[002] The Fort
[002] The Fort
What time of day do you want to approach the fort? You landed in the bushes as evening was approaching, you maybe have an hour or so more of decent daylight. Unfortunately scaring off the hyenas may have made enough noise to alert the occupants of the fort.

When it gets darker Greenleaf will come from the sunset side and move quietly. Spotting hidden to see if any guards out. The sunset should make him harder to see.

Wulgar the big man tries to be quiet now..."Best not have me do the scouting if it requires stealth."

Re: [002] The Fort
Are there are parts of the fort that go up against the riverbank, or maybe an inlet from the river?
Mudbill removes his armor and grabs his spear and dagger. "I am no good waddling on land, but in the water I can sneak ever so quietly. Quack."
He dives into the water and scouts ahead along the river bank (or up the inlet if there is one), looking for guards, scouts and possible ambushes. He'll scout just for half an hour so that he can return right when it gets dark.

Re: [002] The Fort
The fort is uphill from the river, with clear ground between the river and the fort. You are currently hiding in the bushes by the river.

Wulgar follows Drest trying to stay in cover as best as he can.

Re: [002] The Fort
It is about 50 feet from the nearest bushes to the wall of the fort. Perhaps 60 feet from the nearest bushes to the gate.Rex wrote:Drest

BTW, normal movement for humans is 80' per round, I have been running 1/2 that for indoor or combat on broken ground - this would qualify as broken ground.

In that case, he'll swim about 10 minutes upriver, scout inland 10 minutes, then swim back.ffilz wrote:The fort is uphill from the river, with clear ground between the river and the fort. You are currently hiding in the bushes by the river.

Re: [002] The Fort
Wulgar stops when Drest stops and crouches down watching secretly hoping for a guard or something so he can fight something.

Re: [002] The Fort
Sorry this is running so slow... My life seems to have gotten a lot more hectic lately.
The gate is facing a track that runs through a ford in the river. There is a long two story building roughly parallel to the river and a 3 story tower on the other side of the gate. You spot 2 trollkin on the battlement at the top of the tower. There is some sign that the long wall of the fort away from the river may be damaged (you would have to scout a bit farther from the river than you have yet gone to get a better view of that wall
The fort is roughly 20 meters by 16 meters.

Re: [002] The Fort
Greenleaf tries to see if the 2 trollkin are isolated from each other. If he can eliminate 1 without the other seeing it he will take the shot.
He only will take the shot if it is clear.
Attack Roll [1d100] = 62 Location [1d20] = 19 Damage [1d8+1] = 3+1 = 4

Re: [002] The Fort
Wulgar having only an axe watches the others and wonders if they are going to move in closer... "Trollkin hmm are just going to stay back and fight or are we going to move in where I can do something?" he whispers to the others nearby.

Re: [002] The Fort
The two trollkin at the top of the tower are definitely not isolated from each other, the tower is approximately 4 meter square (outside, so somewhat smaller inside).
Attack roll is 1d100 <= skill. The 18 meter range from the nearest bushes to the tower (well, maybe 25 meter considering elevation) is well within the effective range of all missile weapons so no range penalty. The fact that they are behind cover means that if the hit location is protected (legs, or abdomen), you will hit the battlements instead unless you have a critical hit.
