The book says this:
The character can read and write a different language for every level of Linguistics they possess. All characters can speak and read their native language without needing the Linguistics skill, and automated computer translator programs mean that the Linguistics skill are not always needed on other worlds. Having Linguistics-0
implies that the character has a smattering of simple phrases in many languages.
I've allowed folk with background that matches to instead claim Linguistics-0 as focussed only on one language thereby giving them basic functionality only in that chosen language.
As per the above you can always use a translator on any personal device but it will be obvious that you are doing so.

Yes Galanglic / Galactic Anglic.
Swordies have their own language as do Vargr (Gvegh) and Aslan (Trokh).
Imperials find being able to speak "foreign" is as suspicious as their personal level of xenophobia.

No nothing unusual. Actually they're not an official/canon unit in the setting.
Probably worth noting your armour value next to your armour on your gear list.

There is a short one year security ticket for a mid tech battalion sized merc unit for the protection of the downport and scout base at Tarkine (Hex 1434) (OOC: J4 up from Collace).
SuSAG Corporation are still hiring nightwatchmen/security guards at minimum wage to protect their facilities from graffiti and vandalism.
A chance for glory with Collace Ground Forces! Fully trained ex soldiers wanted to act as infantry led by Collace Officer patriots in any possible forthcoming hostilities.
Ex Marine Infantry, Recon and EW specialists fully trained in Battledress and High Energy Weapons to contact Duran at 4DC Mercs.
Throw off the yoke of Imperial backed aggression! Join Trexalon Military in the defence of our rightful territories. Fully trained ex soldiers wanted as Infantry. Fully trained ex Sword Worlds military wanted as Officers.

So my plan for the Cats Protection gig is to wear the tailored armour and bring the pistol (laser sight and silencer) and 5x mags of ammo, and the shotgun (laser sight) and 3 mags of ammo.
This falls under the 10kg encumbrance, but I just wanted to check that he's not going to stick out like a sore thumb with all that ammo.
I finally got the 4DG thing last night in the shower

No it won't show out and unencumbered you won't draw attention. You'll need long coat or somesuch to cover the shotgun which you can rig to suspend from your other shoulder.

Assume you have a long coat (otherwise the folding stock shotgun was a waste!)
You won't need a face mask for tainrted atmosphere because you are within the sealed high tech (TL 13) arcology.

ok, the silencer for the pistol, is it already fitted, or would that stop it fitting into the holster and so needs to be fitted once drawn?
