"I suggest pushing forward," says Kurot. "Nothing interesting will be unguarded, and at least we know what our enemies are in this direction."

Posting mostly so this comes up in the "View your posts" screen.

Bruce nods his assent with Kurot and indicates they should continue onward.

"Hey
The old ones speak of winter
The young ones praise the sun
And time just slips away

Oh
Running into nowhere
Turning like a wheel
And a year becomes a day

Whenever we dream, that's when we fly
So here is a dream for just you and I

We'll find the Sacred Heart
Somewhere bleeding in the night
Look for the light
And find the Sacred Heart"

Belial
Belial has been quiet during this discussion, grooming the fur on his chest. Like, whatever, mi compadres. Just don't leave me alone.
He grins.

Tunnel Complex, 298D/81 (Afternoon)

MacMak climbs over the log wall and descends to the tunnel floor on the opposite side. He looks around for anything the beast-men might have dropped, carefully avoiding the green goo. The 30ft high x 20ft wide oval passage is devoid of any debris or objects. The mutant seagull clambers back over the wall to report his findings.

It takes you just over an hour to clear the fungal logs out of the way to make enough room for the platform vehicle to pass through. No sounds or activity, beyond the noise of your clearing operation, is seen nor heard. The residue from the slime bomb has dissipated, so you are clear to travel forward.

After 80ft of travel, Silvestri slows the vehicle and you approach a side tunnel constructed like those at a station stop. A crude wooden steps, of sorts, leads from the bottom of the main tunnel to the base of the side tunnel. The psionist uses the trolley to push, move and collapse the stairway, allowing the rail vehicle to slide forward. He cautiously moves into a position that allows an exit from the cargo platform and over the metal cabinets. From his position on the exposed deck, Belial can smell the scent of the gray hulks emanating from the tunnel. One can only conclude the underdwellers passed through here. The 10ft diameter artificial stone tunnel curves to the right and opens into a larger area just under 40ft ahead.

In the rail tunnel, the platform’s lights flood the passage 100ft ahead of the vehicle. You can see a turntable at the extents of illumination.

I still smell those Molokai dudes. I don't think they're here, but we need to watch out for 'em, yeah?

Tunnel Complex, 298D/81 (Afternoon)

Warily, Silvestri eases the rail trolley forward to the turntable. As you approach the mechanism, it automatically rotates and aligns with your travel direction. You continue to be amazed by the ancient machinery that functions with unseen forces.

Slowly and cautiously, the vehicle slides onto the turntable. The smell of beastmen is overwhelming and those with olfactory senses can detect their foul scent. From positions near the side railings, several notice the floor of the turntable chamber is littered with bed mats, debris and bones of various animals; even some humanoid skulls!

Suddenly, screams and baying echo from the left tunnel. A barrage of spears and javelins assail you from this passage. Luckily, the position of the vehicle affords you cover from the missile weapons. The side of the platform with the control cab and storage cabinets faces the direction of attack. (Red arrows on map and reference image below)

OOC: The first spear missed. You were cautiously prepared, so I judged you were able to duck and/or drop behind full cover and avoid the other missiles

The bright illumination of the turntable chamber prevents visibility beyond 30ft to the left or right. The vehicle’s lights shine forward and back with only dim marker beacons on the sides. The howls continue to echo out of the darkness to the left!

Denslow throws a fruit in the direction of the attackers and says, Can this machine take us backwards? Re-tree-t!

Denslow "have an apple" fruit attack [1d20+2] = 1+2 = 3, dmg [1d4] = 2
Thank goodness that wasn't an exploding apple!

Fumble [1d4] = 3
"Your weapon comes loose in your hand. You quickly grab it, but your grip is disrupted. You take a -2 penalty on your next attack roll."

Apparently, I need to roll on the mutation chart! Yikes!

Denslow Mutation Defects Roll [1d100] = 50
Ipsilateral Body Plan
Ipsilateral Body Plan [1d20] = 2
The mutant has one leg and one arm where the other should be, i.e. the mutant must walk on a leg and an arm, and use tools with the other leg and arm attached at the shoulders; -4 Agility, -2 Strength.

Well, that didn't go so well. Can I just take the fumble? ;)

Denslow feels seriously unrooted.

"We are at a disadvantage in this location," says Kurot, masterfully stating the obvious. "I suggest we drive this...thing...a few feet forward, out of the intersection. Our attackers will have to come to us instead of firing from the dark," he suggests.

Belial
Great, dudes! The Molochians are back! Belial hunkers behind the cabinets as best he can, and readies his crossbow. IF he sees a target, he'll shoot.

Tunnel Complex, 298D/81 (Afternoon)

Another barrage of missile weapons strike the side of the rail sled and sail over the deck, where several of you take cover to avoid the spears and javelins. Denslow fumbles attempting to toss a fruit bullet and falls on his side.

OOC: -2 on attack rolls next round

MacMak activates his pyro-power and his hands burst into flame. He waits for a target to come within range, but none expose themselves. He lets the power subside and remains behind cover.

OOC: There are no targets within the 10ft range available at 1st level

Belial hunkers down to block the hostile’s line of sight. He loads his crossbow and prepares to target any beast-men that expose themselves.

Kurot offers a practical solution to the impasse; move the vehicle off the turntable.

Silvestri

"I can't move forward without moving the turntable, which will take time. I'll back up and force them to expose themselves in our lights if they continue to attack"

He reverses the contraption a couple of metres back into the tunnel.

Tunnel Complex, 298D/81 (Afternoon)

MacMak springs to action and leaps off the deck of the rail sled and into the turntable chamber. He spies a large, rectangular wicker tray on the floor and retrieves it after dodging a javelin (Miss) thrown from the lone hulk occupying the chamber. The beast-man howls with rage and barks rapidly!

Using the tray as a body shield, the mutant seagull charges into the dark left tunnel, towards the source of the initial missile volley! The yellow manimal makes the most of his avian vocal organ and lets forth a shrieking battle cry!

OOC: The tray affords MacMak a +2 AC bonus, but he must use both hands to hold it and cannot attack while using the ‘shield’
