Is it too late to ask for plate mail to be delivered to the store room?

A backpack of some sort to put these twin War God tomes in, with an extra-planar holding quality if available a normal pack is offered. no holding bags.
Gloves and/or boots that are enchanted in some way to provide for faster and more precise movement keep dreamin level 1 noob.
Any enchanted accessories that might yield protective auras (i.e. rings +5 or better  etc.) no.
Any available wands that can be activated by divine magic usersfresh out.
...and, of course, potions, potions, potions No wands.. they offer healing potions..one each.

Arjiri takes a healing potion, makes sure the stopper is set and container is sturdy enough, then sticks it into a belt pouch. Not seeing any better or masterwork flails or slings, she moves on to the armor and happily chooses a chain mail that she thinks will have some flexibility of movement and also still allow her melons to pop. Finally, she finishes with a sturdy pack and puts the books inside, along with the torch and flint n' steel from her belt. [ooc:all ok?]

Trarth looks around at the armor, thinks that it's too hindering for a true warrior and shakes his head a bit. After a moment he turns to Fonklin and asks,"Could we get some various size shields and some shuriken throwing spikes? I'll pay fer mine if you like."

Fonklin looks to the dwarf shelf administrator and snaps his fingers. Within minutes, seven dwarves arrive back at the counter with differing shields of various sizes, and a small pouch of 12 throwing shurikens.

Evan speaks, finally.
"What do we have that the guards did not? Our constitution could be no more than the fallen's. Our weapons, no different. But knowledge shall be our strength. Perhaps we can engage the three fiends in singular form. What is our next step?"
Evan doesn't take anything except one of the potions and a smaller shield, but as he walks around the room with it, he puts the shield back, because it is too awkward for him to fight and/or perform with.
Just before giving up on the inventory, he tops off his quiver with additional arrows.

Trarth smiles broadly at the shuriken, saying "Any of you use these?" as he scoops them all up.

To Evan, he says, "Well, I was thinking about them thieves coming to us. Sounds like they might not be able to confirm what they have, and we can get imitation disks in a few days, and meanwhile, while we ask around about them, spread a rumor that we stole the real disks before the others got here and killed everyone. . . Maybe even a song of our deeds while we brashly wander about, letting on that we have the real disks in the warehouse, oh, and we wear the pirate outfits too."

Fonklin looks at you sideways, almost confused. He puffs his chest out as you ask your question, and seems a bit....almost...offended.

"Those badges is all you need for authority to recognize. You are agents of the Ambassador from The Darksteel Citadel, clan Darksteel. and agents of the Engineering guildhall, owned by sovereign power. It is not a license to kill per se, but no one will think twice on calling guards on you investigating lost dwarven items."

But good sir, i am more confused now. Boldly professing our guilt in the matter? The badges be our alibi, but also part evidence? If we profess the badges as innocence, our cover is blown. If we hide our badges, we have limited access. I shall over-think this no longer, and leave our fates to the remainder of the group to decide.

Fonklin looks at Evan even more confused.

"Boy, you're making no sense, first, ye asked me for a writ to be able to defend your innocence if accused of stealing the disks...the Badges mark you as Ambassadors of the Dwarven clan, and full rightful possessors of the disks, and thereby possessors of the badges. Who would DARE accuse you of stealing the badges? You have diplomatic immunity simply by wearing them! You sir, are indeed overthinking this."

"And what do you mean, "part evidence?" The badges can be hidden or shown, it matters not. You are given more authority over the city than a normal assembled vengance squad. your assignment through us give you the ability to kick in doors and bypass certain..."laws" in this city that would normally prevent you from finding our property.
They aren't a flag to waive ahead of you to show you "have the right".... the badges are more of a "get out of jail free" token, if YOU ARE caught doing something the Watch find.... "questionable". You merely have to smile and show them the badges, and say "Diplomatic immunity."

"So kick in doors, threaten bodily harm, hang witnesses off balconies by their boots...do whatever you HAVE TO, to find our disks!"

Simmon smirks at Evan.
Well if this very simple business has finally been cleared we can get to the very complicated business at hand, finding and retrieving the discs while not getting killed. I believe we meant to split up and check our two leads?

I was also thinking about conferring with a few colleagues of mine to see if they have any insight as to the magical forces that may be at work.

