Act VI The Tower of Devral
oops, forgot to start a new thread
As the group begins to investigate the tower a little closer, it appears to be made from a combination of ice and glass. It's sides are smooth and cold to the touch. The tower glows with a magical light and you can see other balls of colored light floating around inside the translucent walls.
The white wizard gets an idea in his head and rolls with it. He takes the glowing fish head rod and inserts it into the tiny hole in the tower wall. It slides in and seems to fit perfectly but........nothing happens. He turns the rod a quarter turn, like a key, and sure enough, a door in the wall appears, opening smoothly inward, revealing a strange, silent chamber beyond.
After the biting, damp cold outside, the room feels pleasantly warm. Standing in the open doorway you can now see that, deep within the translucent walls are patterns of light that pulsate and swirl. A staircase of shimmering crystal leads up to an opening in the translucent ceiling. Floating down through the opening is a sparkling silver sphere which stares at the group with a single golden eye as you begin to enter the tower.

Re: The Tower of Devral
The brave adventures gladly enter the warm tower room after Halo detects nothing of an evil nature emanating from inside. The floating silver orb blinks and begins to speak to you in common with a metallic voice as you approach it.
Welcome to the citadel of Devral.
Please hand you're cloaks to the servants and take a seat while I inform my mistress of your presence.
The sphere vanishes instantly and three unseen forms start tugging at your cloaks.
You also begin to notice chairs forming out of the walls, one for each of you, and at the correct heights for all sizes. A table then rises up from out of the floor. It holds a very nice crystal decanter filled with fine wine surrounded by 7 exquisite crystal goblets.

Trotter pulls his cloak closer. No thank you, he says to the air, I will keep mine for now. Old family tradition. He takes the seat which is for him.
Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Halo will let the servant take his cloak and sits down, Patsy and Edina at his side.
Greys Campaign.
Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Wyntar is interested to see what will happen next, but does not allow them to take his Robe of the Arch Magi.
Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Morgi allows his cloak to be removed. He takes a seat, and fills a goblet and smells the wine. "Might as well relax, we'd likely be dead if the Mistress wanted it so."
Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Xano- Pulls her cloak closer around her. Sorry but my cloak is my own and shall keep it. She looks over the chair carefully. If it looks safe she will sit.
Current Characters/Games
Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Mira is clearly astounded by all the beauty and majesty of the Crystal Tower; the tales told to her pale in comparison to the palace's actual grandeur. She is finally here, in the home of the Arch-Mage Devral! The awe and eagerness of the Shadow Mystic have not dulled her wits, however, and she pulls her cloak tightly around herself, regardless of the warmth. Thank you, but no, she politely protests. It is a gift from... A friend.
Her Grandmother could summon such invisible servants, Mira recalls, so she is not particularly surprised by their presence. With the grace of a guest (Regardless of the trials taken to arrive here), she accepts a seat near Morgi.

Logic dictates this, yes, She agrees, and gently sips the wine only once out of manners."Might as well relax, we'd likely be dead if the Mistress wanted it so."

Blodget, halfling thief:
The hobbit will keep his Elven cloak, "No thank you! Too kind of you! Really! I must insist!" he apologized to the invisible butlers.
When the magic table appeared without any food on it, his heart fell.

Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
The cloaks gathered are hung on pegs that form out of the tower walls. The party takes their seats, some sampling the fine wine while others enjoy their dry rations. The tower seems eerily quiet now that you've settled in.
Some time goes by and the tower remains quiet. Mira notices that there is something strange about the crystal stairway leading to the circular opening in the ceiling. She can't make out what it is exactly. It might just be the remnants of her last detection spell swirling around in her head but, something about it just seems off.
A bit more time passes and you begin to acclimate to your warmer surroundings. The tower remains silent.

Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Does... Does anyone else see that? Mira's eyes seem searingly fixed on the staircase, and her voice is hushed. I can't quite put my finger on it, but... Something is amiss!

Everyone else sees a beautiful crystal staircase.
More time passes.
Nothing happens.
The tower remains silent.

Blodget, halfling thief:
Bored and restless, the foolish young hobbit excuses himself from the table, pulls up his hood and breathlessly creeps up the crystal staircase.

Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Of course the always curious and mostly mischievous Blodget is the first one to investigate the stairway. He takes the first few steps up the crystal staircase, noticing a considerable drop in the rooms temperature as he does so. Then suddenly, everyone can see what caused Mira's trepidation.
The stairway instantly dissipates, sending the poor screaming hobbit plummeting 20 feet into a hidden pit below. His little arms and legs flail wildly as he falls, until he hits the icy layer covering the water at the bottom. He is battered badly 10 dam on the ice before it cracks open, sending the poor little guy into the frigid water trapped under the ice layer.
Even with his magic warming ring, the water is so cold it stings his skin and burns his tiny little lungs. 2 dam
The noise his screaming makes echoes through the no longer silent tower.
Actions?

Morgi responds quickly and activates his ring, lifting the hobbit from the icy waters.

Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Morgi uses his magic ring to extract the frightened halfling from the freezing water. Blodget begins to lift out of the frozen pit but the chubby little rascal is simply too heavy for the rings power and he falls back into the cold water screaming even louder now.
Good idea Nuke, but.....Blodget and all his gear soaking wet weigh a lot more than 50 pounds.

Blodget, halfling thief:
The foolish young hobbit yelps and splashes upon his second impact, this time swimming hard not to slip once more beneath the deadly ice! "Beggin' your pardon but... HALP!"

Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
Trotter gets someone to tie a rope around his waist. He will Feather Fall down and then use his strength to pull the hobbit out and climb out with help.
Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
While the Ranger readies his lifeline, Mira comes astride of her short broom, zipping across to see if there is any way she can help. If the pit is wide enough, she'll try to lower until she can reach Blodgett. Beware! She hisses, her beauty twisted with outrage, We are decieved!
Re: Act VI The Tower of Devral
The paladin leaps down activating his levitating boots and plucks the thief from the ice water.
Greys Campaign.
