This is what I'll buy for now. I'm hoping I can presume to be leaving most of my wealth with the temple in some capacity, and that I can buy more equipment once I get into character and figure out what needs to be done.

I'm pulling prices from LL and Moldvay/Cook, let me know if anything looks off.

FYI, OSE is pretty much a direct translation of B/X Moldvay/Cook, so prices and such are more accurate from there. LL does some weird things to prices and some other stuff that makes it less reliable, but I still use it in a pinch.

So, curiously, it doesn't look like a divine caster's holy symbol is actually *used* for anything. Both p. 22 and 42 of OSE simply state that "a cleric must carry a holy symbol." The holy symbol is small enough that it doesn't really count towards a readied item, though; it instead is a "thing" that counts towards a larger group (like flasks of oil or misc. items).
Sorry for the confusion. So... with 10 Strength I can ready 5 items. If I want a full 120 move, I can ready half of that. I just wanted to confirm that we round down and I can ready 2 items (e.g. leather and weapon) and move 120.

I was thinking about AD&D where holy symbols are usually a material component, and how that might force me to ready 3.

Yup, you're fine. Regarding backpacks being readied, the intent is that a "readied" item is one that immediately accessible, like a backpack that you're wearing, versus something that is stowed, like an item in the backpack. Basically, the idea presented in B/X is that characters not wearing armor move at 120', characters wearing leather move at 90', and characters wearing leather armor move at 60' (p. B20, Moldvay Basic).

Remember, as a 6th level magic-user you may also select two first, second, and third level spells in additon to those above.

Now, the armor you can't wear but you could certainly lend it to a companion that needed better protection or you could offer it to a retainer as added incentive if you want to bring on a henchman down the road.

Yes, that's the order we're using. Right now the other new player is going with a sorcerer. Current party composition is:

*Fighter
*Fighter
*Scout (ranger-like)
*Dervish (monk-like cleric)
*Sorcerer (new character, arcane caster with innate magical ability)

EDIT: The two classes not available right now are the curves and siderenos, as they are racial classes.

Don't worry about the money, there'll be plenty of opportunity to spend it, and you have to pay your monthly cost of living.

Ooof, I sometimes forget that even higher level MUs still can't take much hits... :lol:
