Re: OOC I

I haven't used OSRIC before and I can't say I'm very impressed. Seems like 1e with half of the words removed; and at least a quarter of those words were somewhat helpful. It was originally intended as a way to allow people to legally publish 1E material and say "This is for 1E!" without s...

Re: OOC I

About this: His horse is a small riding horse, not trained for combat, so Theodlac must dismount to fight. With character and gear, the horse carries 295# which is just under its unencumbered weight allowance and its full movement is 24". Not that it makes a huge difference, but for sake of cl...

Re: Pregame Q&A

Pretty sure the Lucerne hammer is a polearm, and thus two handed. A mace, heavy and light, does the same damage as a hammer, so my guess would be that they would be one handed. Except for the Chinese "melon hammer", I've never seen a reference to a two handed mace. Maybe "great hamme...

Re: Part 1: What Just Happened?

Theodlac Those two didn't move like travelers on an opposite course, and if I were going to set up an ambush this would be a good spot for it. Watch off to the sides, especially when those two start calling out to us. Theodlac falls back a bit from Marsha and Robert and fans off up the left slope, ...

Re: Pregame Q&A

Rules questions regarding weapons: 1. OSRIC doesn't list weapon lengths, so I've used the 1e PH for those, OK? 2. OSRIC only lists "lance" and provides the same stats as the PH "heavy lance," along with a note about reducing damage (by an unspecified amount) if not using from a ...

Re: Pregame Q&A

With Casiphia's ostler background she could easily know anyone who spent time with horses. Even if they haven't known each other long, their common respect and appreciation for the animals would serve to hasten Casiphia and Theodlac becoming friends. Marsha is a young woman, tall and athletic. Her ...

Re: Pregame Q&A

I'd rather talk to dmw71 directly, and gloss over that as long as the pay is good and the person is worthy. That lets us get to the adventure quickly. Of course, if the mage is a slime ball and offering coppers, we can pass and the adventure is super simple! And over really quick. I have 6gp I can ...

We might try to hire a local guide, but before we do, I'd like to know what this magic-user is offering us to run his errand. (And whether he's someone we'd even want to help, for that matter!)

Re: Pregame Q&A

The group will have been hired on by a local magic-user. The magic-user carried his spellbooks in a backpack, and this pack was was ripped away from him by some winged creature. The creature flew off to the north, towards a hilly region. The magic-user tasked you with the challenge, because he can'...

I cannot imagine why MonkeyWrench has not welcomed you here yet! Actually I have a rather active imagination and came up with 8 scenarios in the time it took me to type that, but nevertheless, let me, in his stead, say, "Welcome to the Unseen Servant!!! We enjoy candle-lit dinners, long walks b...
