I'm gonna flank 'em be ready to cover me! Teddy tells the squad. Once they're ready to move he'll teleport to the cave entrance behind the enemy soldier, firing into his back with two blasts from his trench gun.

Dutch
Dutch follows the squad to the cave mouth. He stays a couple of steps back, keeping his weapon trained on the cave mouth (in case of surprises). He also checks the backtrail every few steps.

Fred, not wanting to be caught with his ass out alone, sticks with the others in the run to the cave.

SGT Acme

"To the cave!" Marvin barks out orders that have already been acted upon and he rushes to join the group at the entrance.

Late morning of 8 February, 1942; Mouth of a cave near the top of a cliff above Agloloma Bay, near 'Point Quinuan', one of 'The Points', South West Coast of the Bataan Peninsula on the island of Luzon, Philippines

With a sound like a whip-crack and the sudden smell of ozone assaulting the rest of the squad's nostrils, PFC Teddy Gomez 'popped' out of existence from his position and re-appeared at the entrance of the cave as the Marine Talent activated his Teleport Power*. In the blink of an eye he re-appeared right in front of the cave opening and cut loose a pair of blasts from his Shotgun, which echoed loudly in the cave, but hit no targets. He COULD hear several voices from somewhere deeper in the cave get louder and call out something in Japanese....

From his position at the head of the line, PFC Wade MacGyver quit concentrating on his Shield Power and he raced forward towards the cave opening, 'feeling' the Talent that was Teddy as he activated his Teleport power and seeing his fellow Marine suddenly appear at the mouth of the cave in front of him and cut loose a couple of shotgun blasts into the cave entrance. Wade's running came to a stop as he reached the edge of the cave entrance, noticing the corpse of the Japanese soldier who lay on the ground that SGT Acme had shot and MacGyver put his back to the wall and made sure his Thompson was ready to rock....

Right behind Wade, SGT Acme urged his unit of Marines (and a Sailor and a Gurkha Soldier) on and followed close behind Wade, 'smelling/feeling' Teddy activate his power and suddenly appear in front of the cave and cut loose a couple of blasts into the entrance. As they got to the cave mouth, Wade wise flattened himself against the wall just to the side of the entrance and Marvin could see the fallen Japanese solider he had drilled through the heart un-moving on the ground in front of the entrance.....

Gurung and Roker rushed right behind 'the Sarge', the former ready and eager to mix it up with the Japanese, the latter having wild thoughts of 'what the hell am I doing HERE?' rushing through his mind. Both felt/heard/smelled the now familiar feeling of Teddy utilizing his Teleport power to get to the front of the cave and could hear him blasting away. Both pulled up right behind Wade and Acme, seeing the steep drop off the cliff no more than 4 feet in front of them as they put their back to the cliff wall, taking deep breaths and getting ready for the next phase of the battle....

At the end of the line, big Corporal Charlie 'Dutch' Van Horn lumbered behind the group, his BAR at the hip and ready to provide suppressing fire if needed and as the squad took position at the cave entrance, Dutch suddenly felt the strangest feeling he had ever felt in his life sweep over him. It was almost as if he simultaneously fell into the warmest bath he could imagine and at the same time his hearing seemed to 'Telescope' to a narrow tunnel that shot out in front of him and the others, took a sharp right and raced forward into the cave entrance. There it traveled forward through the 10 foot wide or so chamber and back 10, then 20 feet and then took a sharp left. He could hear two...no three people talking in Japanese, heard the distinct sound of a magazine being slotted into a LMG and the action being worked to chamber a round......and then the sound of a grenade being pulled and armed.....

With a start, his Telescopic hearing raced back to himself and his hearing opened up back to 'normal' and Dutch saw his squad mates all looking at him as he realized that as they were all Talents already, they UNDOUBTEDLY had just 'felt' him utilize his Power.....

*OOC: I spent all 6 of Teddy's Will Power points to ensure that his Power activated.....he currently has 0 WPs.....so in the future, if he wants to activate his Teleport Power (which requires a 7 using his Will Power skill dice of just 1D)...that will be impossible, he'd have to spend a Luck Point to have a shot at it.

Everyone please remember (and take a look at the Rules Mechanics Thread) that your Powers aren't guaranteed to work when you want them too (other than the first time they manifest)....Minor Powers need a Will Power roll to beat a 5, Moderate Powers need a Will Power roll to beat a 7, Major Powers need a Will Power roll to beat a 10. You DO have Will Power points you can spend to add to the dice roll result (I used up all of Hadari's to add +6 to the roll) and/or you can spend a Luck Point to add +3D to the Will Power roll (everyone's Will Power skill right now is just 1D). This is a game of LIMITED powers that can fail to turn on when needed/desired.....just thought I'd let everyone know!

Dutch
Thirty feet back, in the cave! I hear three men, LMG, and grenades! Watch yourself, Ted! Dutch abandons noise discipline to warn his squaddie. He puts a hand to his ear. I could hear them!
Internally, he's a jumble of emotion and confusion. Half his internal dilalog is in German-Dutch, like his father and Grandfather spoke. I'm eine Kraft? How could Gott gib mir something like this? How do... in circles, again and again.

Maybe throw a grenade? he says, painfully aware he's already used his.

Wade takes the only grenade he has and readies to throw it into the cave signalling to the others to stay back as he pulls the pin and throws it into the cave.