Arjiri, trying on her new armor, looks at her reflection in a large polished dwarven shield that rests against a table. She arches her back and thrusts out her chesticles:

"Nice chain mail, you hot bitch" she thinks to herself as the light glints off her torso. She then preens candidly with her hands on her waist, totally entranced for a moment by her own reflection.

Murdock can sense the dwarf's irritation. Uh hmm. Shall we be heading out now? If we get separated, we meet at the store house.

He doesn't tell Fonkin where they are going. The less others know, the better.

He grabs up a composite long bow, 20 sheaf arrows and a healing potion.

"My thanks good sir. We shall retrieve your disks."

Fonklin walks you all outside the main ground floor doors of the Warehouse. escorted by four armed and armored dwarves that seemed to appear out of nowhere. You all are walked out to the main gate and the small door is opened for you when you arrive.

You step out into the main street, and turn to see Fonklin still stands inside the gate. The four dwarves take their place around the door, checking both ends of the street you all now stand on. Fonklin clears his throat and smiles.

"If you need aid, you may come back here. If this quest takes more than a sevday, send someone back if possible to give us an update... we don't want to have to go through this again with a new group. Good luck."
Fonklin turns as the door is closed from the inside.

With the door shut and the four dwarf guards ignoring you all as they keep watch... you stand in the street as a wagon full of fish passes you by.

Anyone under their ob roll by 10+:
You can feel eyes on you. multiple sets. Every face you turn to on the street meets your gaze. Were they staring before hand? or just turned to meet my gaze as I stared at them? WIndows above you in buildings seem to have curtains that close or move as you look at them. You know whoever stole those disks, or allies thereof, are watching you.The sound of the fishmonger says "Good Morning" snaps you from your internal questions.
Anyone successfully under their roll:
The eyes of street seem to be upon you. mayeb it's the weight of the quest... maybe it's the pressure to succeed, but something or someone is watching you. The fishmonger in the cart says "Good Afternoon" before he turns the cart toward the Square.
Anyone missing their roll or over it:
... Is that fish you smell?

"Indeed!" Arjiri states in response to the fishmonger's greeting, and smiles broadly and nonchalantly. Turning to the group and with 0% pomp she relays to them in a low voice (while maintaining her carefree body language) "We are being dilligently watched out of every crack and keyhole; perhaps we should break into 6 and conspire to meet near our previously discussed destinations, all taking different routes. We will undoubtedly be tracked as groups of three or even two with great ease..." ..and with that she guffaws and slaps Evan on the back as the follow-up gesture to a jest just made.

Evan begins to form a new tune in hopes of influencing any locals who do get in range of our group, just before the group starts to split up. Also, rallying the party's morale, unless he messes up the melody...again.
sing(18)[1d20] = 16 Lute(14)[1d20] = 9

As we walk out of the courtyard, right out to the road.
Ya can feel the eyes, upon us, shaking off the cold
just pretend it doesnt bother you, I know ya just want to explo-ode.
Most times you cant hear em talk, other times ya can.
Oh the same old cliches, 'there's a clubfoot with a plan.
Though we always seem outnumbered, dont dare make a stand.

But later in the evening, as we lie ourselves to bed
with the echo of the tamborine, ringing in your head
share the days last whiskey, yes, remembering what was said.

"Havent got a chorus for this yet. Maybe I should just let it go. Turn the page so to speak."

Arjiri listens to Evan's song attempt:
Image
...then waves and takes off, winking at Murdock and Evan. Using her knowledge of streets and alleys, she will take a roundabout path back to the Temple and entering through the most commonly used entrance/exit, she will drop off her newly acquired tomes in her private quarters. She will then change cloaks to a lightly-hued one, let her jet hair down to flow over the front of it and don the hood, drawing it over her features in the attempt to both change her appearance and exude a less martial presence for the task ahead. She will then exit the Temple by an alternate exit (but nothing suspiciously disused), dropping off the 17 SP in the name of Evan Williams III (hmm she thinks...no it's IV as she scratches and ammends the log in 'Donations') on the way out, and make her way to the vicinity of the shop where the earlier plan had been formulated to pose as buyers (and wait for the other two, if they are not already present, without lurking suspiciously).
