I only have to be with in one mile right. I will just tell him to follow along and stay out of combat. I will leave him outside with Sarin walking around on the ground.

I am talking more in general not just this particular episode. if the familiar is with you all the time i have to account for it when encounters happen

right just like an animal companion i understand. Cat would probably be smart enough to stay out of harm's way though I'd imagine.

Just let it follow along, as long as it doesn't get in front of us and set a trap or something off it should be fine.

when firing into melee the chance the missile hits the larger creature is greater, however not 100%

with 2 people fighting it on 1d6 1-4 targets the creature 5 would target maxim, 6 would target hildr

2 hander does 1d10 vs small and medium and 3d6 vs large. Aren't the Manes Large size?

manes are small 3-4' tall

My bad. I havent played much Planescape so assumes all Demons were large.

I have never played Planscape either, but all the demons he is using are from the original MM.
