OOC Thread
Welcome everybody, this is the OOC thread. The campaign ID number is 72. So far we have 5 PCs by my count. Good number to start with.
Re: OOC Thread
Just to clarify, are you using an OSRIC set (e.g. Labyrinth Lord) or the official B/X rulebooks?acererak wrote:Welcome everybody, this is the OOC thread. The campaign ID number is 72. So far we have 5 PCs by my count. Good number to start with.
Re: OOC Thread
I am going to use B/X assuming everyone has access to that rule set.

I've shared the PDFs of B/X, BECMI and Rules Cyclopedia with anyone that doesn't have access to them here:

OSRIC <> Labyrinth Lords
OSRIC is basically a clone of 1e while Labyrinth Lords is basically a clone of B/X.

Re: OOC Thread
My mistake. Substitute OGL for OSRIC. It, the Open Game License, is what is enabling all these clones to be produced. Thank you Wizards of the Coast!Alethan wrote: OSRIC <> Labyrinth Lords

As far as clerics are concerned, the more the merrier! Although, if memory serves, don't clerics in B/X need to wait until they're second level to get their first spell? That would be the only downside.

In LL, clerics DO get one spell at first level... one of the reasons why I like LL just a LITTLE better than B/X. I never did understand the reason for withholding spells at first level for the cleric.

Re: OOC Thread
I suppose the reasoning was that clerics already get a "special power" at first level -- Turn Undead. Magic-users, on the other hand, have nothing going for them but their spells.
Elves are the one true "multi-class" character in B/X, as reflected by their extreme experience point chart. Thus, they gain the full advantages of both class progressions.

Wow, nice stats. I'll be interested in seeing what you decide to play.saalaria wrote:So we begin again:

Re: OOC Thread
Why don't we all try and play clerics? Your comment about more the merrier made me laugh...and got me thinking!

A roving band of proselytisers - seeking converts everywhere. Fighting the good fight against evil wherever it festers...its got legs I tell ya!
As an aside - anyone ever played in a campaign of one class? I haven't but it could be interesting for a change (don't worry ace: not seriously suggesting it for yours!)
