Chapter 2: The Heist
Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
It's a small group around the outside of the vault door.
Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Raamiz hisses to his companions and gestures in a "come-here" manner as he pauses. He whispers: "Perhaps we can slam the outer door and make an escape through the pantry."

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Any takers on that plan? Other ideas?
Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Shmehk keeps his voice low
"If the grate was unlocked it would be different, but if we shut the vault we'll be locking ourselves in. There is something else..."
he produces a vial of green powder
"...Eevamarensee sleeping powder. We could divide it up and when they close to fight we throw it in their faces, try and get as many as we can to breathe it in. We'd need to protect ourselves from it, maybe wet rags over our nose and mouth would work" he looks at the others "what do you think?"

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Fiapy:
"Not a fan of the trying to escape through the grate, I say we try to walk out of here. The sleeping powder could give us the opening we need to make it past a large group."

Raamiz swallows hard but nods, easing his sword from its sheath.

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
And with that, you enter combat with the men attempting to ambush you.
Three men you recognize as members of the Thieves' Guild run into the jaguar room to attack you! One goes for each of you.
They have AC 13, and will attack on an 8 initiative. If you beat it, you will attack first, otherwise they attack you:
Init: [1d20+2] = 6+2 = 8
Thief vs Fiapy: [1d20+1] = 9+1 = 10 dam: [1d4] = 2
Thief vs Raamiz: [1d20+1] = 20+1 = 21 dam: [1d4] = 1
Thief vs Shmehk: [1d20+1] = 6+1 = 7 dam: [1d4] = 3
Fiapy | Warrior | HP: 8/8 | AC: 15 | Luck: 17+1=18 (+3)
Shmehk Scree | Wizard | HP: 8/10 | AC: 12 | Luck: (10-4)+0=6 (-1)
Raamiz | Thief | HP: 5/10 | AC: 12 | Luck: (16-6)+2=12 (+0)

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Round One
The party locks swords with the thieves!
In the first clash, Raamiz and his opponent trade blows. While Raamiz' blow draws a fleck of blood (2 damage), he steps into his opponent's blow, and feels the dagger bite him (4 damage).
Shmehk and his opponent square off, but the thief is too cagey for the sword-trained wizard, and no blows land.
Fiapy then winds up and brings his sword, Rabbit's Foot, down on the head of his opponent, braining him. The sword then twists around, and guts the thief (7 damage). Fiapy cries out "You've been thumped!"
The remaining thieves presses their attack. The one fighting Raamiz cries "The Thieves Guild doesn't tolerate freelancers!"
Next round, the thieves act on 20.
Fiapy init: [1d20+1] = 5+1 = 6
Fiapy Melee Fiapy Longsword Attack [1d20+4] = 6+4 = 10 + Deed Die [1d3] = 3; Damage: Deed die+[1d8+1] = 3+1 = 4

Shmehk continues to attack with his longsword, once again trying a disarm manoeuvre:
Initiative: [1d20+1] = 7+1 = 8
Long Sword: to-hit [1d20] = 7, deed [1d3] = 1, dmg [1d8] = 7
The dextrous thief continues to evade his sword.

Raamiz gasps and reels back. "Thieves' Guild? I have the right to steal the same as you, you bastards!"
Initiative: [1d20+1] = 4+1 = 5

Round 2
The thieves circle Shmehk and Raamiz with their daggers, but their openings never come. Before they can do mich mor than throw out a couple of taunts, they are killed.
The first kill goes to Fiapy, who kills Shmehk's opponent with another powerful "thump" (10 damage!). The other kill goes to Raamiz, who uses the superior length of his short sword to kill his arrogant opponent (4 damage)

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Raamiz clutches his linen tunic to his chest and grunts in pain as he lowers his weapon. "I think we might have upset someone."
He walks in obvious pain toward the fallen warriors, the tip of his sword dragging behind him, and begins rifling through their belongings. "I wonder if they have anything to identify them to other Thieves' Guild members as such. Surely if there are enough to be organized, they will not all know each other. Such a token could come in handy. Come, help me search."

Shemhk
"Perhaps you should take a breather and let us search the bodies?"
He will assist in searching the downed thieves.

Raamiz nods wordlessly and slides down against the wall. After a moment, he begins to tend to his wounds.

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
You can't "recuperate" again, but I'll let you do the examining your wounds recovery for a luck point, even though the battle just ended.
The thieves do, in fact, have the traditional Thieves' Guild silver daggers that mark them as members. These are similar to the one that Shmehk and Fiapy found in the crate of victim gear in the Jailer's room.

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Do they have anything else of worth, other weapons?
Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Definitely doing that. That will take me to 11 Luck.
In-Combat Recovery: [1d6] = 6
Raamiz grunts again as he knots a makeshift bandage around his ribs. "Toss me...one of those knives. If they don't all know each other, it might let us talk our way out of the next confrontation."

Re: Chapter 2: The Heist
Shmehk passes over a dagger before returning to do one final search of the bodies.
