There are some where they have contact information, but the storage fees are overdue, those are auctioned off weekly, with any balance remaining after back storage fees less 10% going to the contact. Minimum bid is the back storage fees.

The cargoes have varying levels of identification. All may be inspected but not opened.

So several cargoes with about Cr 10,000 in back storage fees:

A lot of 5 one ton cargo containers from Shameel's Seafood, will be auctioned off in 2 days, sealed bids accepted until then. Mimimum bid Cr 9,500

A 5 ton mini-sub that had been imported from Hara (so it is TL10) will be auctioned off in 2 days, sealed bits accepted until then. Minimum bid Cr 10,200.

Ana's eyes also light on a 20 ton lot of Aluminum to be auctioned off in 2 days, sealed bids accepted until then. Minimum bid Cr 3,000 (She will note that Arthiop, their next destination is Non-Industrial which would present a +4 DM for sale price of Aluminum, which would average Cr 800 per ton purchase price here).

I know you want to place a bid on the Aluminum, what would you like to bid? Lowest speculative purchase price would be Cr 400 per ton (Cr 8,000 total). With how well it will sell at Arthiop, you may have competition. I will make one roll on the speculative trade value table for the most competitive offer, I will apply the DM -2 for Rich, that will make the median price Cr 800 per ton and the highest offer Cr 1,300 per ton.

I'm trying to remember what I was thinking the minisub would price out at, probably Cr 50,000.

Here are my thoughts on cargo and passengers for Arthiop.

Fogbound Shedezar 2 tons Spec. Cargo - Machine Parts 606,000
(We are planning to hold this until we reach Arthiop to take advantage of its NI trade code +3 on the roll.)

So we have 80 tons of empty space. The fruit isn't a very good deal in this case, Arthiop is Ag Ni so it'll have a -2 on the sales roll, but we'd only lose money on a roll of 5-. We'd have about a 72% chance of breaking even or earning a profit even without a broker, so not a great deal, but not too bad. Take it unless we can scare up a better deal.

1. Take all the Low passengers we can, that's a no brainer.

2. See if we can get a better profit with the auctions, but if we can't take all the fruit and hope we can get a good roll with a broker's help on Arthiop.

2a. The auction deals: pass on the Seafood (probably not a great seller on Arthiop), pass on the mini-sub (unless we plan to buy it and use it for the crystal expedition later), try to get the Al with a +4 for Arthiop's Ni trade code the worst we can do is a modified 6 (even without a broker) so if it's a one time closed bid auction I'd place a bid of 800 cr per ton...that should ensure we make at least a small profit on it.

3. Fill the rest of the hold with Freight. If we take 35 tons of fruit we'll have room for 40 or 45 tons of freight (depending on whether we get the Alum). There are several ways we can reach either 40 or 45 tons of freight after we know how the auction went.

I've updated the Financial Spreadsheet for the Mazie Star (in the Mazie Star thread).

I included the expenses incurred on Shedezar for our trip to Arthiop: berthing on Shedezar, fuel, and life support for 10 cabins and 20 low berths. We are down to about 35,000 in cash, so we have enough to buy the fruit and the Aluminium, but we better make some profits on Arthiop! However, we could use an influx of new money from the new characters.

Just how many new characters are buying in for the 20,000 cr each?

Oh, I missed that! I thought it was 5 tons.

Hum, 24,500 for the Fruit + 16,000 for the Aluminum adds up to 40,500. We'd have room for 25 tons of freight = 25 kcr. We have 35, plus 25 more would cover the 40,500 with a ~20,000 cr to float to the next system. Really do need to make a good profit on those machine tools on Arthiop!

Okay and Foix and Grimaud are buying in. Chu and somebody else (forgive me for forgetting) are joining, too. So we might get another 80 kcr investment which would give us some cushion. Until I hear from others, I'll only put the 40 kcr from Foix and Grimaud on the spreadsheet.

Preserving the same lifetime and general payment idea, I could make it Cr 143,000 every 28 days (cost / 260 for 520 payments every 28 days, about 40 years).
