7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Wow, I'll have to use the wrestling rules from the 2e PHB, this will be the first time since high-school. ROCKIN!!!
Each of you roll initiative, and then an attack roll each. I'm assuming you guys don't have armor on for this battle (in terms of AC).

Yes, Thorax is wearing clerical robes and has his hair (and beard) braided.
Initiative [1d10] = 9
Wrestle Vek [1d20] = 5
(He apparently also wishes to allow Vek the first move, and wants to draw him in by feigning ineptitude.)

Please tell me this is on display for all to see.ylinett wrote:Thorax considers the words of the Priest. "Very well. I offer thanks to Dumathoin and his Priests. Please spread the word of his worship in Waterdeep at the Tavemple.". With the words still in his ears Thorax returns and seeks out Ganon. Showing him the four gems he asks that they we appraised and sold. That is unless Ganon can find something more worthwhile Thorax might use as a trade. He imagines that they would be worth quite the large sum to the right party. As for the sword Thorax remembers his lucky strike with it and heading to find Vek offers a trade of his own. " I mastered the riddle of Dumathoin to retrieve this. Master the riddle of Clangeddin to earn it. Come Vek, wrest it from me and lose yourself in battle.". With that Thorax lays the sword down at his feet and assumes a traditional wrestling stance.

Glimble will watch the wrestling match with extreme interest "C'mon Thorax! Yah!" a little overly excited the gnome yells out whom he is rooting for.

Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Gannon gets the gems appraised by one of his "guys", he says that each gem could be worth around 5000 gold!
Ganon, where would you like to have met your "guy" at the tav ample?
Also, roll 1d20

Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
I assume this match occurs at the Tavemple one evening.
Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
The tav temple is a good spot to have my meeting. I will make sure the whole party is present and fully armed. You can't be two cautious when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Roseheart eyes the group with a smirk, "I've got 50 gold on Vek - any takers?"
Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Cormack raises his mug of ale and says to Roseheart, "Aye, I'll take yer bet. And yer money. Come on Thorax! Our pride is ridin' on this! Hah!"
Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Hey guys, I was pretty crazy today, teething baby and loads of work. I'll try to post late tonight or tomorrow, but it may wait until the weekend.
Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Things are still pretty crazy, I might have to wait until Monday for my next post

Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Round 1: "The Riddle of Clangeddin"
With the whole party watching, the two combatants being to walk an imaginary circle, peering eye to eye, but then charge each other! As they close Vek whips to the side smashing Thorax with an elbow smash. Thorax is able to deflect it with a quickly raised arm (4 damage) and then twists viciously and delivering a quick kick to Tantos's leg! Vek shifts his weight and the kick glances away, but the muscles will hurt later!
The fighters separate and circle about looking for another opportunity to engage!
Tantos - LV6 Fighter, THACO=15 (13), Str=18/72 +2/+3 (AC=10)
Thorax - LV5 Fighter, THACO=16 (14), Str=18/73 +2/+3 (AC=9)
Tantos: 57=>53
Thorax: 45=>41
No matter what the outcome, this is awesome! Thorax take 750xp for starting this, and everybody else 500xp. I'll leave the wagers up to the party to resolve.

Thorax switches to Dwarven and begins praising Clangeddin. One way or another Clangeddin would get his due.

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:
Vek grins wryly. He doesn't offer prayers to anyone. But out of respect for the dwarf, he will fight fair. It's been a while since he did. And it throws him off.
Initiative: [1d10] = 8, Wrestle: [1d20] = 7

Roseheart smiles at Cormack "Happy to take your gold, sir!... Vek - use the Shadowkeep Sleeper hold!"

Round 1: "The Riddle of Clangeddin"
The fighters circle once more as Thorax switches into dwarves, singing praises to Clangeddin. Vek is silent as he leaps forward to attack once more. Tantos leans in to grab Thorax, but the dwarf slips down Vek's body, gripping him in a leg lock! Vek, tumbles back and hurls the dwarf into the air, tossing him back to the edge of their fighting circle, breaking the hold almost instantly. Both fighters shrug off the hits and begin to come at each other once more!

Thorax - LV5 Fighter, THACO=16 (14), Str=18/73 +2/+3 (AC=9)
Tantos: 57=>53=>49
Thorax: 45=>41=>37
*I'll try to update the side threads in the next couple of days. We will have a couple of dead months after this fight where Thorax will make Glimble's armor, and Ganon has his ring commissioned. You guys also have a huge pile of gold to spend, so you can get other specialized equipment if you think of something you could use.*

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:
Vek smiles grimly at Roseheart's suggestion, and comes at Thorax again, still getting the hang of hand-to-hand combat, and to fighting fair.
Initiative: [1d10] = 1, Wrestle: [1d20] = 12
What was everyone's cut in gold pieces please, DM?
Did anyone want one or more of the magic beans that turn into giant spiders?

Wrestle Vek [1d20] = 5
Thorax knew Vek was strong, but he didn't realize he was quite this strong, slowly he was wearing him down. He was going to have to make a move before it was too late.