Gurung

Gurung pulls up short of entering the cave as Dutch warns him and flattens himself against the hillside just outside the cave, waiting for Wades grenade to go off. Once it does he will spin so he is facing into the cave, kneel and use the wall as a brace to lay cover fire into the cave.

Not sure if I need to roll anything for this round or not.

SGT Acme

"You say that they're 30 ft back to the left? Three?" Marvin looks impressed and having seen other powers activate, has no doubt of the validity of the report.

"If that grenade comes our way, do you think you could shield us from it, MacGyver?

He squints into the dark cave, knowing that his group is bathed in light. "I don't like this one bit. We need to get out of the light. Everyone stay out of the entrance until the grenades go off."

Mac shrugs "Unsure but I will have to find out the hard way Sarge."

Dutch
Dutch nods. Heard 'em as clear as I hear you.
Dutch crouches, his back to the rock wall outside the cave. He closes his eyes and focuses on his hearing, trying to 'will' it to happen again.

Late morning of 8 February, 1942; Mouth of a cave near the top of a cliff above Agloloma Bay, near 'Point Quinuan', one of 'The Points', South West Coast of the Bataan Peninsula on the island of Luzon, Philippines

At the mouth of the cave, the 6 remaining Americans (well, 5 Americans and 1 Gurkha) split into two groups of 3...Wade MacGyver on one side of the save with 'Mediocre' Fred and Teddy Gomez behind him while across the mouth of the cave on the other side was a prone Gurung with his rifle pointed into the cave and SGT Acme right above him at the edge of the cave mouth and 'Dutch' Van Horn behind him. Wade squeezed the lever, pulled the pin and released the lever of the grenade in his hand, arming it and upon hearing Gurung start to cut loose with his rifle, he tossed the spherical explosive into the cave.....

Gurung dropped prone and worked the bolt action of his SMLE rifle quickly, sending three shots into the dark cave entrance...not really aiming at anything, but more to keep the Japanese in the cave hopefully pinned down. His strategy seemed to work as he heard angry voices calling out in Japanese upon his opening up. Out of the corner of his eye he saw MacGyber toss his grenade in and at about the same time, he saw a second spherical object bouncing TOWARDS him coming from deeper inside the cave. Realizing it was a Japanese grenade, he ducked his head down and tried to brace himself for the inevitable explosion. It came quickly and he heard/felt 'hail' all over his helmet and his ears were ringing as all sound seemed to be knocked out of him all at once....but he was okay*.....

SGT Acme saw the Gurkha drop to the ground in front of him and open up with his rifle to give Wade some cover fire as he tossed the 'nade in. He nodded his head in admiration of the intelligence and courage Gurung showed and he leaned around the corner to see if he could see anything. He saw Wade's toss was perfect....it bounced off the walls and rolled around the corner where Van Horn had told them he 'heard' the Japanese soldiers hiding....but he also saw that one of the Nips had tossed a grenade of their own towards THEM and a moment later, both grenades went off with deafening force. Marvin felt himself get blown backwards and he felt numerous pinpricks as shrapnel from the blast caught his left arm and side, but more worrisome was that he felt that sickening feeling in his stomach as he instinctively knew he was falling as the blast was taking him over the side of the cliff. He could see Big Charlie 'Dutch' Van Horn looking at him with concerns and reaching for him**....

Wade felt VERY good about his toss.....he was trying to angle the 'nade off the wall to richochet where he wanted it to go and he felt he did JUST that....then a moment later he saw the Japanese grenade go off and the next thing he knew the lower part of his right leg was on fire and was belly down, face over the edge of the cliff and starting to feel himself slipping over the edge***.....

Fred Roker and Teddy Gomez heard the double blasts of the two grenades going off at almost the same time and then looking down, they saw MacGyver on the ground, face first about to slip over the side of the cliff no more than 4 or 5 feet away from them as the bottom part of his leg was torn up and bleeding from a dozen shrapnel wounds****.....

Charlie 'Dutch' Van Horn tried to reach out with his new powers but this time, nothing happened. A moment later a pair of blasts went off and Sergeant Acme next to him was propelled backwards and over the side of the cliff's edge as the blast caught his arm and side. Every instinct in the Marine's body was to reach out and save his Squad Leader*****....

OOC: *Gurung's STR roll was RIDICULOUS....and the damage roll TERRIBLE....so he was only Grazed.....he'll be slightly disoriented for round or two, but he's fine....

**Acme is Wounded and currently is about to fall over the side of the Cliff. Van Horn has one round to attempt to catch him by making a Moderate STR roll (15 Difficulty.....that Luck point might be used here....just a thought....:) )....failing that, he can spend his Luck point to land on a 'ledge' a few feet below.

***Wade is in the same situation as Acme, except he has both Teddy and Fred to try and catch him.

*****Dutch's situation is as outlined above....he can attempt to catch Marvin Acme by making a Difficulty 15 STR roll

Gurung

Gurung, disoriented and reeling tries to regain his composure and make sure to continue his cover fire so if any Japanese survived they can't easily follow up the grenade attack.

Dutch
Dutch's rang and buzzed from the explosions as he threw himself flat, both hands grabbing for the Sarge's webgear.
[3d6] = 10+3 (including the luck point)

He remembered being 10, trying to catch Jamie Moffat when the little shiesskopff had fallen from the treehouse. Hold on, Jamie!

OOC: Hey Urson, when you spend a Luck Point you actually get +3D....so for Dutch's roll, you would roll 6D6+2 (3D+2 and + 3D for 6D+2)...I hope that helps!
