shaidar's PC Notes
Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
Is it possible to get arcology maps that integrate with his inertial locator and data display unit?
Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
Yes - either locally available or copied from your new Map Box (which is the Traveller "Universal Map Maguffin").
Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
Cool. We haven't quite brought the map box yet, is that right?
Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
Yes, its on order! However, the posh bits of the city proper and star town will have navigable mapping.
Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
I don't mind jumping forward a day or two, but I've been trying to think of useful things Frank could do during this time.
So, could Frank spend some of that time familiarising himself with the layout of the arc between the bartizan and the offices. Maps are great, but if they're offline or he needs to make a quick decision, find a hidey-hole if there was a problem, then there's nothing like memory. If you think it's not worth it then far enough.
Also, I'm still wondering about the pack of cards. Could Frank check out the ordinary pack of cards for anything odd that might relate to the special pack, particularly the special cards like the jokers that don't get used.

Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
Frank could certainly familiarise himself with a route between the two locations in that time and its various quirks / tactical options.
You decide the cards just are two different types of deck but now your familiarity with the special deck would allow you to spot other "enhanced" decks of the same type readily.

Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
A route is fine. Just in case he gets separated on a mission and he has to find his own way back, at least he'd have some idea of what direction to head.Tiglath wrote:Frank could certainly familiarise himself with a route between the two locations in that time and its various quirks / tactical options.
Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
Frank can now "escape and evade" (via one route! ) but it's a start - the arcology interior is a maze and ever more so as you get lower down.
Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
So, I've been doing a bit of casual 'traveller' reading around on the interwebs, which can sometimes be a little confusing since there are different versions. Some say the Gauss pistol has a burst (4) ability, but I guess this isn't the version we're using?
Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
Points for homework done! There are two versions (I believe by "canonical accident") rather than design but they fixed it with: the Army version is a standard "auto pistol" but a gauss weapon (silent, better Penetration than the "slug" weapon) while the Navy version has a full auto option and also an extended magazine ...
Alas, your GM is cheap and gives you rubbish toys!

Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
Not at all, it's still superior to an ordinary pistol. We have to have some nice toys to look forward too.
Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
Can you get surpressors for machine pistols? If so many gut it be possible to modify the holsters to take the guns with them attached?
Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
Yes to suppressors.
Yes to modifying the holsters
However it might make the weapons a bit unwieldy to draw but this isn't a huge disadvantage.

Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
Cool. Frank will draw the cost of the surpressors from his future pay, standard prices?
Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
I've noted the money I owe on my equipment post:

Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
So the RAM grenade launchers are fitted to rifles, including Gauss rifles?
What skill is needed to use them?

Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
Yes, they fit under the barrel and are a three shot pump action grenade launcher. They will fit under the barrel of most military issue rifles (e.g. gauss, ACR).
You need Heavy Weapons (Grenade Launcher) or "wing it" at skill 0
Dex 10+ gives +1 To Hit

Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
Ok, so here is my kit list for the fort recon. Let me know if you think I am over-doing it (or even under-doing it). I calculate the encumbrance to be 9.7 kg:
Code: Select all
TL 14 Tailored Vacc Suit
hard helmet
Data Display/Recorder
radiation detector
inertial locator 0.5
TL 12 combat armour breast plate
personal comms 0.3
cutlass 1.25
IR goggles
low light goggles
gauss pistol (w/shoulder holster) 0.65
laser sight
Ammo (15) x4 0.8
gauss rifle 3.5
Gauss Ammo(40) x8 3.2
combat drug x1
stim drug x1
9.7
Re: PRIVATE: shaidar's PC Notes
I need to update my kit to take into account the grenade launcher, grenade mag and hand grenade. Could you confirm their encumbrance, thanks
