B S (IV)
Re: B S (IV)
Ah yes! I think I recall seeing a post last year about you being a a teacher. Didn't know you were an English teacher though.
I just finished summer school yesterday. My brain is finally switching to vacation mode.

Ok. Now I get it But, for the record, English is not my first language
I'm not an English teacher, but a Spanish teacher... well, from time to time.

Organization is a generous term.SpinwardMarch wrote:Thanks OM, I couldn't find the details on Turn Undead. The organization of the AD&D manuals have always annoyed me.

It's what I've used since 1979. I wouldn't know any other way to lay it out now.
"There is no spoon."
Re: B S (IV)
I play in a tabletop group that uses 2e. I can never find a thing in the PHB. It's too logical.
(Except for tables and charts. They never seem to be anywhere near the paragraph that tells you to refer to them )

I could never get used to third plus editions alphabetical spell descriptions. Flipping constantly back and forth for same level spells. SO annoying
Greys Campaign.
Re: B S (IV)
Oh yes! I've seen that in Labyrinth Lord. I think it's in 5e too isn't it? (Have the book, haven't played).
It's like the books are written with the promise of "Here, don't worry, you won't have to use your brain at all while you read this".
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go chase some young whippersnappers off my lawn. Grrr.

Back from the continuing mulberry harvest... Next up are apples and plums...
I still like 1e (even with the randomness of the contents) because there are 2 basic books. All the later editions require the purchase of more books, without really improving the game.

Those skeletons from 'Jason and the Argonauts' ! (there's no face with hearts for eyes like in Whatsapp, so that'll have to do). I remember as a kid they will play it on TV during Easter. Watched it every year.
Now everything is shit.

Re: B S (IV)
I remember that! I loved the holidays when I was a kid and we would got to my grandparent's house since they had cable and not just OETA and the local station. I loved watching the mythology movies like Jason and the Argonauts and Sinbad. Sometimes we would go for dinner on the weekends and my brother and I would watch tnt Monster Vision. Soooooo awesome. TV has really gone down hill since then.Baldorar wrote:Those skeletons from 'Jason and the Argonauts' ! (there's no face with hearts for eyes like in Whatsapp, so that'll have to do). I'm old as yon hills - still have my dice from 1981 - but sometimes I feel like I'm not curmudgeonly enough to play on here...

Don’t sell yourself short.
You’re plenty curmudgeonly.

I think some of my dice are from around 1980 as well. I decidedly qualify for curmudgeon status.
I still have an original troll doll from the 1960s.

I recently bought a couple sets of newer dice just for the heck of it and realized how old my other ones are. The plastic doesn't even feel the same, but I have no idea if it is because the plaster is better or worse or just plastic showing its age from... breaking down? Use? Either way... Apparently, I am an old gamer now. A couple years ago I even had an RPG club at school and the three young men that I ran the game for were shocked that we were doing 1e. They liked the story though
