Heather will attempt to move to the east side until the water "thing" gets within melee.

Sterling will stand with sword ready, in case she or it gets within melee range. He also has hold of the rope (in his shield hand), and will pull anyone to shore that needs the help.

Xam; having kept his eyes and bow peeled and ready for just such an event; looses an arrow as soon as the female....whatever...attacked his fellow party member.
Initiative: (+3 due to DEX 18): [1d6+3] = 3+3 = 6
Attack (+6 if withing 30 feet; +5 if within 70 feet): [1d20+6] = 13+6 = 19
Damage (doubled and +3 if within 30 feet; +2 if within 70 feet): [1d6] = 1 (Total of 5 if within 30 feet; Total of 3 if within 70 feet)

Sorry for the long delay guys, It's been a tough week.
I forgot that Xam was specialized in the bow. He had an arrow knocked and ready so he should get an extra shot prior to initiative just like Cirdan. I take that last roll as your first arrow.
Just like Cirdan you find the mark but the arrow passes through the watery creature without slowing it. Xam , you also notice the shadow of something just under the surface following the water serpent.
Because I was late replying and I'm sure everyone wants to get things moving I will make some rolls for Cirdan and Xam.
Cirdan and Xam adjust their aim and direct their second arrows at the shadow under the water. Xam reacts the fastest and is able to release his arrow first.
[1d20] = 17
[1d6] = 5 +3 x2=16
Cirdan releases his shot just before the water serpent reaches Heather.
[1d20] = 4
[1d6] = 3+3 x2=12
Xam's arrow pierces the surface of the water and hits the shadowy form. A cloud of blood billows out instantly. A huge eel surfaces, electricity arcs off it's body as it thrashes around in pain. Cirdan's arrow almost missed, it's not a perfect shot but it connects and ends the creature's suffering. The eel goes limp and sinks into the pool.
The water serpent smashes into Heather a moment later. It breaks over her like a wave, but causes no significant damage. A second later Heather feels something grab at her ankles but she is able to break the grasp.

Lastly, Oiran takes a flying leap into the pool in an attempt to defend Heather.

Sterling will move toward Heather to assist in the rescue, while having his sword in position to parry anything that comes his way.

Xam rapidly draws another arrow and nocks it in a smooth motion and moves his aim towards Heather. A bit dismayed at several of his fellows moving into his line-of-fire; his face becomes a grim line of concentration as he searches the water for any signs of movement. If he spots anything; he'll take a 'best-guess' aim at the water near their ankles and let loose....

As your companions close in around Heather you feel something brush past your legs. The water is up to your shoulders which puts your face close to surface and gives you a unique view. The creature has stopped grabbing at Heather and seems to have fled for the time being. You all watch for signs of attack but, the only movement is from the dead giant eel as it bobs in the bloody water.
Slowly the movement of the eel carcass becomes more animated as the once calm water of the pool begins to get rough. Cirdan and Xam notice that their feet are now wet and the beach seems smaller. You're not sure but the water could be rising.
What do you do?

Everyone scrambles for the hallway. The water continues to rise, chasing you up the stairs. At the top you find a pair of bronze double doors standing ajar. Beyond is a hallway that is 20 feet wide and stretches off into the darkness to the west. Piles of rubble and debris are scattered along it's length, but at least it's dry...for now.
The walls are covered in frescoes. The north wall depicts local natives on a journey across treacherous mountains, on the south are scenes of battles between the red skinned natives and black skinned invaders.

ooc: do the black skinned invaders look human? Or do they look like humanoids? Or are the frescoes to abstract or stylized to tell?

Heather will sheath her sword and unshoulder her crossbow again. "Damned if I ainta hopin that she-devil don't come up'eer where I can eye ball her proper."
