Character Creation

#1 Post by wolfpack »

Lets try something a little different

roll 3d6 12 times, take the highest 6 rolls place in any order. Every character must have at least two 15's. If you do not get 2 15's bump up your highest rolls to 15.

starting at 1st level, max HP. roll for starting gold.

races and classes from players handbook minus assassin. No evil alignments.

[3d6] = 10,[3d6] = 12,[3d6] = 9,[3d6] = 6,[3d6] = 14,[3d6] = 8

Looks like:
14, 12, 11, 11, 10, 10

After bumping:
15, 15, 11, 11, 10, 10
yep looks right roll gold max HP at 1st level races and classes form PHB minus assassin

Tavaris

[3d6] = 13,[3d6] = 12,[3d6] = 16,[3d6] = 11,[3d6] = 8,[3d6] = 10
[3d6] = 10,[3d6] = 9,[3d6] = 6,[3d6] = 12,[3d6] = 8,[3d6] = 11

gives 16, 13, 12, 12,11, 11
bump 16, 15, 12, 12, 11, 11

I'll figure out what Tavaris is this PM. :-)

With a wisdom of 15, a cleric gets two extra 1st level spells at level one, correct? I am reading the bonus as additive from the PHB.

Those bonus spells rock for Clerics.
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Stats: STR:10, INT:15, WIS:13, DEX:12, CON:8, CHR:11
Stats: STR:10, INT:15, WIS:14, DEX:9, CON:16, CHR:7
Stats: STR:13, INT:12, WIS:16, DEX:13, CON:4, CHR:10

Best: 16,16,15,15,14,13

Thinking just an average fighter.

The plan is that this is a one-shot right? do we get too involved in the background and equipment/etc?

I think there’s a ranger in there. For the 16 HPs :)

well this is a trail run, so it could go beyond a one shot if people like it. dont have to get to involved with background yet though

Agreed, I think mages should get similar for high intelligence. I know they shine bright at high levels but at low level mages can be rough.

How do you deal with multi-class Magic-Users? Are they limited to "no armor", "no metal", or "other class' limit"? I've seen them played all those ways.
Looking at elven T/M or F/T/M. Was considering throwing C into the mix, but we already have 2 of those. :-)

per 1e players handbook

f/m can wear metal armor only elf and 1/2 elf can be magic users, level limits per phb.

in the OOC thread I posted the table for what race can be what class and level limits

Thanks. I was reading under elves, not under multi-class. I remember when I just KNEW all the rules, but that was over 3 decades ago. :-)

Wolfpack did you have a specific set of deities for this? Or is any deity open?
