CHAPTER 10b: R&R at Hagalton III
Re: CHAPTER 10b: R&R at Hagalton III
Silvestri
"Careful, the rods are giving off heat, I'm not sure how much"
Silvestri doesn't have a high agility, I think it's the worst of the group

Re: CHAPTER 10b: R&R at Hagalton III
Kurot's positronic matrix finally files all the new information away under a folder marked "Analyze Later," freeing his system resources for speech once again. He looks for a way to make himself useful.
Kurot is fast, but not agile (he's down there with Silvestri as having the lowest agility of the bunch). But he gets three actions per round and is reasonably strong, so if there's any brute force work that needs to be done really fast, Kurot's your guy android.

Farmanus
Farmanus grabs a pole. "This could be fun," he says uncertainly.
OoC: His Agility is 16. He will attempt to use the pole. Do I need to make a roll?

Re: CHAPTER 10b: R&R at Hagalton III
Kurot also takes a hook. He's not terribly good at using it, but what he lacks in skill, he makes up for in speed.

Hagalton and Area, 319D/81
Denslow makes his way to camp outside of town. There, during the last hours of sunlight, he settles into a spot and anchors his feet roots in the ground. Their tips drill deep into the soil and seek any moisture and nutrients available in this arid environment. He angles his leaves to collect the rays of the sun until it sets below the horizon. (This is his glowburn healing procedure)

Yar’s Trawler, the Crack in the Earth, 319D/81
The tubular objects have leveled out and are rising at the same pace. They will pass the plane of the trawler at the same time (round). The fishers (pole hook wielders) will have one round to snag their quarry. As the tubes come closer, you are able to see their details. They are 6ft long, 6in diameter reddish worms with mouths at each end. The mouths are ringed with double rows of needle-like teeth.
OOC: The difficulty of catching a tube is determined randomly.
Kurot, roll Agility or below on 1d30. He may try three times.
Farmanus, roll Agility or below on 1d16. Since his Agility is 16, he automatically snags a tube.
“Once you hook a worm,” Yar offers, his eyes returned to normal. “Pull it on deck and cut each mouth off!” The mechanic collects his weird tools and moves them off the deck to make room for landing the tubes.
"We got lucky," he adds. "Nothing joined them through the vortex!"
OOC: Kurot and Farmanus have sufficient strength to pull the creatures onto the deck.
Those not wielding the pole hooks may do the cutting. Roll damage using cutting weapon of choice.

Kurot snags a worm in one try. “It does seem to be easier than I had estimated," he allows.
Agility check (11): [1d30] = 6
Are there more worms to try to snag, or just the two this round?

Bruce wrestles with Kurot's quarry, kneeling on it's "neck" to hold it in place while chopping it's mouth off with a hand axe. Axe [1d6+2] = 6+2 = 8.
Quickly moving to Farmanus' quarry, he repeats the procedure. Axe [1d6+2] = 5+2 = 7

Yar’s Trawler, the Crack in the Earth, 319D/81
Kurot snags the crimson worm and pulls it onto the deck. Bruce leaps to action and chops off both mouths with his axe! (I assume he wants to cut off both mouths and not one on each) The segmented body writhes around, leaking dark black blood over the deck planks and splashing against your legs and feet. (This worm is vanquished)
Farmanus and MacMak follow Kurot’s success and hook targets. Farmanus holds his catch firm, waiting for a spot to land the quarry. MacMak lances a worm’s body and holds it until an area is available on the deck. The mutant seagull has difficulty maintaining his catch (STR = 8) and struggles to pull the impaled worm. Yar sees MacMak struggle and rushes over to assist the manimal! (+1 to Strength roll)
OOC: MacMak must make a Strength roll. Beat a DC 12 on 1d20 to maintain his grip!
Famanus reels his catch onto the deck and motions for someone to dispatch the mouths.
OOC: Silvestri may take an action this round. His strength isn’t high enough to provide a bonus for MacMak’s struggle.
All others post your actions for the next round.

Kurot drops the hook and reaches for his axe to start chopping worms.
Axe: [1d20+3] = 14+3 = 17 [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2
Oops—that's the old macro for the hand axe. Here's a damage roll for the battle axe:
Damage correction: [1d8+1] = 7+1 = 8
These rolls use the corrected macro:

Yar’s Trawler, the Crack in the Earth, 319D/81
Silvestri uses his dagger to slice (4pt. dmg) one of the mouths on Farmanus’ catch. The worm’s hide withstands his first cut, so the psionist hacks again (4pt. dmg) and separates the toothed orifice from the creature’s body. The worm writhes and challenges Farmanus’ grip, but the uberstrain human holds firm.
Kurot drops his pole, hooked into the dead worm, and springs forth to dispatch (8pt. dmg) the second mouth from Farmanus’ worm. It bleeds out and dies. The android notices MacMak struggling as he lands his quarry. With two quick hacks (9pt & 7 pt dmg), the Mark VII construct slays the final worm and adds more black blood to the trawlers deck. The other three red worms rise above your floating contraption and disappear into the maelstrom.
Pleased at your performance, Yar draws a serrated knife from his overalls and slices open the belly of one worm. He reaches in and removes a 3” diameter ball of mucus. He scrapes the organic slime with his blade until a 2” green polybone puck is uncovered. The mechanic turns the object with his hand, shakes it and sniffs it.
“Looks like a good cell!” he exclaims. “Your first payment for my services.” Yar proceeds to cut open the other two and retrieves two more power cells. He motions you for help and tosses the carcasses overboard. The eccentric assembles the pyramidal frame once more and the purple lightning returns along with the vortex below. Five worms appear and begin to rise.
“Fish me some more prizes, hookers!” Yar yells, clapping his hands together.
Kurot, roll your Agility or below on 1d20. He may try three times. If the first one succeeds, he may try to snag one additional worm.
Farmanus, roll your Agility or below on 1d24.
MacMak, roll your Agility or below on 1d24.
All others may roll damage to cut the mouths off any landed worm.
