This thread should house the group-specific conversations of Group 1.

This can be used as little as needed, but please be sure to at least use it to discuss and agree upon at least the following general group tactics:
  • Scout: Does the party have one?
  • Marching Orders
    • 5-feet
    • 10-feet
  • Sleeping Watch Schedule (Note: A long rest needs to be at least 8 hours.)

Alright... hi everybody :)

Here's a proposal for marching order:

10 Foot--
Front:
Rumbling Mountain | Tannaris Vethykos
Brenzavur Fyrebrand | Oskar Loderr
Strega "the Pale"
Rear:

This puts our heavy hitters in the front, some armor in the back, the squishier people in the middle. Oskar will eventually get heavier armor, so we could go 2 in front, 2 in back, with Brenzavur in the middle, eventually.

On the topic of scouts, an alternative would be to put either the barbarian or Oskar out front as a scout... what are people's feelings about that?

On the sleeping issue, I guess we need 4 watches. We have 5 characters, one of whom only needs 4 hours in a trance, so we can double up two of the watches, I guess. So how about...

1st watch:
Awake: Strega
Asleep: Tannaris, Brenzavur, Rumble, Oskar

2nd watch:
Awake: Oskar
Asleep: Tannaris, Brenzavur, Rumble, Strega

3rd watch:
Awake: Tannaris, Rumble
Asleep: Brenzavur, Oskar, Strega

4th watch:
Awake: Tannaris, Brenzavur
Asleep: Rumble, Oskar, Strega

That gives us darkvision all night, and lets the spellcasters get their sleep uninterrupted (dunno if that matters).

Sound ok?

Thanks! The order looks fine to me. Rumble can scout if needed. He'd probably enjoy the time alone anyway.

Looks like we could have either Rumble or Oskar scout. Oskar's got better observation, but Rumble's better at sneaking, and it more survivable :)

I switched 1 of Strega's prepared spells. Goodberry to Detect Magic.

Just gonna point out that, whatever his strengths, Oskar is not a good fit for "face" of the party :)

He is if the guy is recruiting someone to steal something. We don't always get to pick who represents us. I suspect it will all work out in the end.

That's true, though Oskar is a thief mostly in the sense that Bilbo was, at the moment... he has the skills from elsewhere, but is not a "thief", he's a skilled dwarven craftsman with... well, potential. :)

I'd love to hear about you guys... it's my understanding that we're associated, so what do we know about each other?

Here is Strega's background. Not sure where you are from, perhaps we met on the road if you are not from near High Forest.

Strega's mother was a Uthgardt barbarian of the Blue Bear tribe named Calleag. As a young woman (teenager) Calleag and her family were trapped in a blizzard traveling through the High Forest. They all perished except Calleag who was saved by a lone wandering Orc named Gnurl. Calleag and Gnurl fell in love and Calleag gave birth to Strega. They lived as outcasts of both the barbarian and orc tribes of the High Forest for a few years when they were attacked by a wyvern. Gnurl was killed and Calleag was badly injured but they managed to kill the beast. Calleag, badly injured, took the young girl, 3 years old at the time, to a ranger of Mielikki, she knew lived nearby. Shortly before arriving at the rangers Calleag passed away from her injuries. Strega was discovered by the ranger a short time latter when a bird brought him news of a lost child in the woods. Upon investigating he found the battle sight and buried Gnurl and Calleag together and took Strega, a wyvern fang from the beast, Calleag's necklace and Gnurl's dagger to the closest druid's circle. Strega was raised by the druids and rangers of the High Forest, often spending more time alone then in the company of others. She has just become a druid in her own right and sensed that Mielikki has a task for her to perform. She wears her mothers necklace of beads, now with a silver pendant of Mielikki, carries her fathers dagger, which she calls 'Wyvern Slayer'. She also carries the wyvern fang, tucked into her pack, as a reminder of her hatred for dragon kind.l

Not being super familiar with the setting, I hadn't worked out where I was from, but it looks like dwarf settlements are pretty far from here, so Oskar seems likely to be from Baldur's Gate, which looks like a pretty metropolitan city near enough to here to justify this trip. Bonus, it seems to have a big criminal element. :)

Note: I moved the last post, about the technical questions, into the main 'OOC I' topic for the benefit of all players.

Good questions, which I'll get to soon.

By the way, I took the day off work tomorrow to run a bunch of errands, so my availability will be questionable, but if I miss tomorrow (Friday), you can certainly expect an update over the weekend.

P.S. I've edited the most recent update to include the more complete character details for the rest of the characters in this group.

Please review them when you get a chance and let me know if you spot any issues.

Bren is average intelligence - if 8's are average :). Seeing what appears to be the top of the red dragon egg - even though it appears a bit small - is probably good enough for him now. So the jury is still out if this is a scam!!
