: Game
OOG: Game
Let's keep Out Of Game comments in this topic.
By Out of Game I mean anything not referring to the game itself. If you want to make an Out of Character, but about something going on it the game, you can do it in the game threads, just preface your comments with OOC and use IG when you return to "in character" text.
I'll also be posting "What is Traveller", "Rules", "Character Development" and other background and administrative topics over the next day or two.

Up at the top right of the page you will see the Unseen Servant Dice Roller. You may go there and register and join this Campaign. When you register you can do so as a PC or GM, the only real difference is that a GM can create Campaigns.
The code to join In the Marches is 482.
I'm perfectly happy to do virtually all the rolling of dice, but if you want to roll for something I'd like you to use this Dice Roller app. You can't really set up a Character on the dice roller page as it is very D&D centric. It would be GREAT if there were multiple forms to pick from, but there aren't.
As a demo, I'm going to create an NPC named Hank Jenkins and make a roll for him...
Here's Hank's reaction to meeting you: [2d6] = 11
...I'd say you all impressed him!
Now I'm going to "roll on the fly", not using a pre-created character at all. It will be Hank's roll to land a starship. He has Pilot-2 and needs to roll 2d6+2 > 6 to succeed...
Landing the ship: [2d6+2] = 7+2 = 9 > 6
...success!
I can't get the dice app to do all 6 characteristic rolls at once, but I can split it into Physical and Mental as follows...
Str: [2d6] = 7
Dex: [2d6] = 9
End: [2d6] = 9
Int: [2d6] = 6
Edu: [2d6] = 10
Soc: [2d6] = 10
Okay, for this game, if y'all will trust me to make fair rolls I won't use the dice roller like this all the time. It's easier to just toss a couple of d6's and type the results in. I will use it some, though.

Testing Tables
This is a test table using BBCodes. It's a pain to enter all this manually, but I don't think any other way works on The Unseen Servant.
Now I'm going to try to put a google sheet into the post with the same information. Publish to the Web and Link (not Embed). Sharing gets you the whole Google Sheet interface, menus and all! That's not what I'm looking for.
Okay that worked, after a bit of fiddling with the width and height. The sheet in the post isn't editable, but it will update when the google sheet is updated.
Number | Task Level |
---|---|
2 | Automatic |
4 | Easy |
6 | Routine |
8 | Difficult |
10 | Formidable |
12 | Staggering |
14 | Hopeless |
16 | Impossible |

A question... With a 12/C Education.. what does that make me? ... Education wise...
Should i have some affiliation with an online University?

Well, you could, but you don't have to look at Education as years in school, or even degrees. I've run into many college graduates that aren't really all that educated, IMO.Justin3.14 wrote:A question... With a 12/C Education.. what does that make me? ... Education wise...

Instead, I look at EDU as the ability to learn from books and formal instruction, do research, diagnose problems, and general knowledge. So, to me, an EDU of C could mean you have a degree from some college/university, but what it really means is you can take data from any source and figure out what it means and pick up and use the knowledge others have amassed to solve problems you run into. EDU is a highly "left brain" attribute.
Intelligence, otoh, is intuition, perception, creativity, and coming up with novel solutions to problems. To me, INT is how well a PC can learn by doing, implement things by the seat of their pants, and they don't know why something works, but it does. INT is the "right brain" attribute.
How to y'all feel about these definitions?

Subscribing Forums and Topics
You can subscribe the entire forum and you can also subscribe individual topics. I know subscribing individual topics works, I'm not too sure about the entire forum.
As we move along I'll be introducing Timeline dates that will appear inside the thread title. As an example, (006) 1085/312-319 Jump to Ruie, [Thread 6 year=1085 days 312 through 319 Title=Jump To Ruie]. I probably won't do that with every thread, but when you pass a significant amount of time I'll want to note it this way.
As you explore new systems I will post a Topic for each system, forex [1910 Regina/Regina]. I'll put details about the system you've learned. Feel free to add your own posts in these threads with info you've gathered as well.

Regarding fabrics and clothing - are they advanced enough to repel dirt and water?
Joe Roberts (JR)
Re: OOG: Game
Some are, some are not. The grey coveralls will repel dirt and water, to a degree, but will still get dirty over time and need washing. They will get wet if you jump into the ocean with them, certainly, but will repel water spilled from a glass if you deal with it immediately.joertexas wrote:Regarding fabrics and clothing - are they advanced enough to repel dirt and water?
