Chapter 1: In the Dungeon!

You climb slowly out of blackness, the darkness giving way to a dim gloom and the stink of damp stone. Faintly, you sniff out the stench of the Great Salt Marsh somewhere far off in the distance. Your head is fuzzy and throbbing, your arms sore and aching.

Startled, you find yourselves shackled to the damp stone walls of a dim cell lit only by a flickering torch set into a wall beyond the cell’s metal bars. One of the cell’s walls is a barrier of bars with a single gate, the remaining walls are old, wet stone.

You are not alone in the cell: a handful of other prisoners are shackled, their arms pinioned above their heads like yours. Aside from these other unfortunates, you see no one else in the immediate vicinity of your cell.

Welcome!

You may begin roleplaying... there are a few dice rolls and equipment purchases left, so let's say we can't start "hard rp" with dice until that is finished. But feel free to interact or look around, etc.

You are all waking up in captivity for the first time, with no clear idea how you got here, unless we've talked about it privately. Your hands are manacled above your head, and you are dressed in (your) regular clothes (with no armor or other equipment). You don't know each other.

Schmehk, you are gagged and your fingers are wrapped in tight bandages, making intricate motion or talking impossible.

There may be a language issue, so for now at least, please put anything you say in a spoiler field, and indicate what language it is outside of the spoiler, like this...

Fiapy looks around the room….gives his shackles a quick pull and sighs…

Stares wide eyed at the poor guy completely bundled up and shakes his head…

Schmehk pulls on his chains, testing their strength. After a few tries he gives up and spends a moment trying to remove his gag, but gives up on that too.

Dunulk glances around in the flickering torchlight for signs of anyone other than the other prisoners, and then cranes his neck about to get a closer look at his shackles.

Your cell is lit by a single torch in what looks to be a guard room, though there is no sign of the guard at the moment, just the four of you here in the cell.

Your manacles are locked with a simple lock. The thick chain between them threads through a metal ring mortared into the wall.

Schmehk grabs the chains in his hands and tries putting all his weight on the chain to see if there is any sign of weakness where the ring is set into the wall.
not much introducing you can do when gagged :-)

Alright. You need a DC 16 Strength Roll to pull the ring free. You can spend luck to improve it if you want, before or after the roll... you (and everyone else) start with 1 "fleeting luck" on top of your regular luck.

Str check: [1d20] = 11

will hold back on using luck at this point

Alright, so your manacles do not pull free from the wall.

As far as introduction, to some extent, I mean describe what the others can see, etc, too...

The man trying to free himself appears to be in his late teens, with dark shoulder length hair and a pock-marked face covered in a few days worth of stubble. His clothes are clean and in good condition, but of ordinary quality.

Please give me a strength roll (d20, +1 for strength). You are trying to beat 16, and can spend luck if you want, 1 point of luck for each +1 (decided before or after the roll). You have your full luck, +1 fleeting luck.

Can’t quite figure out how to roll yet on my phone.
If someone would like to roll for me at +2 I will hope my luck holds and we can get out of here.

Didnt pre-add any luck for ya... just the +1 for strength

Fiapy breaks loose [1d20+1] = 14+1 = 15

So, if you wish to spend 1 point of luck (all of your current "fleeting luck"), you will be able to break loose from the wall...

He moves quickly to his friend and removes the gag and frees his hands..

OOC: Is Schmehk now able to cast spells, and would he be able to direct the force manipulation 'force sphere' at his manacles?

Schmehk is able to cast spells, but the manacles hinder him, and he would take a 1 die penalty on the roll (rolling on d16 instead of d20).

As for what Force Manipulation would do here, I guess you could throw the ball of force at the manacles, sure. I'd say it could give you another try at pulling yourself free, with a 1 due bonus (so roll with d24 instead of d20).

The man hanging on the wall in dark travel-stained Eastern garb arches his back and wrests his hands forward, pulling the ring out of the wall.

Strength Roll: [1d20+1] = 17+1 = 18

He looks around as he stands up from kneeling.
