Mad Alchemist's Laboratory (2), The Dead Wizard's Skyscraper
Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Day Three. Morning, March 27th, 912 CY

Suddenly, the alien brain-thing opens one single eye.

It can see them!

Jeojand asks it, "Tell us, who are you? Are you here of your own accord, trapped as some form of hideous and unjust punishment, or amid the process of your own strange creation?"

The box at the base of the vat crackles in reply:
"I Am A Da-lek!
"My Con-di-tion-ing Is Near-ly Fin-ished!
"Soon I Will Be Pure!
"Soon My Mu-ta-tion In-to The Su-preme Life Form Of The Un-i-verse Will Be Com-plete!

"Who Are You?! Answer!"

Adrock finds no writings of the ancient ones, nor books of any kind, anywhere in this incredible chamber. Maskelyn searches beneath the table surfaces but finds no doors in the cabinets of this strange place! Atop the table glimmer buttons, dials and switches.

Chaka returns the delicious purple potion to the multi-colored crystal assemblage, ignores the blue and green elixirs, and joins Tullia in moving west to peer north, around the corner. They discover a door; a way out. Tullia urges the others to follow and escape the bizarre laboratory.

Maskelyn

Hearing the questions from the jar, Maskelyn stops to speak with it.

We're the fitting team, Doc. We gotta measure you to make sure ya fit your trashcan. Warming to his own nonsense, he picks up a clipboard and continues.

Now, you wanted the red leather interior with the neon lights- right, Doc? Great choices! Hate to tell you we're all out of the purple neons- Gotta go with the yellow. Is that gonna work for you, Mac?

He fights to hide a smile as he continues, trying to emulate Bugs, the Gray One.

Tullia

Hearing the reply from the tank thing, she motions to the other to follow her. Let's get out of here, quickly. And maybe someone should put that thing out of its misery. Sheesh, who ever built this place is really warped.

Keeping an eye on the brain, Fiefo, in the chaos following Ko-Nan’s attack, will scoop up the remaining potions and hurry to the far end of the room to join the others at the corner.

Chaka listens at the new found door. If he hears nothing, he checks it for traps. If he finds none, he tries the handle and cracks it open.

When Fiefo joins them with the potions in hand, he exclaims.

"Purple potion is broken. Did nothing for Chaka!"

Mad Alchemist's Laboratory (2), The Dead Wizard's Skyscraper
Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Day Three. Morning, March 27th, 912 CY

Jeojand continues his erudite cross examination of the hideous, one-eyed brain in the vat: "And if you will soon be pure, then what, pray tell, were you before your 'conditioning?'"

"I Was Of The Oth-ers. But That Time Is Done, Praise Xy-gax!
"Who Are You?! An-swer! An-swer!"

Maskelyn the trickster lies, trying to fool the brain-like creature that calls itself a Dalek. But the grotesque monster replies:
"You Are Not Da-leks!
"You Are A-li-ens!
"All In-fe-ri-or Life Forms Are The En-e-mies Of The Da-leks! You Shall Be Ex-"

Suddenly, Ko-Nan cuts the conversation short. The savage barbarian brings his mighty axe down upon the glass cage and smashes the wicked brain-thing out of existence!

In the chaos following Ko-Nan’s attack, Fiefo scoops up the remaining potions; purple, blue and green.

Tullia urges the others to leave, adding, "Whoever built this place is warped!" Fiefo and Adrock take heed and join her at the western end of the bizarre laboratory.

Chaka listens at the newfound door, checks it for booby traps and, finding no dangers or knobs, reaches his furry, outstretched hand to touch it. But before he can, the door suddenly disappears, instantly sliding into the adjacent wall, revealing a dark hallway beyond!

Looking back to see if the others are going to join them, Chaka moves ahead slowly, keeping a sharp eye out for any dangers.

He sticks to the shadows and treads as quietly as possible, moving up the long wall towards the north, hoping to get a better look at the size of this new room.

Tullia

Let us proceed with caution. Come on, everyone, before something decides to eat us. Careful with the doors here, Chaka. She down the corridor with what light they have. At least there doesn't seem to be another one of the brain things here. Also, that door was interesting... where did it go?f

Ko-Nan asks "Are those machine-things out there still? Can we set a trap for their foulness and avoid those death rays?"

Jeojand
"Well then tell me, Proto-Dalek, how does o—" …Jeojand's question is interrupted by the slaughter. He wipes some green residue off his face and heaves a defeated sigh.

Brandishing his dagger, the cat-man silently follows ten paces behind Chaka, exploring further into the room.

Maskelyn

Stupid conversation anyway... Maskelyn quotes a fragment of ancient scripture as he flicks nasty shreds of brain off his robes. He joins the others as they head out the new doorway.

The Dead Wizard's Skyscraper
Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Day Three. Morning, March 27th, 912 CY

The treasure-seeking adventurers delve deeper into the dead wizard's skyscraper.

Fiefo heard no Dalek voices in the laboratory, but now he hears them in the distance, echoing in the strange corridors behind them to the southeast. Chaka finds no traps in their path as they slowly venture north down the double-wide passageway. They come to an intersection where new hallways extend into darkness.

At that intersection, on a wall ten feet east of Jeojand, is a rectangular hole with multicolored, vein-like ropes sticking out. Was the bizarre, sorcerous tower a living being?

Some of the skyscraper's veins are severed; dangling loose. Most are not.

Maskelyn

The Gnome studies the veins closely, his hands kept behind his back to avoid touching anything. This is interesting... A bolder person than I might be tempted to fiddle with these things to see what happens...
He grins, imagining the chaos that might erupt.

Ko-nan looks to grab some type of metal plate to use as a shield from the machine-thing's deadly ray. "Why are we all bunching up again? we'll be dead if we run into another one of those things - who can scout ahead for now?"

Chaka looks back over his shoulder at the barbarian scolding him as he spews hot breath down his hairy little neck.

”Chaka scout ahead! Remember?”

Pressing his luck again, the apeboy moves cautiously down the southern of the twin corridors, to check if they meet up with the next passage on the groups map.

“We should try other potions too. Chaka not feeling too good.”

Tullia

LL, put that back in! Folks, don't mess with stuff, it could kill us all. Sheesh. A ranger who doesn't want to be followed does not break off branches along the way. <facepalm>

She will look down the hallway that Chaka is exploring. She is concerned that the purple potion is making Chaka sick.

LL, keep an eye on Chaka, please.
