where are the children

#1 Post by wolfpack »

You ride into the small hamlet of Vene as you have dozens of times before, you expect the the villagers to greet you warmly as always, perhaps you will stay long enough to have some of mrs. moffits rabbit stew that you like so well.

Instead of a simple friendly wave form the nearest villager instead you see Jonas hurrying towards you as soon as you get close.

Master Sylhorn thank the gods you are here, we need your help. he says out of breath

Two nights ago the moffits twin girls disappeared. they all went to sleep that evening, the girls near the fire because we had a bit of a chill in the air. the next morning they were both just gone. the door was still barred from the inside, neither moffit heard anything to wake them in the night.

We looked everywhere for them yesterday but couldn't find hide nor hair. this morn brad Johnson made his way to the forest to check his trap line and returned swearing he heard a child crying, he said he searched around but couldn't find anything.

Sylhorn scratches the stubble of a beard starting to grow on his face "Alright alright I'll help find the kids. Let me see the house and maybe bring something that belonged to the kids Sarge might be able to follow their scent."

He takes you to the house, you have visted it before. a single stone dwelling with thatched roof.

he knocks and a man answers, it is the father, in the back you hear the mother crying.

Sylhorn has arrived he has agreed to help find the girls.

they immediately let you in, you are in a 2 room cottage, one room is the parents sleeping chamber the other is a main room. there are two straw beds near the fireplace were the girls slept. a wooden plank bars the door from the inside and there is a single window with a wooden shutter.

Sylhorn checks the shutter and the planks to see if they look to have been removed recently, as well as examines near the fireplace. "Yes certainly. I wouldn't leave you folks in this type of situation. I will put forth my best to find the girls. Do you have a blanket or anything that the girls used. I think Sarge might be able to get their scent and follow that." Sarge the loyal companion follows the half-elf into the home and sits watching until he hears his name then he comes over to the see what Sylhorn is doing cocking his head.

Sylhorn takes the bonnets and holds them down to Sarge "Sarge sniff get the scent." once the dog gets the scent he will say "Now find Sarge, track."

Sylhorn to Sarge "Alright boy, show me what you found track Sarge." he coaxes the dog near where his hackles were standing up earlier, trying to get the dog to lead him to what he was sensing.

The faithful hound hackles raised follows a trail, sniffing the ground as he goes he leads you outside the village into the nearby cornfield. 20 yards into the field he suddenly stops.

he walks in circles sniffing for a few minutes then just looks at you and whines

Sylhorn goes to Sarge and pats the dog "Good boy." then the half-elf starts looking for tracks or any sign of what was in this area.

you do find prints in the cornfield. they appear human size but something seems off, they are human size you would estimate some oen maybe 5'10" but the tracks lave the imprint of someone very very heavy, you would estimate 600 lbs at least.

also you follow the tracks to where sarge stopped and then they just disappear

Sylhorn scratches his head and keeps searching the area with Sarge using his nose as well hoping his horse Spitfire is alright back at the house. "Alright Sarge let's find where these prints went. Bark if you find anything."
